  1. I like it, something different! Nicely executed too
  2. Having done Calder Park yesterday this is a 'note to self' for scrutineering next time: Fire extinguisher needs to have a date (mine didn't?! must have been a Bunnings special) That date needs to be less 3 years old They also check the expiration date on the harness if you have one Does anyone know what the go is with the age of the helmet? The guy looked at mine and passed it but I don't think there's a date on it and it's positively ancient... Also I'm pretty sure there's a date somewhere on the Sparco fixed back, does that need to be valid for club level events?
  3. This was an excellent day and it was great to meet some of the SAU crew too! Thanks for lunch too, nice cooking Andrew Car ran well bar some loose manifold-to-turbo nuts, driver needs more practice
  4. Car is prepped, semis are on, SAU stickers added ... can't wait!
  5. Rhino Lip is the cheapest option and survives the curb rash: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367338-diy-universal-lip/?p=7167621 Mine is starting to get a little ragged now after two years but will last another year at least. Hard lip would have been long gone by now with them bloody speed bumps. Obviously it does little for actual aero but I'm not sure a hard lip does that much either... Edit: Photos from 2014:
  6. From all the research I did recently the RS3 is an all-round better crossover tyre than the 595RSR, which was originally my first choice. If you can stretch your budget another 20% or so that'd be my pick. AD08R is better still, although still not a 'proper' semi.
  7. Good price, I've got this clutch holding 275rwkw well. GLWS
  8. Here's some recent Nov '15 pricing info if you're looking at true semi's: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/395003-circuit-semi-slicks/?p=7639874 I ended up going with R888R's for my 34 sedan.
  9. Thanks guys, looks like a combination of old pads, flat steel, spanners etc did it. Would have been quicker to just take the calipers off I have ordered the tool Trex posted above to see if it saves some hassle next time.
  10. Thanks mate! What's the best way to compress the pistons with the caliper off, without a tool like that? That tool does actually make sense if it's big enough - pull pads out on both sides and push opposing pistons in using the tool. The other typical issue is the other piston popping up when you compress the other on the same side, so ideally you'd have two of these tools...
  11. Hi guys, This is a really basic question but I can't find a clear answer: Is there a good way to change front brake pads without removing calipers? I read somewhere to turn old pad sideways and lever against the disc using it. I've tried this but it's still really hard going, the pistons are really tight. I have removed the brake fluid reservoir top too. Any tips on how to do this easier? Do I need a special tool? The car is an R34 GTT with the standard Sumitomo calipers.
  12. Entered, weather forecast is looking good. Just need to prep the car now, mostly just small stuff. Can't wait.
  13. I've had plenty of dramas with my kit so would highly recommend doing your homework on what exactly you're after. Have a scan of these: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/461812-oil-cooler-recommendations-for-r34-gtt/ http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/462362-oil-cooler-too-eager-faulty-thermostat-or-incorrect-temp-sensor-location/ The one part that's performed flawlessly in my install is the Mocal/MIH Performance core, which looks very similar to the one in this thread. GLWS and sorry for the hijack to OP
  14. So who's done Calder before, how is it? Is still going to be fun with that chicane in place?
  15. Cheers mate. Too hard with the crimp fittings, I found some on eBay but they're in the US and probably require special tools to fit (plus no guarantee on fitment with existing hose). It's a shame, the hose length is sufficient and existing fittings at the other end are both fine. Getting new hoses and four new fittings is probably going to cost more than the whole cooler kit did originally, plus labour #carlife
  16. Theory is that I would get them as a no cost replacement to my current tyres but sounds like it's a no go. I might look at getting another brand, see if I can offload them and get some rs3's instead. I know it's a superior tyre.
  17. Oh ok that explains. So basically there's no way to just cut off the crimp fitting and replace it with the Speedflow type because of the different diameters?
  18. Definitely not sure. This said Speedflow 100 series and 200 series are both the same OD, 400 series is a little thicker but still not as thick as what my kit came with. There's every possibility that it's some custom China hose with unobtainium fittings..
  19. Cheers guys, good input. I was just about to order the fittings but run into trouble with the sizing - the Speedflow '100 series' hose in AN10 is listed as 20.3mm Outer Diameter, however the hose on my kit is much thicker, around 24mm. Whatta? Looking at this photo on their website the fitting seems to 'taper in' on the hose side: – my existing hoses seem chunkier: My fittings are definitely AN10 because that previously discussed AN10 adapter with the sensor port works. I don't get it. I'm now hesitant to order the fittings as I'm not sure if the hose OD and ID will match those of a different brand...
  20. Called both and neither have AN10 on the shelf, Pirtek can order Speedflow in. Another brand they mentioned was Proflow, apparently these are both better than Aeroflow..? Also sounded a bit iffy about the installation ('bring it in mate and we'll have a look') so I wonder if I might just do it myself, can't be that hard right? Famous last words.. What would be awesome is doing it under the car so I wouldn't have to touch the core end.. I don't think that's an option though because of the metal shavings from cutting the hose, need to rinse it all out somehow.
  21. Thanks! Would you be able to PM me a quote for the full kit with harness, bracket and OEM GM or aftermarket coils please?
  22. Any chance there would be a version of the conversion harness and bracket for RB25DET Neo on the way?
  23. Yup you got it. Do you reckon just swapping the fittings on the existing hoses is sufficient? The cooler core end is completely dry, no leaks there in either hose, but I am starting to lose faith in the Driftworks kit overall..
  24. Lucky you, I must have done it all the hard way
