  1. By gears, what gears exactly do you mean & was this necessary to do in order to have it work? Also, do you have any pictures of these modifications?
  2. I've just read everything in this thread to-date & am following it with great anticipation! I'd really like to do this build at some stage as well and am really hoping it works out for you - kudos to you sir for taking-on this monumental build on! I had a few questions if you don't mind? - Are the specs of the pistons etc on the first page the current/updated ones? - Was it any bother to fit the N1 oil pumps & water pumps from the RB26 or do they just bolt-up? - Did you use the RB20 oil squirters for the pistons or the RB25 ones?* *I'm not sure if there's any difference between the RB20 & 25 ones but I know there's a fundamental design difference between the RB25 & 26 piston cooling methods (spray-pattern on the RB25 pistons VS directional squirting with the RB26 with cooling channels in the pistons) so just wondering if the angle of spray dispersal or volume would be different for the RB20's naturally slimmer bores VS the 25's. 3. Cheers for that DaveB! Only issue I've found is in looking for internals for it like rods/pistons etc or even thresholds for how far you can push the standard internals, same thing with the HG or even if someone makes a metal head gasket?
  4. Sorry about digging up an old post: @ Rezz, you seem to know a good bit about these engines - do you know is it possible to get cams, pistons, con-rods or even whole stroker-kits for these engines? Having serious difficulty in finding any information on them. I've a thread posted up here in an effort to find out some info: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Vq...on-t198413.html Cheers for any help in advance! JP
  5. Yep! Seems so... & all the lads in the US & UK are wondering why I want to keep the cc as low as I do! For the moment, I'm not complaining! Lol! Now I understand why it's so hard to find any info on these! Thanks for that link - I'll have a look & see if I can get anything from "Modified M35's" on Google but so-far seems fruitless. No-one on here uprated them at all, no? Does anyone know how much the bottom-end can take before melting?
  6. The engines I'm not too sure about yet, trying to find management at the moment. I know VQ30DET's are cheap enough but I want the smaller capacity one to start with, then I can start looking at interchangeable parts etc. Same bottom-end yeah, but it's the head & the fact that it's the smaller cc that matters to me because of the tax-system over here which is based on the cc of your engine, not the emissions (for now) or anything else. So for example I'm paying €539 per year for a 2L now, a 2.5L is €821/961 depending which side of the 2500cc mark you are, & 3L + is €1343! Multiply those numbers by 1.5 & you'll get the rough OZD equivalent & that's before you put fuel in the tank! Oh, & those figures just increased by 9%, 11% & 11% respectively there the other week so you can see why I want to keep the engine's original cc low. Has anyone even seen engine management or any performance parts for these at all? There must be some somewhere that aren't in Japanese??
  7. Hi folks, Only new to the site so thought I'd say hi first! I'm from Ireland (Dublin) and am searching most of the english-speaking globe (cause I don't speak Japanese ) for info on the VQ25 & its capabilites with a view to doing an engine-swop from a CA18DET (from a Nissan 200SX S13) to the VQ25DET & eventually make it a DETT! A friend guided me to this site as there seems to be a good few people on here with Stageas & the engine in question as you know wasn't exactly made for very long so the more people I can find that have them the better! Has anyone on here modified or knows of anyone who has modified a VQ25 to produce some decent power or who has swopped things like inlet plenums, exhaust manifolds, turbos etc on them? I'm trying to source both the engine & performance parts for it at the moment. JP
