  2. Well the HKS cams Kris is running are similar to the Apexi cams I tried and its quite possible the cams he is running hurt response. But yes, granted the rest of the points are valid re manifold etc which on the bigger RBs may not make a difference but on the lil RB20 it seems a nice exhaust manifold can help that little bit with power and response. Kris runs my old Greddy manifold which whilst there are a few variables in my changing to a 6boost....the Greddy was every bit the equal of the 6boost and possible superior in outright performance. If you have a HKS manifold then its time to Kando TD06-20G up If my memory serves me correctly Kris went from a 2535 to TD06-20G and was happy with the overall change.
  3. Thank GOD! http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2012/05/lotus-boss-dany-bahar-suspended/ Hopefully Lotus Cars can start moving in the right direction
  4. I will never do it but I have worked out the pulley sizes I would need for the PS etc etc if i tried to spin the RB24 to 10,000rpm. With the solid followers, titanium retainers and Tomei springs then you would think if it was bolted together right then you would be able to spin it to 10k. The little 82mm pistons weight far less then an RB26 piston. The valves are smaller and lighter...problem is my patience and curiosity with trying all this stuff is getting a bit thin and as much as I want to do it I think I need to flog off all my gear and stick with std motors. If they pop then who cares...$600 and soeme spare dosh for some tidy up love and I can be back to having fun with next to no outlay
  5. With a general bad attitude after getting my car back i took to it with a 9,600rpm rev limit at a motorkhana day and took my frustration out on it. Like all good women she understood my frustration and put up with the abuse I gave her....only to awaken the next morning and regret and decide time to spend some more money on her to show much i "appreciate her " Teh below pics is from drifting a bend and section of straight blazing 3rd gear on the 9,600rpm limiter before braking to stop in the finishing gate. The site of smoke behind me was hilarious... it seems a std motor can take almost anything you can sensibly throw at it.
  6. Who the f**k knows. Only gave it a quick fiddle this afternoon before getting the bigger injectors etc in there tomorrow and initial results were not encouraging with regards to the amount of boost and ignition meaning negligible change in power etc. So like everything with my car may need to be dragged kicking and screaming
  7. What he said! Thats what I am going to do. Going to flog off my 6boost and go back to a Greddy style 6-2-1 manifold. Since yours is a twin scroll T4 manifold may not be such an issue but I have it in my head at present that the Greddy style 6-2-1 single scroll manifolds work better than 6boost style 6-1 designs
  8. What caused it? Ahhh, an accident. It happens...lol always seems to be to my car. Oh well. So to continue the theme of no matter what I do to my car it either results in damage of loss of power...it seems my car's owner like corn more than the RB20
  9. I cant make any sense from my results vs others either Hell I run E85 and don't make any more power so on my car there is obviously something stopping me from making more then 275rwkws. I love how the 20G makes more power at 4,000rpm then the 2535, and way more torque when you consider that whilst they seem pretty even the diff ratio is lower in the 20G setup. I did the 260/8.8 cams years ago and they sucked. About Feb last year I did the inlet plenum and whilst it really stops the diving over at 7,000rpm it does make the mid through 4,000-5,000rpm a little doughier. It is possible that what I am about to try tomorrow may liven up the Plazmaman install as there is something in my setup that is a point of debate and will test the theory tomorrow. So trying not to get my hopes up but thinking there may be life in the Plazmaman setup yet...which may also see a better result with E85 My 2c is if the head is off then give it a tidy up of casting and match port the thing. Give the head a shave and try to get a budget RB25esque 9.0:1 compression ratio out of the thing. If the engine is all together then don't touch a thing. Run the std inlet with a Greddy or OBX exhaust manifold and std cams. You will make 260 off rwkws on 98 with a good safe track tune with pretty good pull and grunt from 4,500rpm. Anything more then that and you just move sideways and end up poorer for the experience Now I am off to sook and think about why I am the only person on SAU who cant make an easy 25-35rwkws on E85 I think my 6boost and Turbosmart are coming off and think its time to just bite the bullet and man up and go back to my old setup described above
  10. So can someone give me a quick summary of who is running a 20G with E85 and what boost and power did you end up with?
  11. How fitting is it that Kimi has a James Hunt tribute helmet this week. Far cooler then the diamond necklace helmet Seb VeTool is sporting Worrying is that RBR are nowhere with regards to pace. Lotus look good so hope Webz, Romain or Kimi can get the job done and Disco Dan get a strong finish...the trend is worrying that Vergne out races him every weekend
  12. But the good bit about it is now there appears to be some slow to mid sections where you have to stop cars with some attitude on them and changes of direction. I think it works. BUT, agree, Corporate Hill was the best corner on the track where you would hammer through in a slide using all the exit...never quite made that sand trap though came close a few times. Shame they took away the kink in the braking area before the new section as well as that was another quite technical part of the track ...woudl have been great if they extended the track without messing with corporate hill...but oh well
  13. Beauty of Monaco....practice tonight!
  14. Used HKS 2530, Nistune with Z32 and some GTR injectors and fuel pump. Should be able to get the required parts for less then 3k and from there either install bits yourself or pay someone to install and tune
  15. ...I did read that the Hybrid coolers flow real well with very little pressure drop even at some big numbers. But when you look at the inlet temp at the manifold its higher then you would like to see. Whats the general rule of thumb on inlet temps again? Its something like 10deg C is 1% of hp ?!?!?!? What is peoples experience of intercoolers and inlet temps? I have alway observed an inlet temp within 20deg of what my AC says is ambient temp. No idea if thats good or not...i know I have a HKS air filter and no cold air shroud around it
  16. ...and shall be showered with empty cans as they drive by
  17. For the same turbo yes. But when people are running different turbos etc then the thermodynamics of each compressor vary greatly and I think its an assumption to thing that say a GT35R running 20psi will heat the inlet air more then -5s at 17psi
  18. Single Trust goodness! Bugger off with weak ass Garret fluff. Honeywell should stick with making computers and leave turbos to Mitsubishi
  19. So because this thread is full of sooks who want NA response and big block Chev amounts of torque rather then old school kick in the ass when the big single hits....I am curious to know of those making 400rwkws, what power are you making at 4,000rpm and 5,000rpm.
  20. Was hoping to do Zandvoort in early August but have some other things coming up which means I can't be os until later that month. Zolder and Spa appear to be a good track for street cars with some grunt. I see the car still has plates. How is Holland for registration of modified cars. The cost to register cars in Belgium is rather scary.
  21. Like he cares about this thread. Despite 180 pages of thread I think there are less than 8 setups/results that have been posted. More appropriate is to jump on ebay and give him a serve with customer feedback
  22. What has boost pressure got to do with it? Its about the volume or air/airflow through the cooler and its ability to cool it with as low a pressure drop as possible. Coolers work efficiently when they have turbulent flow through them as all those excited air particles bounce off the wall of the intercooler and allow them to transfer heat. So by nature anything that cools will have a pressure drop across it. Otherwise a straight bit of pipe would offer less pressure drop , but of course nowhere near the cooling. So I suppose you can make the assumption that a turbo at 18psi may have cooler outlet temps then something spinning 22psi. But hp is hp and requires a certain amount of cfm to achieve. So whether its a 4L at 6,000rpm or a 2.6L at 8,500rpm...an intercooler doesnt care or know the difference. It just has to pass air and cool it
  23. Send it off locally for a new turbine and balancing. Still works out to be a cheap turbo
  24. Hey, thats Zandvoort. I will get my R32 over there one year to do a few European circuits. I imagine Zandvoort would be a touch circuit for a big, powerful Skyline! What sort of times are you doing around there? Any plans to do any upcoming events?
  25. So is it a crack or just a casting imperfection? Pretty disappoininting. Maybe I should pull apart my 18G and have a close look at it
