  1. Great stuff guys & thanks so much Thats a good list of shops across Tassie. I'll have to take the 34 down to Hobart for a run (I still havent been to Hobart since I moved here a few weeks ago). Gotta do an oil change first though, as its overdue by about 1000km. Meantime I have my hands full as I just bought an old 75 series Landcruiser ute, which is a lot more practical for daily stuff here and I don't have to worry about the paintwork Its in pretty good nick for its age/price but has a few things I'd like to improve, particularly the suspension and brakes (which are woeful but typical Landcruiser brakes of that era!). Cheers
  2. Great stuff, thanks guys for the info. Does anyone sell FRAM oil filters to suit the RB25 down here by any chance, or any other decent brand filters? Actually Ditto for Motul oil as well. Just out of sheer curiosity, how many dynos are there in Hobart?? Thanks very much for the advice!
  3. Not that my current engine needs one yet (touch wood!)... but having recently moved to Tassie I'm not clued into all the good shops down here. Since I live out in woop-woop I don't much care if they are in Hobart or Launceston - my main concern is to find knowledgeable mechanics with good RB engine experience who take pride in their work. I'm actually considering getting an RB30/25 hybrid type engine built and dropped into my 34 - has anyone here have experience with these - or would I be better off getting it built on the mainland and installed here? Also keen to hear about good tuners experienced with Power FCs. Oh yeah - and also suggestions for performance parts, oil filters etc for the RB. Where are the best places for these? I had a look on the forum but havent come across anything on the above, so maybe this thread could be useful to others as well. Looking forward to any good recommendations, thanks.
  4. One of those would be perfect, but almost certainly a defect notice waiting to happen? (I'd love to be wrong on that though...)
  5. Nice... clean and not overdone. Just right
  6. mmm... maybe. I think it looks fine as is and doesnt really need to be any lower. Also depends how much you like to scrape over speed bumps and driveways as well
  7. It used to mean 'F*ck the World', and they stopped allowing rego plates using it
  8. Just an update - I arrived a bit earlier than planned. Basically as soon as the removalists did their thing on the 15th, I thought bugger it - I'm heading south right now... So I booked onto the Spirit of Tasmania, arrived in Port Melbourne on the 16th and arrived in St Helens on the morning of the 17th - exactly the same time as the Targa hit the town as well I was lucky to get in just before the roads were closed... So if you see a black R34 with NSW plates...it's me, say hello if you can. I already ordered the new personalised Tassie plates last week, hehe Glad to see the 98RON is plentiful down here. Catchyas!
  9. Those white TE37's go so well with the Bayside Blue
  10. Nope. I sure did try to get one though. They have no plans to do another batch either, so this is something I might look into doing once I'm resettled in my new place. They won't be cheap to produce though.
  11. Nice. Do you have a side view, to show off the wheels more?
  12. Like them wheels, suit the 32... what brand and model are they?
  13. Like the number plate! Is that real or photchopped? Strewth!
  14. Thanks for the info mate, St Helens sounds pretty good to me I havent been to Tassie for a few years so my memory of St Helens is a little rusty, other than to say I know that whole area is nice. Well it is 99.9% confirmed we have approval from the owners of the property that we can rent it for a few months, which is a relief... one less thing to have to do! I'm surprised the BP is 24 hours, which is handy. Sounds like no problems with the cops, which is good (unless you're a bogan I guess Not chasing work at this stage, to cut a long story short... and when I will be I'll be self employed anyway, so no problem there. Thanks again for the info mate, might have to go for a cruise one day? Cheers
  15. Hmm, now that is more than a little suspicious If it keeps happening to you I wouldnt mind knowing (by PM perhaps) what servo(s) I should avoid... No way should you car run worse on a higher octane fuel???
  16. Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like I have nothing to worry about fuel-wise And yeah, supply has been patchy up here too. Shell hasnt had any all year, BP has been patchy and I've recently been using Caltex Vortex 98 quite a bit, my car seems to like it as much as the BP Ulitmate. I'll have to start reading the Tassie section more often to suss out what the boys in blue are like in terms of defecting, and the regs in general down there. oh and roadworthys for rego when the time comes. I try to keep my 34 low key in terms of any outrageous mods but of course technically speaking its probably not roadworthy... So far just FMIC, turbo booster, panel filter, exhaust (Varex though), staggered wheels. I do plan for a new turbo however, will have to do that later as I ran out of time to get it done up here (CRD has been doing all work on my car so far). I don't drive like a hoon - unless the mood takes me (as it does occaisonally) and I am somewhere quiet/remote Also will need to change plates (obviously) and am trying to find a good custom plate that hasnt been taken already... I noticed the buggers have upped the prices very recently too - over a grand for a letter only plate :\ Anyway, enough rambling... Look forward to meeting you all in the near future Cheers
  17. Hi Trent, Good to see Ignition is wrong I'm probably moving to St Helens initially (pending approval from owner who better hurry the f*ck up with an answer), just to rent but I'm actually looking to buy property somewhere. I havent decided where to buy just yet except to say somewhere semi-rural, it won't be in the Hobart or Launceston metro areas. Will be glad once this move is over...
  18. Did you just delete some pix? I was gonna reply to one then couldnt find it lol. Just wanted to say that light blue Autostyle GTR you posted is one of my all time favourite R34s... it is just about perfect in every way (unless you're a purist I guess). It was featured on an Ignition DVD... just totally yum.
  19. These aint the same - and IMO would better suit a R33 - but in case you havent seen them: available on this forum: http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66673 I was really after a badge like the one shown in my sig - these were available in another U.K forum but I just missed out and they have no plans to order more... I am considering looking into getting some made (possibly a bit better if possible) a few months down the track. They won't be cheap though (the ones in my sig worked out to approx. $45 each). At the moment I am in the middle of moving interstate so its not quite on the top of my priorities right now though.
  20. Oh man that looks good... Also, I was actually looking for a 4 door myself but it proved impossible to find one with all the specs I was looking for (manual, black, all gauges etc), so when the right 2 door appeared I compromised
  21. Gday All, I'm moving to Tassie within a couple of weeks. Last night I was watching an Ignition DVD and they made the comment that there is no 98RON fuel in Tassie?!? Is this true or not? I just checked BP's site and it says there is BP Ultimate down there, but I'd like comfirmation from some locals. Also I'm having some more work done on my R34 and a dyno tune just before I leave, so in the event that I'm going to have permanant problems getting 98 down there I'd rather tune the car with a tank of 95 instead, for obvious reasons. So, whats the go down there? Naturally I'm hoping that the big 3 fuel companies do supply the good stuff down there! Cheers
  22. Was an unmarked white Dunnydoor (I think) after we left either the Eastern Creek truck stop or the next Caltex stop... 2 cars got done before they even made the truck stop (which I didnt not actually see). Later that white dunnydoor came charging through us with headlights flashing, and pulled over the maroon R33 (Joey was the name I think???) all because he didnt have a P plate on the front of his car (or something like that anyway).
  23. Please post it Maybe youtube?? Cheers
  24. Sounds like it was, there was definitely a 300zx there, one blue and one silver S15, one WRX and a BMW as well
  25. Certainly is. I was alluding to the 'slow' sign in the background
