Ooh, close call for gutter-rash

Yeah, the darker tint looks nice from the outside, I agree. But from the inside, its not necessarily as practical when it is dark. I really didn't want to add yet another visibly illegal mod to my car, Skylines are cop-magnets as it is... I'm trying to keep the appearance of mine as stock as possible, the exhaust looks almost stock (and I can hit the remote to quieten it if need be), the front mount intercooler isn't very obvious - the only thing on mine that is obvious are the staggered wheels (18x9, 18x10). I really do not feel like getting a defect and having to put it over the pits, so I'm not going to risk it all just for some dark tint. I'd rather take chances with things that enhance the performance

Yup, I should mention that I got 'Midnight Express' on mine yesterday. Glad I did, made quite a difference inside and visibility still seems good. Oh and BTW the Midnight Express tint matches the original Japanese tint in tone nicely.

What you say is true, but those who were ripped off shouldnt give up. Sometimes people in a position to help (but are not supposed to) DO actually help. You just never know, you may strike a cooperative bank employee or whatever. Pool your info together guys... I've seen people succeed before when things looked grim. Good luck to those affected.

I do, but the nice people at Sensis (aka White Pages) took them to court to stop making DTMS... so the last one was current in mid-2004. People move around a lot, so the chances that details will still be current are slim in my experience. Oh, and the guy who caused it to be 'floating around' a few years ago - he's a really great guy I hear

If you havent contacted the bank already, it won't hurt to see what they have to say... they may or may not be of help. It appears that account is held at: Westpac 94-96 Cronulla St Cronulla 2230 NSW Incidentally, I do hope you get to catch up with him before that bus does... give him your best steel-capped boot in the balls for me while yer at it, will ya? Thanks

Done deal Quite a bit lighter but it's as dark as the law allows. Not a great phone piccy but gives you an idea of the new tint: Off to the detailers on Monday to get some swirls taken out of the paintwork, plus a general buff & tidy up of minor scratches. I saw a red 2000 model Commode there that had the same treatment, and the paintwork looked brand new.

Rear Seems To Hop On Hard Cornering
Wayne_J replied to nuffsaid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My car will also do this under specific conditions. I have one particular corner near home - the street is very steep and the corner is at the apex of the hill. Take that corner tight enough & above a certain speed and the inside wheel lifts momentarily. Not a big problem for me, but just thought I'd mention it. I'm running Nismo coilovers and whilst I'm no expert I'm guessing its just a small tradeoff I have to make, as the suspension is otherwise great under most other conditions (Can't say the same for the tyres in the wet though!). Cheers, -
Could be an option? Thats the thing - until you see and hear any given muffler hooked up to the same kind of car as yours, its hard to know what you might find too loud or not loud enough. I've been having evil thoughts about constructing some kind of solenoid activated valve that simply diverts/opens up the pipe before the resonator I'm sure I'm not the first to have thought of that though! Would be nice to have for the times when you really want maximum performance...

G'day Mick, Where did u get this from?: Bought & fitted at Kirrawee Mufflers http://www.kirraweemufflers.com/ How much?: Both Kirrawee & Best Mufflers quote $500 for this specific model. I originally ordered the single pipe oval for $400 - they couldnt get me one straight away so they offered me the dual pipe version for the same price I'm glad I ended up with the dual pipe, looks much more stock. Much quieter than a canon?: Definitely quieter than the cannon I had fitted, or at least has a lot less bass. I also replaced the large resonator I had for a hot-dog type, this would affect it as well of course. The new muffler is still fairly loud when the valve is fully open, I had a mate take it for a drive past me and it did sound very nice indeed. Is it more restrictive than the canon?: Yes, no question at all - I did go from a 3.5" to 3" for starters. Theres no way it could be as free flowing. I'd love to put it on a dyno again (was dyno'd only 3 weeks ago) just to see the numbers. I've done quite a few 0-160 tests since buying the car, and with the new muffler I am honestly hard-pressed to notice any significant difference. I do think that the turbo is spooling up a little higher in the rev range though... I think! Not much in it if it is At least now I feel a lot safer going past the cops, it looks standard and I can turn the bugger down if need be. Cheers

I was originally keen on the APEXi PS Revolution muffler... until I found out the retail price: $1700!

XForce have been saying the 3.5" versions are "coming"... although they've been "coming" for ages now. I'll probably buy one when they eventually release them, and put my current on onto the Suby. 4" is kind of HUGE, isn't it?

mmm... just more of the same 'ol from Ford I reckon. Holden is no better either. At the risk of offending, I find Australian cars lacking in style, or rather they just don't know how to use style with restraint when appropriate. They are rarely (if ever) original either. Another word that comes to mind is 'crude'. Ah well, at least there won't be any more new Magnas/380's to offend the eye in future

Ah dammit... I was in Sydney yesterday and will be back in again tomorrow - but not today. AND I know exactly where that 2A Victoria ave complex is, and I don't know Sydney very well at all. Would've been good to put mine on the dyno again because I changed my exhaust system yesterday. Ah well, have a fun day everyone

OK... I have my Varex fitted. Previously I had an Xforce cannon muffler (and resonator that was freaking me out due to it's close proximity to the ground), now fitted with a hot dog style resonator. My first impressions are that overall, the Varex is quieter than my old cannon, even when wide open... but I've lost that horrible drone which was driving me nuts (yay). I also went for the oval version with twin tips - this normally retails around $500 but I got it for $400 (long story Performance affected? Well, hard to tell after just the trip home from the exhaust shop... although I did do a semi-serious acceleration test from a standing start through to about 140km/h on a (mostly) lonely bit of highway - and it felt mostly the same as before. Might be a slight loss... hard to tell for sure until I get out there and try it again when it's all quiet. I suspect the turbo is spooling up a little higher in the rev range but again I'm not 100% sure yet. One thing is for sure - it looks practically the same as the factory muffler and shouldnt get the cops all excited like the cannon did. When set to quiet - it is damned quiet all right! In fact, all I can really hear is induction roar. We spliced the wiring into the rear wiper power feed, so no need to run it to the bloody ciggie lighter... Anyway, here is a quickie video I did which might help give you all a better idea of what it looks and sounds like. the first bit shows the old Xforce cannon muffler: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=autQyxmR8N4 I might do a better video later on, as this video doesnt show the valve operating, or really show off the new muffler from all angles. I like... fairly low-key but still quite visible. Does it have an audible beep as well? I'm really looking for something that will beep/alarm at the redline. Cheers,

Arrgh, if only these were FS a few weeks ago, in Wollongong no less ! Oh well, good luck with the sale!
