  1. just so theres no confusion, i replaced the radiator completely (see my first post) but was wondering what to do with the radiator i took out (ie if its not possible to fix then ill chuck it out)
  2. do they just weld it or something if its a minor one? mine was spraying "mist" out of it, so i think it was tiny (couldnt find the hole when i took it out). might take it somewhere and see what they can do thanks
  3. I replaced my radiator a while ago cause it developed a leak in the middle of the radiator - so i was wondering if the leaking radiator is of any use to anyone, ie can it be repaired?
  4. do u mean this one? http://www.autotrader.com.au/photodisplay....r=N15503438_31C or this one? http://www.autotrader.com.au/photodisplay....r=Y15504211_31H (i know which one id be looking at, and its a long drive away
  5. thats all u can do short of whipping a multimeter out and doing some testing. contact the guy u bought it off and he might be able to tell u if theres any easy way to tell if its not working (im not sure what circuit he's using)
  6. checked to make sure ur consult port is connected up to ecu? tried it on another car?
  7. also try plug a serial mouse into it and see if the usb/serial port works.
  8. depends on the program - scantech nissan is probably the best for figuring this out. they arent too hard to make urself. ic's are easy to find also (just search ur electronics place/site/shop for 4060 and max232). hardest thing will be the crystal (2.457mhz or anything that can be divided to 153.6khz with the 4060 ic)
  9. before u send it back u can always try putting a 10k resistor between TX and gnd wires on the plug (eg on back of plug) however this only tends to help when u have garbage received, not so much when it doesnt connect at all
  10. checked that ur consult ports are wired up to ur ecu correctly?
  11. datascan is probably best overall. best free ones are scantech nissan, conzult free, and calumsult (http://web.utk.edu/~cjohns32/calumsult/cal...umsult_full.zip) as for why i asked what car/engine/ecu etc is that consult is not supported on early (89-90) rb20 skylines. consult only came out in 90/91 so the earlier cars dont have it. also no aftermarket ecu has it either.
  12. mick u should have received new version of datascan in email (im hoping u didnt rip it off someone else...) usb/serial converters do work (ive got one) - try it with something else though, like serial mouse give us more info on the car ur trying it on, whether uve tried other cars, whether uve tried other software (scantech nissan is a good freeware one, http://www.geocities.com/obdscantech2000/S...nTechNissan.zip)
  13. i guess this is pretty basic, but are u using the right port? they typically are com3/com4 for usb serial thingys. so when u click connect u dont even get ecu serial number? can u perform any active tests (easiest one is shutting off a cylinder)
  14. guys notice the date of this thread - the car was sold ages ago.
  15. the box sau is hosted on hosts many other sites (eg ns.com) - its not like ocau that only host one site. surely the deal sau have guarantees some level of performance of the server? can it just run like a dog half the month and you have to put up with it?

  17. i think this is more related to all the database problems that sau and ns.com have been having (host related, not site related). whenever they both have problems at the same time u know its the host falling over
  18. hi, given that sau forums use the non-popup mode of confirming receipts for pm's, it means that hardly anyone uses the pm receipt function. can this be fixed by changing the "Can Deny Private Message Read Receipt Request" setting to "no" for registered usergroup? (link admincp to change it here if ive got it right) Peter
  19. got the notification for this and the arcade thread just then, so seems to be working now at least, so im guessing it fixed it.
  20. ive noticed this lately with many vb forums - it might be vb specific. seem to be working last few days/week, but most of january all my subscriptions were delayed (and email timestamps show it to be delayed before it leaves the hosts network, so wasnt a problem my end)
  21. problem is that the links point to index.php instead of arcade.php a workaround atm is just to copy/paste link into address, then manually edit index -> arcade. however, high scores wont be saved as it redirects back to index on finishing a game.
  22. if you find someone with a consult interface and can recreate the 2500 problem, then drive the car and fire up a consult program, youll quickly see which or if both afm is not working. you might even fine one is permanently dead too then check for continuity (or visually inspect) the joints to the afm from ecu (find right ecu pins might be a bit tricky, but its probably in the service manual as one of the troubleshooting procedures.)
  23. Hi, couple of my lifters need replacing. nissan want 100$ new so im looking for some 2nd hand ones (or if anyone knows of a place that can get new lifters for cheaper than $100 each) Peter
  24. nissan wants over 100 for each lifter. does anyone know if rb20 lifters are the same as rb25det?
  25. email notifications seem delayed or not working at all. i think ive got 1 thread notification and missed about 3, and 2 pm notifications were a few hours late
