  1. I just got a second hand HKS Super Drager catback (for R33 GTS-t) with the intention of getting it modified to suit my R34 GTT sedan. I thought I'd have to add some extra piping but looking under the car it seems the other way around, I may have to cut some off! The stock cat rear is roughly where the HKS front muffler front would be. The cat sits basically under the passenger seat (you can just see at the bottom of the photo) and the front pipe is seriously long: Did all the R34 Sedans (this is series 1) come with this arrangement i.e. front pipe straight after dump, before the cat?? Does any manufacturer make thicker front pipes (3" or so) for these things or do you have to go custom?
  2. Chasers use a guy who do the machining on the car to save pulling them out.
  3. Got this done at Chasers, great service as usual!
  4. There more recent fuel economy discussion here.
  5. I'd like to know this too, anyone? For R34 GTT specifically. I just got some King Springs that apparently have the following rates: - Front: KDFL-101 X: 205 lbs per inch - Rear: KDRL-61: 175 lbs per inch I'd like to compare these to stock rates before putting them on the car (R34 GTT sedan). Thanks
  6. Hi all, I'm chasing for one RB25DE/RB25DET Neo OEM coil pack in Melbourne, to suit R34 GTT. It should have HANSHIN MCP-1440 written on it and look like the photo below. Must be in good condition, working fine, and from an engine with less than 100,000 kms on it. Primary & secondary resistance within tolerance and no cracks, tape, silicone or other home jobs please. Just bought a set of 5 for $80, now chasing for the 6th one... will pick up within 30km from Melbourne. Please PM me with your price & location if you have a leftover one from a previous upgrade. Thanks!
  7. Awesome stuff!! Can you post a pic of the setup when you get a chance, curious to see how these shots were taken. I trust you've seen the recent Speedhunters auto photography features: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/07/01...giou-gt-gt.aspx http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/07/05...xas-outlaw.aspx http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/07/02...-rusty-bmw.aspx Especially the Costas work is crazy!
  8. It's been done by BezerkR32 - R32 Ls1 Conversion: *ducks*
  9. I was looking for the same thing recently and found this great read: Replacing an oxygen sensor on a R34 GTR This is what Nissan DataScan shows for a stuffed sensor (top graph): and with a properly functioning O2 sensor: Note that the GT-R has two sensors but the principle is exactly the same. R34 owners read this is you don't have access to DataScan: R34 Oxygen Sensor Test, Great 5 Min Test ( GTR not included ) My O2 was stuffed and I got a brand new OEM one from Kudos. I has clearly improved the fuel economy.
  10. Sorry guys, not having a go but "k's to a tank" is not a reliable measure of fuel economy. This is probably obvious but here's how to calculate your fuel economy: 1. Fill up the fuel tank completely and record odometer reading 2. Drive normally until the tank is close to empty 3. Fill up the tank again again completely and record odometer reading & litres filled 4. Subtract previous odometer reading from current = distance travelled 5. Divide litres filled by [distance travelled / 100] = your fuel economy in l/100km 6. Repeat from step 2 Example: Say your previous refill was at 100,000 km and the current odometer reading is 100,400 km. You just put in 50 litres of petrol. Your fuel economy is: Tips: - Ask for tax invoice when paying as it includes litres filled - I normally scribble my odo reading on the tax invoice - Always fill the tank up completely! Otherwise this won't work - If you're really keen you can record individual economy readings and calculate an average over time... Hope this helps More on topic, my current readings for the R34 GTT are in the 13-14.5 l/100km range for mixed driving. Bog stock.
  11. Cool, thanks for that!
  12. Out of curiosity, what's the best way to do that? Disconnect coil pack harness plugs one by one?
  13. Hey mate, I had a similar issue with my R34. It could be the rocker cover gaskets but could also just be spillage from a careless oil change. I cleaned mine up best I could before pulling the plugs out to prevent crap falling into the cylinders. My plugs are also gapped down to 0.5mm now as my coil packs on their way out, I will regap them to 0.8mm once I get a new set. Some further tips on resolving a misfire here.
  14. Hey mate looks like you're based in Adelaide but most of the links are for VIC cars. If you're looking to buy a moderately to highly modified example make sure you work our what's required for Regency before the purchase. Interstate transfers can be a hassle for modified cars...
  15. I've seen prices between $50-$100 per wheel depending on how much work is needed (repairs might be more still) and how much of the prep you do yourself. Not really worth it for the GTT stockies I reckon, just saw a whole set advertised for $150...
  16. Awesome, thanks heaps for this Dori34! So basically all you need is a 15-20cm extension for the rear pipe (before rear muffler) to convert an R34 Coupe system for a Sedan. Sounds like a run of the mill job for an exhaust joint. Does anyone know the differences between the R33 GTSt Coupe and R34 GTT Coupe systems?
  17. Hi all, I am getting some fresh brake pads for my R34 GTT taxi and wouldn't mind getting the rotors machined first. I believe they've never been skimmed before and all four have slight lip on them. Stock brakes all around. Do you know a decently priced (read: cheap) brake workshop in Melbourne (inner-mid suburbs) that you can recommend? Getting new rotors is not really an option due to cost. Thanks
  18. This might have helped but looks like the photos have gone awol: http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1279468
  19. Sounds strange. Just a guess - have you checked your Crank Angle Sensor? Took me a long time to identify that as the cause for my misfire issue.
  20. Even the overall catback system length Sedan vs. Coupe would be useful
  21. Perhaps I'm missing something here but what's the idea behind the 'Tank: Full' and 'Tank: Half' separation? I'm used to measuring fuel consumption by filling it up to full tank every time (noting litres filled) and then subtracting current odo reading from previous refill's for exact kms....
  22. Hi all, I had a quick look around but couldn't find an answer: Does anyone have the service manual diagram or similar for R34 GTT Sedan exhaust system with the measurements (length) for all parts: 1. Dump pipe 2. Catalyser 3. Front pipe 4. Front muffler 5. Rear pipe 6. Rear muffler Also if you have the above for the R34 GTT Coupe or R33 GTSt Coupe that would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to work out what's involved in modifying R34 GTT Coupe or R33 GTSt Coupe exhaust system (turbo back or just catback) for R34 GTT Sedan - is it just adding extra piping before or after the front muffler, or is it more complicated than that? The sedan systems are pretty hard to come by and pricey... I know that the system is longer than the coupe one. I found a good pic of two systems here: Also a useful diagram from the R34 Gtr Exhaust In R34 Gtt thread: R34 GTT (assume coupe): Thanks in advance!
  23. +1 for http://www.stateroads.com.au/ , I got my R34 GTT inspected by them before buying it a month or two ago. It's not cheap though at $289 for the comprehensive inspection but you will know heaps more about what you're buying. I also got a quick second opinion by the workshop that did the roadworthy and then took it to Chasers to address one tricky issue. MaddehZ your RACV inspection report doesn't look too bad provided that the inspector wasn't completely clueless, IMHO. Have a look at the Local Wreckers And Workshops thread for a knowledgeable workshop near you to get that stuff sorted.
