Thanks guys, most appreciated. I have back problems, so you saved me from digging around in awkward positions looking for the thing Right now I'm mid-way through fitting a splitfire coil pack (coffee break time!) and that's bad enough as it is! Cheers

OK I give up and have to ask... Been searching Google etc and cannot find any specific info on where the stock ECU is located in an R34 GTT? Thanks in advance

Any pics of front bar possible? Cheers

Apexi Power Fc On A (near Stock) R34 Gtt: Worth It?
Wayne_J replied to Wayne_J's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Even though I kinda knew a PFC would be beneficial in the long term, I wanted to be sure it was the right thing to do at this stage - I don't need to tell you guys how easily it is to go through $ in no time at all... :\ I have owned my GTT less than 2 weeks, and already have bought: New wheels/tyres Alpine stereo Alarm/immobiliser Turbo back exhaust Navman Nismo cluster Splitfire coil pack So yeah... I'm watching my bank balance go down pretty quickly! I have a PFC lined up and should have it next week - after that, not sure what will come next - possibly a FMIC & new turbo? I might try to call it a day at that point (yeah, right!). Car came with Nismo coil overs and Blitz air filter... Cheers. -
True, it's not as though you'd have much time to check the gauges at that speed anyway... unless you were on an autobahn in Germany perhaps.
-
Fair enough I'll be picking a PFC up early next week, so I guess I will have to wait until then... Cheers

Nice Have you installed them yet? If not, I found the trick to getting these clusters in and out smoothly is down and towards the centre console, as in this pic: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/up...2320_256371.jpg Or, you could take the steering wheel off... meh. Hmm... now I just have to find a quiet place to see if I can get the new speedo to 300KMH

Good deal for sure - was that shipping included? My cluster arrived this morning (through Performance Wise) and I paid $600 all up. Only took about 3 days to arrive from Japan. Not sure I want to go with the Nismo centre cluster or some other aftermarket brand yet... Cheers

Code Based Key Cutting Service
Wayne_J replied to funkymonkey's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm another with only one key... which makes me nervous to say the least. I stopped in at a 'proper' locksmith yesterday (large storefront etc.) in Wollongong, who claimed he definitely couldnt make a copy, and suggested I went to a Nissan dealer (which sounds like an excellent way to get raped in the wallet)... Where would I find this code on the key? Its for 2000 model R34 GTT. I'd really like 2 more spare keys, I don't give a rat's whether they're Nismo keys or whatever - just as long as they work - and as cheaply as possible of course Anyway, if anyone can point me in the right direction, recommend the best way to get some spares at the right price? As I said, I only have the one key so if they can be cut from just knowing the code, that'd be great... only thing is I need to find out that code of course. I'm located in the Illawarra BTW. Cheers -
Any reason why not an R34GTT? Unless your absolute limit is 20K, then fair enough... but just over a week ago I paid $22500 for a 2000 model R34GTT, just imported, in excellent nick, basically stock aside from intake and Nismo coilovers. So for just a little bit more money... I too was considering an R32 GTR - but the R34 was in many ways the nicer machine, with a lot less age related problems, etc.
-
Can't help you - except to say this is a question I'm also interested in as I am seriously considering buying a Power FC myself... I like the idea of having one less gadget cluttering the dash.
-
This is a very good point... I also have a Subie (not an STI though) and it's a totally different proposition to my R34. For this reason alone, you really, really want to drive both cars to appreciate how different the power delivery of the engines are. Subies: lotsa revs = power Skylines: lotsa torque across the rev range = power everywhere
-
If I understand you correctly - you're asking for opinions on an STI vs. GTR? Firstly, I'd assume that any insurance company would have much the same issues with an STI as they do with a GTR. Secondly, if I had to choose - I'd still choose a GTR over an STI any day... but then I guess it boils down on where and how you plan to drive it... I would imagine narrow/windy/twisty roads would favour the STI, for example. If you're simply asking which one is quicker in a straight line... from memory they are fairly evenly matched - on paper at least anyway.

Gday Everyone, Basically the subject heading says it all... I have a 2000 model R34 GTT, manual box - only engine related mods being aftermarket intake/filter and a Xforce turbo back system. Considering the cost of the Power FCs for R34s - before I lash out and buy one - I figured it might be an idea to ask what sort of performance improvments I am likely to see... How much of an increase in power & torque should I expect, and will it be across the full rev range? Any other benefits? Any downsides?? Or should I sink the dough into other mods, for example a Splitfire coil pack?? Any and all constructive comments appreciated, thanks in advance

G'day. I hope you don't mind me asking some (possibly stupid?) questions in your thread ... I recently bought an R34 and doing a crash course in performance upgrades for it. Can this Power FC be hooked up to a basically stock R34, and if so, what can I then do with it? Do I need a suitable new ECU to go with it? Cheers,
