Just road tuned an rb20det with a kinugawa td06-20g 8cm iwg today.
Typical struggle with boost control, but severe porting and flowing of the wastegate seemed to get that under control.
Hits the rollers in a month, should be interesting, i can do a comparison with hellaflush7's result!
Yeah, i drove it the other day (not my car by the way i have two in nz) I think the new mazda would eat it! it's a bit of a joke, looks good, but thats it.
Going to take it for a drive now actually, go get some pizza!!
Check this out.. This is what was happening on my dyno in the weekend, gutted i wasn't there.

Need to buy another one over here, need something to do while i'm on r and r!!
Sounds like it's over charging. When the alt light is on it usually means they're either not charging or over charging. There should be two smaller wires going to the alternator L and S
L = light, S = sense. If you don't have the sense wire connected the alternator will output 12 to 17v, which will cook your battery nice and quick.
Yeah, you are just around the corner. Im on sandstone blvd, have to catch up sometime. The 32 (not mine by the way) will be up for sale soon. We're going to build a drift 31, i've still got so many parts in nz so should be reasonably cheap!!
I'm just off the island too, ningi is where i'm living. Been driving a bright green r32 with a bodykit around, looks semi okay, but it's only a 20det with a vg turbo on it.
Haven't seen your skyline around yet, must be a bit of a handfull to drive.
I'm allmost certain it's tuning now looking at fuel and timing maps. That boost plot backs it up too. I find when tuning if I run too little timing in power i'll get boost creep. What you've posted shows boost starting to rise as the timing drops off, that means most of the energy is being released in the exhaust.
New tuner time.
That timing map is pretty average. Looks like a huge reduction at around 5krpm-20psi drops like 3-5deg then back up at 6k. I'd imagine that'd feel pretty flat through there.
Did the tuner say anything about the engine wanting to knock?
Even 5800rpm may be too high. I tested mine on my dyno and the difference was pretty big, turn off 5600 peak power 300kw at 7000, turn off 6000 down to about 280kw at 7000.
Yea ive got camgears somewhere, we mucked around with the switching points for vct when on the dyno ended up leaving it on untill 5600.
I will throw one on the exhaust cam next tune and have a play.
Update time.
Made 300kw on 16-17psi and e85.
I did end up with more but i was running out of fuel. I think it's time for a new fuel filter.
Will retune on 98 and e85 with more boost a bit down the track.
Out of interest what plugs should i be running?
What sort of timing no's should i expect up top? Currently it's around 17-18deg.
Thanks
Off the return, that way the fpr will hold it at the correct pressure/restriction. It should be a reasonable indication of the flow as long as there are no other restrictions. Eg. Blocked fuel filter crimped line ect.
