Ecutalk - Standard & Pocket Pc Consult Software
NewKleer replied to NewKleer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
no, pocket pc only. apple are too greedy, they make it far too hard to do something like this on the iphone without paying them a lot of money for the 'priviledge'. if apple dont make money from it they arent interested in allowing it to happen. -

did you try using the 'report' function and ask what you wanted to do there.? thats what the mods have said to use and i did it a couple weeks ago and it was taken care of (which is good because back when the edit function was first removed, reported posts were often never acted upon) -
yeah, maybe the swift one is buggy then. of course it wont help knowing that 130km/h may be better, but it can help determine whether 4th or 5th is better at 80km/h or the difference between hard/calm driving, engine braking and whatever. the displays record all the fuel/distance/time elapsed for all trips, so on the 'all trips' display its going to show you how much fuel has been used, what LPH, whats the average speed, and average fuel economy, total distance, and total time elapsed. has seperate readings of the same data just for the current trip on the other trip meter screen. its been so long since ive used the software, but i think it records long term data, cant remember. but the display is much more useful for everyday driving since u dont need the laptop.
-
that sounds like an OBDII/ConsultII vehicle, so no it would not.
-
if your swift's one is crap doesnt mean that all of them are. ive been in a subaru with one that was pretty accurate. and how do you know the readings are incorrect? instant readings are instant ones, not the average for the trip, so its not unusual to see 50+ L/100KM while accelerating, or 1-2L/100km under engine braking or high speed in neutral. make sure you understand what the reading is before assuming it must be incorrect. 'calibrating' the ecutalk one is pretty simple - fill up the tank, reset ecutalk (cleartrip in options), do some driving, then when it comes to fill up again next week or whenever, compare fuel filled up with at bowser, with what the ecutalk reads, and use this to adjust injector CC size. e.g. newINJsizeInECUTalk = currentINJsizeInECUTalk * (fuelIN / fuelECUTalk) so if u started with stock 370cc, and find you used 45L fuel when u filled up but ecutalk read 50L, then 370 * 45.1 / 47.3 = 353cc then repeat the next time. this of course assumes the display is running on the main screen the entire time the engine is running (not sitting on a menu or something where it isnt recording, for a long period). and it will also depend as to how level the car is as to whether your filling it up 'full' is to the same 'full' amount as last time - car on an angle leaning away from the rear side you fill up compared to leaning towards can make a big difference.
-
thats a massive jump to make it to that conclusion based on 2 reference points. remember car's torque curve isnt flat (otherwise itd be a torque flat!), and more precisely the efficiency of the engine in making power varies greatly with load and RPM.
-
is this a USA delivered car or Japanese C34 Stagea? if its a japanese import (like the ones we import into australia, then the computer isnt OBDII compatible, only consult. you cant wire up a plug because the ECU both doesnt have the hardware support (i.e. there is no k-line wire physically on the ECU) and the ECU itself doesnt understand OBDII. what are you trying to do that needs OBDII?
-
if it ends up being a C34/consult vehicle rather than C35/odb2, then you can sell your scangauge and get an ecutalk display
-
you must have missed the fault codes tab if thats what you mean by 'scans'. look up the top or bottom of program window, you'll set the setup, fault codes, options, etc.

Consult Port Into Hr31 Conversion
NewKleer replied to R31Heaven's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ive no idea where its wired, but if u cant figure it out u can wire it to the ECU. -
it comes with a cd that has the drivers and software on it, so u dont need to download them (but can if you want to have a look). between ecutalk and obd scantech software should have you covered for 95% of what youd want to do.

$70 for SAU members if paid via bank deposit (pm me) can you guess which state from my location? (From: Western Sydney)

thats me

you cant get consult cables from jaycar. you're perhaps getting confused with OBDII stuff for the 2000+ cars. we arent talking about anything made by nissan itself, but aftermarket cables/software.

Emission Testing Modified Skyline's
NewKleer replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
how sure are we that they dont keep a record at all of cars that do it voluntarily and fail? e.g. if ive got a car thats currently engineered etc (not sure as to whether its engineered/passed for emissions), am i likely to get a letter in the mail that someone 'anonymously' tipped them off? what was the booking procedure? is it just you book it and u go on a waiting list or whatever? no cost? id like to see how good i can get the car in terms of compliance, but without returning everything to stock (given the point is to have a legal modified car, not one u swap parts on all the time). (also the car im talking about is going to be under the 97-2003, which is THC (g/km): 0.26, NOx (g/km): 0.63, CO (g/km): 2.1, so it may be a bit harder/need more work to get it to pass) -

Cant Edit Posts
NewKleer replied to QWK32's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
if mods are actually editing posts when people report them with required edits then thats good enough (i know for quite a while it was useless reporting them because no one was doing the edits for reported posts requiring edit) -
yeah if you're hooking up to the ecu you only need tx/rx/clk + ign(12v) and ground. the consult plug itself has like 6-10 wires in it (out of posible 14 pins)
-
refer to my previous post, 'lookrs232'. once its loaded up and u select com port/speed etc, type 'h' into the trasmit (left) window and it will autocomplete to hexadecimal, then you can type e.g. FF FF EF (or whatever) on one line, then some other code on another, and run a line at a time. so u can have a lint for init, one for streaming something or other, one for stoping streaming, etc. the trial version has a decent amount of functionality (i think after 10 minutes or something u need to restart it, but never really impacted me too much)
-
sorry, i should have been more specific - does anyone have the pinout/wiring diagram specifying which pins on the hicas unit (say R32 GTR) are the consult lines
-
does anyone have a wiring diagram for the hicas unit consult lines? (or know where in the r32 engine manual it is?
-
if the cat suggested it then it was probably lookrs232

i can do $65 ($10 off) for forum members paying via bank deposit (pm me when youre ready mentioning that). cost of cables has gone up $5 for recent batches as more parts of the assembly is contracted out compared to the first batch. itll come with a cd with usb drivers, and ecutalk (and other) software.
