Cheers, I'll be getting a local licensed garage to go over suspension, waiting to hear back from consumer affairs about the rims.
-
Yep, I'll learn - the hard way!!!!

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know how car dealerships can shaft you... or they think they can:D I purchased my R33 almost 2 months ago from a car yard out the other side of Melbourne. When I first inspected the car it had about 58,000kms on it, pretty well stock and in good nick. The only non-standard stuff was the sound system and a turbo timer. As there were a few R33's there I wanted the dealer to throw in something a little extra to sweeten the deal, this being a set of Volk Challenge rims. These rims were on another car at the time, but they said they could work something out... The rims had a few gutter scrapes and what not on em, but they were going to fix them up, as well as give the car a detail. I picked up my car and went for a drive down the country, and noticed that the steering wheel was shaking a bit (which didn't happen when it had the stockies on), so I took it into Pedders for a suspension check - seemed the logical thing to do. The car failed about 5 tests, mainly ball joints and what not, and they said that this car wouldn't pass a roadworthy. They also suggested getting the wheels balanced too. I did this and then found out that one of the rear wheels was buckled:mad: I was now very pissed off, as I had 1 buckled wheel, which also didn't have a roadworthy tyre on it, as well as $2000 worth of suspension that needed to be replaced... Seeing as this car was still under statutory warranty, I informed the dealership and they asked me to fax them the Pedders quote, which I did. They then asked me to drop the car in for them to look at, which I did on Monday. During this time, I called consumer affairs to know where I stood... And they told me what I needed to know. Anyway, today the dealership rings up and says that there's nothing wrong with the car and that it's roadworthy. They then told me that they weren't going to do anything with the rims, as they are 2nd hand - go figure! As well as this, they've manage to snap the front wheel stud off and blamed it on the tyre joint for tightening it up too much and wont pay for it to be replaced, but I'm up for $88 for them to fix it. And then to rub it in, they're going to charge me for having the car looked at!!!! So as you can understand, I'm very pissed off:mad: I've lodged a complaint with consumer affairs, and have talked to Vicroads. Vicroads informed me that I need to go to another licensed roadworthy joint and get them to look at it. If they then give me the pic/regection slip I need then I need to talk to some other mob, who'll investigate. Someone told me that I should have had this all looked at before, but the dealership told me that they do a thourough check over the vehicle and they don't give out bodgy roadworthies (note that they don't do the roadworthy themselves). Anyone else had something like this happen?

Hey Jimbo, I bit the bullet and went for the 7.5lt, as I'm aiming for 250kw. I think you should make your decision on what sort of power you want to achieve. You can get em on ebay for $220 which is a good price, I think batmbl is also selling em, but his prices are a bit more (I think). Cheers, Kyran.

I also would like to "look" at an R33 manual. $20 here if you need it!

I too am going to put 6x9's in my R33, as I don't believe in paying for stuff that's really not that hard to do, even if you don't have a clue, like me:) Do you really have to make a whole new parcel shelf though? I took everything out yesterday, as I wanted to get rid of the navigation system. I was gonna trace out the speaker spacers onto some mdf, punch and fit in my 6x9's then drill the 3 holes to hold it onto the shelf. I'm not sure if everyone's covers are the same, but mine are like massive! The only thing I'll be paying for is for some hippy at Mitre10 to cut out my mdf. Cheers, will let you know if it works...

TerryM, yup you'll probablly need to get an alarm to solve your central locking problems and give you a bit of piece of mind. Any chance on getting a copy of that manual:)

I would have put this in the classifieds section, but it's not letting me, anyway; I've got a complete (mius amp) Phillips sound system that I've had laying around and want to get rid of; GTM RC438 4x30W Tape/Radio Head Unit (rrp $330) 2RRC026/50 6 stacker (rrp $395) GTM 1725 16.5cm 2-way 170W speakers (rrp $140) GTM 6295 6x9 2-way 200W speakers (rrp $210) All this gear was pulled out of my old car about 3 years ago. There's a few scratches on the stacker, but works fine. None of this gear has ever been amplified and is in good working order. Cheap system, looking for offers over $400.

Same boat as Paulr33, I have a type-m front bar. I think it's safe to say that we should expect an extra 20KW at least??? -
My 2 cents; I too am new to Skylines, and am currenlty contemplating mods. Full turbo-back exhaust, Apexi S-AFC II, FMIC and fuel pump will be my first mods. You really can't go past the FMIC! Pods are a waste of money (my opinion), and remember you're only allowed 1 intake mod, or else the boys in blue will give you a nice piece of paper:)

Hey guys, just wanting to know if anyone's put an R33 GTR turbo into a GTST... What, if any, difference did this make?

I've got a set of 17x8 BSA polished rims that I don't need, as they wont fit the Skyline. These rims are in immac condition, with 215x45 rubber on them, that don't have much tread left. Open to offers over $1000, please e-mail [email protected] Cheers.

Cheers, thanks alot guys, I think I'll get the o2 sensor looked at ASAP. Just another question, has anyone here vented their standard BOV to atmosphere? If so, your thoughts...

Hey guys, After purchasing my GTST I took it down country way and got about 400kms out of a tank, which is a 2/3rds of what I'd get out of the Suby, but it's a 6 so I spose that's acceptable??? Well after the country trip I re-filled and it looks like I'm going to get about 200kms out of tank for city driving!!!!! Is this normal guys??? I haven't been givin it heaps either, just casual city driving.... I was thinking of fitting a fuel pressure regulator, is this the fix for it???? Any help would be great. Cheers, Kyran.

Thanks guys for your imput. NAM's Electronics in Sydney said that they can convert the whole system to PAL for around $1100, and apparently they've done it before... PaulR33, thanks mate for info, I'll check my system out tonite. This unit also has a 12 disc stacker (Pioneer P1200) which, Pioneer said isn't standard with the Carrozzeria model, but I can hook it up to any of the Pioneer "P" series head units... Pity I just bought a new Alpine MP3 player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers guys, Kyran.

Sweet, thanks mate!

My GTST has a Pioneer Carrozzeria sound system (TV, GPS capability, Tape, Radio and Mini-Disc stacker), but after speaking with Pioneer, they don't have a converter for AUS TV stations. Does anyone know if you can sell these back to Japan? Is there someone around that would buy this? Pioneer said that this system retails as $4200! Everything bar the TV is working, it even has 2 GPS/Street Directories for Japan in it!!!
