well i think the water spray onto the intercooler is a good thing. But am 100% against water injection, true it will let you run higher boost with out pinging but it doesnt make any power its self where as methonal would. even a methonal water mix is better. and iv always sprayed after the turbo b4 the tb.

Anybody had to fix synchros in gearbox?
surfiemullet replied to KRiMiNaL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
before u decide to pull down the box drain the oil and get some new oil. This worked on a mates pajero, they put in some fancy oil at some stuped high price and he got another 2 years before something else broke. also a full bearing and syncro kit will cost heaps. -
Painting intercooler black
surfiemullet replied to Skyrine-Dave's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Painting it in a light coat of matt black would give best results. I painted the back of my front mount in matt black, just couldnt do the polished front lol The shine was too nice -
i work as a mechanic at a holden dealership and get to drive cars like yours which i would give a bit of credit if you wernt so up your self. i drive a commodore and a turbo civic and would choose a GTR over your car anyday but not cause i dont like your car but because a GTR would make your car handle like a barina. And whats your user name on street commodores forum?

White smoke after RB26 rebuild
surfiemullet replied to yamaha227's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
drive to the top of a large hill and start driving down after getting some speed and take your foot of the accelerator and go down the hill till your high in the rev range with no accelerator pedal. get someone to watch behind you for smoke then nail the throttle and if you get lots of smoke it will be the valve stem seals. with the throttle closed it makes a huge vacume and the valve steam seals will leak if they are worn/damaged. hope this helps -
something diferent.-spool time hks 2530
surfiemullet replied to surfiemullet's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
lol its no 1960 buick. Its a 99 ecotec v6 -alot beter than the old buick v6s. It has four bolt mains and im building a 3/4 of an inch steel girdle. im not to worred about it being not strong enough as i know of these same engines in the states doing 9s and 10s with similar bottom end as mine. I just think it will be to laggy as the 2.6L GTR is alot more (ve) efficent than the old pushrod 3.8. so what do you think about spool time considering (ve??)? yes its going to be a drag car not daily driver. -
hey fellas im doing somthing a bit different. I am building a twinturbo 3.8litre v6 ecotec commodore motor. i want to run two HKS gt 2530s but am a bit woried they will be two laggy because i will only change at around 6000-6500rpm and hope to run upto 30 psi. my compression will be around 8.0-1. And will have steampipe manifolds and ported and polished heads and a large frontmount. i just want to no wat rpm u think they will reach full boost at. i dont want them to start boosting at 5500 lol thanks guys

have you guys ever thought of getting a 3 inch cat and cutting the ends off so you have two four inch holes. iv heard of fellas doing this. if they have the same core it shold work.

My camry SV21 at dyno-day....
surfiemullet replied to iceman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
haha my mate just turbo'd and intercooled his camry and put a celica motor in it. he hasnt done a dyno yet but it hammers soo hard. -
yep the same diff was used in the vl commodore. a similar one is in the vn-vr except its wider. I am looking at fitting a r31 diff on my vn commodore but i was hoping to pic up an lsd one cheap. Or i could just remove the lsd and gears to keep cost down. Has anyone got an lsd one from the wreckers or any prices? thanks for the replys.
