Hey strutto He's the guy that installed my S-AFCII today. He did a great job, thanks mate I've been fiddling with all the monitoring settings, this unit is so cool. I havent dared to touch the air/fuel curve yet. Its a great unit though, still trying to work out how to set the knock sensor though, i havent driven it much yet to note what the knock value is yet. Any info on a generalised air/fuel settings would be great.

Use ya mums/sisters/girlfriends hair dryer. It will make the glue unstick easier and just be patient and take it off

That sucks dude. I dont think theres much you can do though, just dont deal with them again and warn all ya mates. Word of mouth goes very far. -
Very nice car dude! I'm sure your going to be more then impressed. And yes that is going to suck waiting so long i hate that feeling! PS strutto check ur PM

Shit strutto thats a nice setup you've got there. I'd be interested in a tv/dvd for the car in the future but i just wanna know how often do u actually use it? I reckon if i got one it would just be for wank factor hehe

i had a silvia and it was quick and mod for mod as people have said the s13 has the edge over the skyline Dont be worried about that though. Skylines are such a nicer refined car. I can actually fit people in my backseat now Its got plenty of room and its a very cruisy car. The build quality is much better and overall a nicer car to drive. But if u want best bang for your buck a s13 will get you good times on a budget.

You did good for your first go down the strip. As people have said buy some pineapples, let down the pressure in the tyres and pracitse your launches and youll beable to shave a bit off that time. -
mine only took 2 days from japan to Aus so yours should be very close or its at customs. Just check that EMS number they give you to track where it is. Thats cool if you dont go and get it tuned right away. I'd rather wait till i have my fmic so it only needs tuning once. So yeah send me a PM and we can work something out Thanks man much appreciated Matt

Hey Strutto, My S-AFCII arrived today. I've been looking at the wiring diagram and im having second thoughts about installing it myself. You seem knowlegdable and i was wondering when you install yours maybe we could organise to meet up and install mine too. I'll pay you in beer, burbon, cash whatever Then perhaps we can goto Gavin's and get ours tuned together. I wont be getting my fmic till january and i dont wanna wait that long to install/tune it. Although im pretty sure Gavin is very busy from now till he goes on holidays soon, so we might not beable to get in anyway. Let me know what you think dude Matt.

How much? do you only have one? or going to be getting more? -
Theres a place at burleigh junction in the industrial section opposite the billabong factory. I went there when i owned my s13 and they had shitloads of parts, i saw quite alot of skyline parts too. I cant remember the name but the phone number is 5593 6888

Hey guys I've got a R33 thats auto and i wanna know how much power i can run through this? I did a search and some people said it only holds upto about 180rwkw? I plan on doing a few mods to my car and have a goal of 200rwkw. I dont have alot of money to convert to manual (i know its somewhere around 3k) plus i like the auto for cruising. Is there anything i can do to strengthen the box if necessary? Will just putting synthetic trans oil in and servicing it be enough? What about a trans cooler? how much are they? I don't want to comprimise any reliablity of my car. I like having peace of mind that everything will work properly and i've learnt the hard way that prevention is better then cure Cheers, Matt

Dude its quite a shit industry.......the pay is shit, your employers will more then likely be assholes. I think it would be pretty hard finding a job working in a performance shop....If you do get a job in the industry it will be changing oil in falcodores at your local dodgy mechanic Unless you find a place that is passionate about their work and will look after you then i think you are better off in your admin job. With summer coming up i know id rather be inside in a nice air conditioned room then sweating my ass off fixing cars that idiots dont know how to look after. I dont wanna turn you off if its what you really want to do, but i'm just letting you know the reality of how things are.

RWC costs about $50 to get done. I'm not exacly sure on the process but im sure all you have to do is get a RWC then goto queensland transport pay for rego and they should issue you with QLD plates and you surrender your VIC ones. Give them a call before you go there and ask if there is anything else required. I'm sure its pretty straight forward.

Yeah Busky2k, I found the best method is to put my left foot on the brake and right foot on the accel and rev to about 2k then launch. Is this the best method? Any higher revs and i just lose traction and wheelspin through first. My rear tyres are a shitty tyre though... so i think if i get some quality tyres on the back and perhaps some pinapples (im not sure if these would do anything?) that would help alot. I never realised how quick those genIII commodores are haha i get hosed by them everytime...i havent raced a stock one yet so maybe i could keep up with that. This is my first decent car and its lots of fun having good runs with other good cars

MJ replied to Dominic's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I guess i was really lucky getting my r33 for 14k. The guy i bought it off lost his job and couldnt afford to keep it..He was the first owner in aus and it came in stock, and hes the only one to do the mods. i felt sorta bad taking it off him for a low price cuz its such a nice car and ive had no problems whatsoever, if he wasnt in a rush to sell im sure he could have got 18k for it. At least i wont lose any money when i sell it again so i dont mind modding it up -
I know the apexi website has the new model wiring diagrams. If it doesnt have the old afc diagram maybe you could email them? Also the ecu pin-out list should be the same as on the newer models, i dont see how that would differ? anyway if u do download from that site you also need the japanese lanuage pack, which is on their site somewhere.

I'm pissed off, i went cruising tonight and i lost everytime!! mind you i wasnt racing riceboxes...now im starting to think something is wrong with my car hehe Its probably just me though, i havent owned the car long and plus its auto so i cant rev it up much at the lights and dump the clutch to get good launches. oh well fmic and s-afcII is on order im hoping that will give me enough power to keep up with most modified cars around
-
yeah Pekatu thats normal It should always stay at 1/2 no matter what. Any more and your in trouble!! I learnt this the hard way, i blew the head gasket on my last car and it cost me $$$ The stock gauge is fairly accurate, but an aftermarket one it will go up or down +/- a few degree's depending if you thrash it or just cruising... Always keep coolent/water in your boot and if you ever see the guage go over 1/2 pull over before it gets too hot and see where a leak may be. Then top up your radiator and cruise your car to home/mechanics
