Looking at selling a full set of Nissan (R32) Skyline GT-R calipers. These are manufactured by Sumitomo and are an alloy caliper, not cast iron - therefore considerably light. These would make a great upgrade to an S13 or S14. This set will not come with rotors, but GT-R rotors are available from various locations from time to time. Otherwise, a new set of rotors would be ideal due to the R32 GT-R rotors now starting to crack in some cases from hard track work. Aftermarket rotors can be bought from DBA in solid, slotted or slotted and drilled formats. These calipers have not yet been removed from the car, and will come with the pads (although these are almost ready for replacement). If someone is looking to just get the front calipers, please find someone first who's likely to want the rears (there are a few ppl on these forums that already have front brake upgrades). You should also be aware that to fit these you'll require a set of R33 GTSt handbrake cables for the rear calipers to fit up correctly. Fitting of these calipers should really be done by a workshop (I know C-Red in Perth has performed this upgrade on both S13, S14 and S15's in the past) and have a braided line upgrade done at the same time to improve pedal feel. I will post up photos later tonight. Expect these to be available within 2 weeks, or earlier if required. Price: $650.00 for front and rears (buyer to pay shipping outside of Perth Metro) Cheers Brendan PM me if you would like to take the transaction further, otherwise post questions should you have any.

Bridgestone 540's 17in

Hehehe. Would be nice, but the Silvia is the track car for the time being. GT-R will have to stay as the family car for a little while longer. Thanks for the info on the events. May have to skip the Albany event but have diarised the Wanneroo one. Cheers Brendan -

Mayhem Would that TNB Strut Tower bar fit up to a GT-R or would it be GTSt only? Cheers Brendan -
Steve Is there a site for the Hybrid coolers - ie. what sizes etc are available and at what cost. Also, do the Hybrid coolers come as kits or do they require a workshop to make the piping up? I suppose the beauty of some of these 'branded' kits is that they (supposedly) come with all the bits and pieces for those who are DIY'ers to plumb them up at home saving some bucks on workshop labour. Anyway, get back to us on the Hybrid information and kit prices. Cheers Brendan
-
Oh, and I forgot to mention that I would rather have a non-polished cooler. I think they attract a slightly higher cost, but I'll be painting mine black anyway to keep it as stock looking as possible. Polished pipes is OK though if no choice on the piping side of things.

Hehehe, would be good. I think I'm way over my head budget wise anyway. Not sure how I'll be able to swing this one. Adrian, will the purchase be made via credit card or direct debit?
-
Hey Adrian I'm assuming these are full kits with all piping, silicon hoses and clamps? For the price that you're looking at it sounds like an awesome deal. Would be looking for a kit for an R32 GT-R of nothing less than 100mm in thickness. Would a kit such as this be possible? Cheers Brendan

Single-plate VS Twin-plate on R32 GT-R (everydayer)
VSPEC32 replied to VSPEC32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well ladies and gents, we've made a decision on what clutch we're going with. Thanks to Paul and Brett for lending us the keys to the rides for a test of two twin-plate clutches. Paul's has an OS-Giken in it and it was rather easy to control, partly attributed to the power-assisted clutch in the Skyline. I was half comparing to the standard GT-R clutch, and the RG clutch in the Silvia and it came in about half way. Brett's clutch is an unknown twin at this point, and was pretty much close to a standard feel. All in all the wife was pretty happy with the decision to go the twin plate OS-Giken. Thanks again for all the comments. Cheers Brendan -

Single-plate VS Twin-plate on R32 GT-R (everydayer)
VSPEC32 replied to VSPEC32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks Emre, I must also point out that once the engine has been rebuilt it will easily be putting out over 350rwhp considering it put down 302rwhp at only 0.75 bar but was running out of air and fuel (now solved with purchase of 660cc injectors and z32 afms). Would a rebuilt standard be able to handle this sort of power and more knowing I will be taking it down to the drags once in a blue moon. Cheers Brendan -

What about the advantages of the lightened flywheel on the twin-plate vs the std flywheel on a rebuilt clutch? Cheers Brendan -

Thanks dude, good feedback. Well yeah, definitely looking hard at the OS-Giken. Have managed to arrange to drives on Saturday of twin-plates. Thanks to Paul and Brett on that. The standard R32 GT-R flywheel is about 9.5kg, most lightened flywheels will be around 3kg lighter - well the Nismo single plate flywheel is anyway. -

Yeah, when the clutch is disengaged (ie. you haven't got your foot down), the sound you hear will be the plates vibrating around - it's normal. Now, back on topic - anyone with twin-plates who have their wives/girlfriends or other female relative/friends that can give me a female perspective on the matter. Cheers Brendan -

So the OS-Giken twin with sprung centre would be preferred over the HKS twin with solid centre? Pretty sure the one I'm looking at is sprung centre. -
Steve What's the take-up like on the twins, if you had to put a distance to it between initial friction and fully clamped, what would it be - say about 10mm or more. My RG clutch would be about 10mm of friction before being fully clamped. Cheers Brendan

Single-plate VS Twin-plate on R32 GT-R (everydayer)

You're not making my case to go to the Twin-plate clutch very easy are you. Really want the lightened flywheel as some of you know it's a nice item to have to exploit what horsepower you have and it's response. Appreciate the comments though. -
Single-plate VS Twin-plate on R32 GT-R (everydayer)
VSPEC32 replied to VSPEC32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well, I suppose I should have been clear about the main problem - being the shortened take up. 'cause the GT-R has a power assisted clutch, the weight of the pedal isn't really the problem, it's more the take-up. Any comments? -
Hehehe, I do want to go a twin, cause the 'R made 302rwhp on only 0.75bar before the engine went in for a rebuild. Now that I've got the injectors and z32 afm's, there's not much else holding me back. So GTSTVSPEC, wanna give me a short drive with the twin - or anyone else with a twin-plate for that matter? Cheers Brendan
-
Hehehe, I'm sure. Well, if you're out and about on Saturday sometime, that would be ideal. Give me a call in the morning - say about 8.30am and we'll see when we can hook up. Now, who's got a twin-plate (an OS-Giken would be even better). Cheers Brendan

Hey guys Have just posted up a thread in General Auto regarding single plate vs twin plate clutches: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&threadid=14950 It would be great if anyone with a twin-plate in an R32 GT-R would be able to offer me a quick test drive to see what it's like - just up and down the street sort of stuff cause I'm looking for slow traffic driveability as opposed to drag launching : ) Gav, wouldn't mind testing out your clutch too, maybe the wife can do a quick test. Can do at the same time you pick up my ECU. Cheers Brendan

Hi all Am having a hard time coming up with a decision on the clutch for my 'R. Now, things to know are that this car is mainly driven by my wife, and as such the clutch needs to be fairly easy to use. She's currently driving my Silvia, which has a rather bitey RG clutch in it - which she finds a little hard to live with on a daily basis. She's had it for 5 weeks now and still has problems getting off the line. Now my dilemma is that I'd like to get an uprated clutch for the 'R while the engine's being done, that's the easy part. Hard part is deciding whether or not a twin-plate is going to be too over-the-top for my missus to drive in everyday. Have got a good price on an OS Giken Twin-plate which comes with a lightened fly-wheel. To get this would be cheaper than having the standard one rebuilt and getting the additional chro-mo flywheel. Now has anyone had much experience with what I'm going through. Myself, I would go for the twin, but I need to be aware of the WAF (wife acceptance factor). I've been advised that I can get the twin-plate slightly civilised by adapting it with a sprung centre - anyone done this? Cheers Brendan
