Yeah I've got JJR too, it's fine. I had the workshop to shave back the flange as per these instructions, and also had a flexi join installed just after the bottom bend as the mid muffler scrapes every now and then and I don't want to wreck the turbo. Works well.

Cool car and great photos! Any idea on how the sidewall writing was done? Kinda keen on Goodyear stencils for mine

Hey mate, I've been on a similar journey recently, also with an R34 auto. Have a look at these threads: From 200 To 250-280 Rwkw In An R34 Gtt? Aka Yet Another 'aiming For' Thread The results on Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results thread The Hypergear thread Mine's currently at 257rwkw but people are getting 290rwkw+ of virtually identical setup in a manual so you're looking at about 40rwkw loss from the auto. In other words, if your aim is 300rwkw look for setups that produce around 340rwkw in a manual car. Also factor in some work on the gearbox as it won't take these power levels. From the cost point of view, you'll be looking at anywhere between 5 to 10k depending on if you use new or second hand parts and how much of the work you get done at a workshop. If you want to do it properly and get a full monty rebuild for the gearbox it's probably more still. If I was to do mine again I would probably go an OEM highflow instead of a completely new turbo. It'd be less powerful but more responsive and much easier to install. Also, don't forget the big question - why 300rwkw? Have you driven a 300rwkw car? No point chasing numbers for their own sake Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm not complaining, just trying to work out what I should expect in terms of fuel consumption and if there's something I could improve in my setup, tune or driving style. Coincidentally, there is a recent thread on the LS1 forums with people reporting their gas mileage, which I found quite useful. It confirms that city driving/low speeds really kill the economy with high powered cars.
-
Umm, I expected maybe a 20% increase in fuel consumption? My previous car with a 5.7 litre LS1 and 293rwkw drank an average of 16.9 l/100km, just as another reference point. But yeah keen to hear what others are getting.

Hi all, I did a quick search but couldn't find much on fuel economy so I thought I'd post this up. I've got an R34 GTT auto with a recently installed Hypergear ATR43SS2 and supporting mods (full list here), currently running 257rwkw. I always keep track of my fuel expenses and I measure consumpsion by filling up fully every time and noting down the odo reading. Here's an overview: Completely stock 150rwkw, overall average of 12.2 litres/100km over 8,000 kms Stock turbo with upped boost and Nistune with supporting mods 199rwkw, overall average of 11.9 litres/100km over 18,000kms I've only filled up the car the three times since having the Hypergear installed, however the average consumption is currently sitting at 16.4 litres/100km. Granted it's been a lot of city driving but it's still a pretty silly figure. What kind of economy (litres/100km) are you guys getting out of your 250rwkw+ setups?
-
Yeah thought about it but no thanks, many little mods add up to too much work. It'll be more cost effective to just convert. Cool, what'd you end up doing back then?

Umm, I'm trying to get my head around GTScotT's and Lithium's discussion above ... Can someone please summarise why running a high PSI actuator is not ideal? Thanks

Still looking for recommendations for shops or mechanics to do a quality manual conversion in Melbourne. Cheers
-
It's pretty much the same deal with the stock manifold, my SS2 fits but only just (on an R34). The actuator to chassis clearance is 1 or 2 mm so it's tight. Also due to the overall length of the turbo the intake and OEM intercooler piping will need some customisation. For a direct bolt-on a highflow is the easier option.

Thread resurrect. I am thinking about a manual conversion for my R34 GTT auto - can anybody recommend a workshop or mechanic who's experienced with this? Preferably in Melb inner/mid suburbs. I'd be interested in getting some quotes for this supplied & fitted, or just the labour. Thanks!
-
That's a very good result, I assume it's a manual? Is it possible to get a list of supporting mods? I know that the auto driveline wastes power but there's a 36 rwkw difference between this and my R34 auto (same boost), which seems like quite a bit.

Ok, those look like the new ones. Mine are remanufactured Denso/OEM and look like this: http://www.gtmotorsports.com/product.php?productid=17275&cat=335&page=1

Which Deatschwerks are you using, the older high flows or the current generation ones ( like these http://www.deatschwerks.com/products/fuel-injectors/sport-compact/nissan/skyline/neo-rb25det/1998-02-neo-rb25det )? I have a set of 800cc high flows with SS2 and a similar power level. The only popping I'm getting is occasionally when lifting off rapidly on high boost. They seem to idle fine.

Help Me With My Dyno Problem Please!

+1 for busted CAS, here's what mine looked like (black = broken, green = fixed): I'd get that compression issue looked at, too. -
