"Must have at least a Cams level 2 Speed Licence"... that sounds bad (for me). Sorry for the question - but how does one get a level 2 licence, particularly by the 31st? I don't think I'll like the answer... I'd really like to do Oran park before I move interstate in mid-April.

R34 Gtt Traction Control Tweaking/mods?

Thanks Nuff, found the thread - a couple of years old but I PM'd Dan to see if he's still making these circuits, they sound like just the thing. Ta -

Yep, the Prelude system was quite different. I had an '88 Lude and at first, I had to be extra careful when reversing because it behaves rather differently. But you soon adapt to it To this day, I havent been in a car that cornered like that thing did (aftermarket suspension natch) - just amazing - despite the front wheel drive. And you sat so low to the ground, which no doubt partly explains the cornering ability. -
R34 Gtt Traction Control Tweaking/mods?
Wayne_J posted a topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Righto. I have a 2000 model R34 GTT, have owned it for almost 2 months. I havent driven another R34 so have nothing to compare to - but I find my traction control to be over-sensitive, as in it kicks in WAY too soon before there can possibly be any wheel-spin happening. I'm talking about on dry roads (never mind wet roads)... say a mildly spirited lauch from a set of lights, or similar acceleration from 60 - 80KMH, it kicks in and you can hear/feel the engine being held back. It's so bad that normally I turn off the traction control every time I start the car (if I remember!). it can be highly annoying when you forget to turn it off... Wheels/are 18x8 & 18x9.5, 'el cheapo brand tyres (brand escapes me right now) 225 front 255's rear. The logic behind buying cheap tyres was that I figured I should start with a cheap set of tyres, until the novelty of owning a Skyline settled down! But damn, they are attrocious in the wet... but I digress The next set of tyres will be good quality, that is my normal choice (such as Kumho Ectas for example). As far as I know the diff etc is all stock. So, does this sound like fairly typical GTT behaviour, or might I have some mechanical problem? A consequence of tyres and/or differing tyre sizes? I was also wondering whether the traction control can be adjusted in some way, made a lot less senstive? That would seem to me to be the best solution. Failing that, maybe have it turned off by default, instead of on. Because ideally I'd rather still have the system functioning rather than disabling it completely. Or is the only 'solution' to disable it? Thoughts or experiences people? Thanks -
(Damned 'flood control' mumble...) Hey Marko, The rear windows were already tinted in Japan so I really don't know the exact % (though I have seen 20% mentioned a lot), I could guess but I doubt it'd be very accurate. It's pretty darn dark though. I'm used to it now for the most part, not a problem during the day but at night I would have to be honest and say it does restrict your vision sometimes. The front doors have been done in 35% 'Midnight Express' tint http://www.tintacar.com.au/autofilm_midnight.shtml. In the end I just went for the darkest legal tint (35%) and they claim that Midnight Express looks the darkest of the legal tints.

Thanks Grant. Initially I was intent on getting either all black wheels, or black centres/polished alloy rims. But when I saw these with the 'shadow chrome' centres, I changed my mind - for the time being anyway The S2 front bar is okay I guess - I do prefer the indicators and grille over the S1 at least. I will probably change the front bar at some point, not many aftermarket ones I like to be honest. I do like the East Bear range though. But, in the 6 or 7 weeks I've owned the car I've spent a crapload on mods already, and am a little tired of working on it or dropping it off somewhere to get work done. Plus I'm moving interstate in a month, so time to stop spending money & time... It's time to just get out there and enjoy the driving car as it is! For a while anyway

Thanks mate - that's all I needed was a reference point such as Reservoir Rd - I can just let the Navman do all the work now

Here's a better pic showing the tinted doors... Also took the car to the detailers a week ago - had the paint swirls removed, and a general buff all over, removing minor scratches around the door handles, etc. Man, it made a huge difference to the look of the car, a bargain for $200. The photo really doesnt do justice to the difference. Now I just have to maintain the washing and polishing the way I was told to... the detailer guy was really full-on and passionate about the subject

I would assume it is still technically illegal, yes. The way I see it though, no need to exacerbate the situation... and you may have a much more lenient cop if they realise the tint you added was legal Now that some time has gone by, I don't regret going for the legal tint - it looks fine IMO and it is a lot more comfotable in the car (less glare).

From the album: My Black GTT...
Just a better pic showing the doors tinted. Also had the paintwork swirls removed, buffed (removed minor scratches) a week ago - it has made a huge difference and was worth every cent -
"MEETING (2): Caltex Truck Stop, Eastern Creek, On the M4 (westbound) - next door to the maccas." By the way - Would anyone have any GPS coordinates for the above location by any slim, miraculous, incredible chance? Or - I'll be coming from Kiama & I don't know Sydney well at all so any alternatives/suggestions welcome

Hah, no worries PLYNX. I'm actually closer to 45 than 40 anyway... actually, real close! At least in chronological years... in the mind, another story I guess

I was considering one of these, but can't get my hands on one now anyway (very few made)... I think it could still be done better anyway:

Hi Alexey, car looks great in Bayside Blue, even the eyelids look better than normal for some reason Also like the number place placement - I wonder if we could get away with that here in Oz?
-
None whatsoever down this way - the nearest is in Sydney or Canberra I'm afraid: http://www.shell.com/home/page/au-en/shell...fuelfinder.html

Ah, East Bear strikes again... all the bumpers I like seem to be from them. Naturally they are bloody expensive... Thanks for the info!
-
Nice. So thats a 3" system yeah? Looks like they don't make 'em for 3.5"?
-
Agree with everyone about the bar and bonnet, very nice indeed. Can anyone positively ID that bumper? I'm having a LOT of trouble finding a bumper that I like 100% and is available somewhere in Oz... Too bad I have no fiberglassing skills so I could make/mod my own 'ideal' bumper

No worries Chris & thanks for the advice. Whilst I want to push the car fairly hard I'm certainly not going to go beyond my comfort zone... I'm terrified of damaging the car - I've spent too many $$$ and countless days in the past six weeks improving it only to go put it into a wall I really want to see what the handling limitations are on my '34, so what better opportunity than this? Yeah, wouldve been good to see you on the day mate... I'm certainly going to do my best to be at this one as it'll probably be my one and only chance at Oran. Cheers
