Ecutalk - Standard & Pocket Pc Consult Software
NewKleer replied to NewKleer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ECUTalk v1.3.5 beta6 has been released, which heaps of switch/solenoid sensors. ECUTalk v1.3.5 beta6 - Changes from v1.3.5 beta3 below: #18 Display switch/solenoid etc sensors Of the added switch sensors, 8 are common to petrol/diesel engines, 39 specific to diesel engines, and 39 specific to petrol engines. Each individual engine only supports a subset of these though, around 10-20 on average. ECUTalk v1.3.5 beta6 can be downloaded from latest news post here: ECUTalk -
obd scantech is free and allows you to do that also. only thing that comes to mind that obd scantech doesnt have is map tracing, but theres probably some other stuff datascan has. full conzult is only for Z32. there is conzult-sx for non-z32, but still question the worth of that unless you've tried obd scantech/ecutalk combo and there is something conzult-sx has that you must have.

another alternative is to get an older ipaq and run ECUTalk on it. apple are only on the lookout for the $ so making an iphone solution would be expensive. look at the one mentioned in OP - it needs to make a WIFI access point just to connect with the phone, cause apple dont let you use the serial port unless you've bent over for them and are giving them 80% of your profits. or just get an ECUTalk lcd display...

they dont, only way your scan tool will work with any adaptor is if the scan tool supports consult and has the required consult pins on the OBD2 plug. you cant simply adapt a generic OBDII tool to work with consult, it has to have specific consult support. thats what yankees will tell you. however cars made outside USA didnt have this requirement. some cars as late as 2006 in australia (patrols) still have the old consult (no OBDII compatibility). for the jap originated nissans it was generally new models starting after 99 when they brought consultII out, that were converted. i.e. s15/r34 were last of the consult models. you cant. well, you can get the adaptor but it wont do anything unless the scan tool is made for consult (i.e. an actual nissan consult II). but if it was theyd just have the consult plug/cable with it or have it as an option (e.g. greddy informeter/blitz rvit etc, has consult harness option). consult and OBDII are completely different and incompatible at every possible level (electrical, signalling, communications protocol), so no adaptor is going to make a generic OBDII thing talk to consult stuff.

google FullScanTechOBDII.zip, that will probably work with basic OBDII cable (VAG style i think, not ELM). but its not all that good. aside from blazt cable/software, theres also uprev cipher cables/software.

Ecutalk - Standard & Pocket Pc Consult Software
NewKleer replied to NewKleer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ecutalk software doesnt have performance tests, you're probably mixing it up with something else. ecutalk display does, and it works as you describe. you hit start, and once car speed is greater than 0, starts timer till you hit the target. once speed drops to 0 it waits again for next time. i imagine this is how i would do it if i add speed test to the software in future -

ECUTalk v1.3.5 beta3 which adds proper support for diesel engines, including diesel specific sensors, also update to error codes. ECUTalk v1.3.5 beta3 - Changes from v1.3.5 beta1 below: #105 Add extra sequential index column to logging #108 Russian language has trouble changing alert values #109 Add basic compatibility for diesels #110 Differentiate between petrol/diesel (as some sensors are shared) #111 Russian Update error codes (for both petrol and diesel) v1.3.5 beta3 can be downloaded from latest news post here: http://www.ecutalk.com -
Convert Ecutalk Logs To Universal Format
NewKleer replied to BundyBear's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok so ive updated ecutalk (see http://www.ecutalk.com) to have the extra 'Entry' column index but that didnt help at all with winlog, which needs an extra empty line up the top, which would make it invalid with datascan format. it doesnt even help with excel which was fine with the time entry as-is. so i dont think its any use at all? -
generally remaps, nistune, daughterboards, and piggyback systems all retain consult. sometimes the readings wont be accurate if you're intercepting signal (SAFC etc) and so on. but replace the nissan ecu with another one (power fc, haltech, ems, etc) and no it wont work.

Whos Soldered In A Nitune Board ?
NewKleer replied to 3LGODZILA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
if u got an rb20 ecu then follow the rb20 instructions... removing the rb20 existing chip, i just cut all the legs off it then unsoldered each one at a time then solder-sucker out the holes. consult cable would be for tuning/monitoring, but i wouldnt be trying to tune it yourself if you dont know what you're doing. -
oil pressure isnt available via consult
-
yeah <25. turn your idle screw down, the AAC at the moment is helping keep idle at idle speed, means it has less 'room to move' to catch falling revs or to less room to open to start car when warm etc. its fairly easy to do, just have car fully warm, then watch AAC as you turn idle screw...once it gets down around 20's, at some point any further changes in idle screw wont have any more impact - so you just stop then. mine was up at 50 and i would stall on warm start (unless open throttle, i think it was, a while ago now). adjust idle screw and all good. of course it could be gunk building it, but cant be bothered cleaning
-
check AAC value with consult when the car is warmed up and idling. should be <25

#3 emails have been off and on for me, maybe get half of them only? -
if you want the display but are concerned it might not work, you can return it if it doesnt for full refund (im the one that makes them).
-
its not the 'ebay' thats selling them, but a seller on ebay, in this case in latvia (read into the location what you will) similar cable to the ecutalk/plms (aus) or blazt (nz) cables - they all work with same software etc. dont think its a 'new age' version of consult or anything like that, definitely cant compare them with the nissan consult unit itself, <$100 isnt going to do half of what a $5000 piece of equipment will do, but it does most of what you need - the sensor readings and fault codes. has saved many people a trip to mechanics (often costs more than the cable) if theyve been able to see a certain sensor is dead or a fault code has been triggered etc. found many a dead o2 sensor which costs people lots of $ in lost fuel economy. the cables shouldn't be duds, but for another $2.01 ($75) it might be worth getting an ecutalk one, or a bit more for plms/blazt. the obd scantech + ecutalk combo is more than adequate for majority of people, i wouldnt spend extra $ on any paid software unless you know you need it
-
where have u found it at that price? ark website has the unit at $459 + $79 temp sensor, $179 pressure = $717USD. im sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere etc, but thats quite a lot of dollars. which readings/screen would you monitor 24/7? (i see theres a 4 gauge or 8 gauge mode, presumably one of those?). and comparing to cost of defi gauges is going to make anything look cheaper i guess one of the benefits of the ARK is that it doesnt take the consult port, so if you wanted to add something off that later you can. anyway looks like you know all your options, good luck.
-
isnt the ARK MFD more than double the ecutalk? guess it depends on what purpose you need it for, and whether you need it just for its functionality or if it has to look the part also, which the ecutalk display is pretty plain. i would have thought that the 3 sensors not available via consult, you'd want boost and oil pressure as standalone gauges? so then you're really only getting oil temp more than whats available via consult.
-
just in case anyone reads this and thinks its correct, its not. R34 does NOT have an OBD2 port, only a consult port. V35 and up have OBD2 port. so yes it has the consult port. OBD1 isnt really a standard, people just use OBD/OBD1 to often mean 'something which isnt OBD2', so its not good to use OBD/OBD1 in terms of identifying a diagnostics port at all. the ECU doesnt read boost and oil, so unless the touch has external wiring for that, you wont get that. make sure you consider the ECUTalk V2 display before spending 3 times as much on a toy. normally for monitoring people will get a consult device + gauges for the un-monitorable via consult (oil temp and/or pressure, boost, and sometimes wideband o2 and EGT).

Ecutalk - Standard & Pocket Pc Consult Software
NewKleer replied to NewKleer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
unfortuately the newer PPC devices with only a USB connector wont work (need access to actual serial port on it to hook up to consult cable via null modem adaptor). ones which have a USB host port (which would allow it to host peripheral devices like usb consult cable, keyboards, etc) may work with usb consult cable, but majority of newer devices with mini-usb only dont have this
