Hopefully enough of a difference to justify all the suspension changes that are taking place at the moment. As soon as I pick the car up the turbo saga begins.

I am excited. Just got an email that there is some billet goodness back in my office waiting for me. Supppose I have to come back to Melb this weekend now I can already feel all that extra power in my bones. Fark the 18G for present, check the 20G tune and go straight to the 73HTA and see what the deficiencies are in the current tune. Hopefully give me a good idea of differences in characteristics.

I was liking the guy towards the end of 2010. I thought he had come into his own. By mid 2011 I wanted to punch the tv when he came on. Have to hand it to the guy that he invokes reactions

Most exhaust shops dont purge weld stainless because they more often then not MIG. Half the time you look inside and there is pterodactyl shit all over the ID. The other half there is nothing as there isnt full penetration with the weld. I suppose its all post turbine so not often viewed as being worth the expense of using the gas and having the extra regulators/hoses/bungs set up. Elite, If exhaust places are making dumps out of 304 then good to know. It seems to be the guys that are more into the competition car prep/race fabrication that go for the 321. So probably overkill for road cars. Though if a burner and its coil bundle use 321, LOL I know my dump will outlast the rest of the car

Oh man...this is all from memory...so happy to be corrected. 321 is on paper better then 304 at elevated temperatures due to the inclusion of titanium in it and improves its mechanical properties at high temps. You can get high carbon variants of 304, which are termed 304H. Not 304, and certainly not 304L which is a low carbon version as like 316L they have reduced strength at high temperature so not used for structural/pressure applications at elevated temperatures. We never use 304 in heat exchangers etc. Quite often we use 321 or other high carbon or stabilised austenitic stainless steels. In an exhaust you dont care about the corrosion properties of ss, rather things like the creep strength, thermal expansion and structural stability/embrittlement which is where the 321 is better. Though they are all about the same with regards to withstanding general corrosion at higher temps in only air. Years ago I was my old employers boffin on stainless and material selection. That was 12 years ago and now moved more into management so have forgotten the ins and out of the metallurgy of how the grain structures change/react to temps etc. But at the end of the day if people are using 1.2mm thick welded 304 tube in their dumps and lasting then who gives a shit what texts say. The proof is in the pudding. The lads where i used to work all used 321 for their crazy race boat headers and manifolds etc. The downstream exhaust was often 304, but the manifolds 321. I think you will generally find thats common practice in the old school world of header design and racing. Overkill? I dunno ps...it was either Prochem or Atlas that had pretty good tech data which may be of interest to anyone that cares

LOL, there are more important things in this world to know then grades of stainless My industry uses a lot of it so know a little, I am more interested in what lesser grades of stainless people use and get away with. I used 321 but not sure its worth the expense?
-
When talking SS prices, be sure to be comparing like for like. There is 304 vs 316 (L grades of each) plus all the other grades of 300 stainless, that are often more suitable for exhausts. You then have various standards for tubing. Your 304 is typically welded tube fit for arhitectural hand rails etc (A554 etc). Some use it no problem in exhaust. Other standards are for pressure piping (A369/270 etc) , heat exchanger tube etc and are far more expensive. Then on top you have wall thickness....so may not be a case of one place cheaper then others...usually just different. Anyone use Carringtons in western Sydney? They used to be cheaper then Midway, Atlas, Austeel, Sandvik, Prochem, Geordi etc etc Nice work on the dumps...have to be happy with that

Its from the Battle of the Supercar series. I have seen a couple of episodes but not that one. Episode 1: Turbo 6 Challenge. They normally tell you if they are modded, like in the Hennessey Viper vs GT etc episodes. That Porsche looks like it has a Techart front spoiler so perhaps they are hotted up.

Mates? Well he wont have many distractions for the coming season. Nobody on the grid likes him. His Mrs dumped him. He walked away from this Dad. Dennis isnt around as much to protect/support him. Whitmarsh seems more open to the two drivers and has never used words like "petulant" to describe Button...but has used such language for Hamilton. His support network on race weekends seems non-existant. Hoping his 2012 season is a cluster fark and his candle blows out and McLaren dont meet his pay demands at end of year. He will be remembered as a great talent, who was lucky to win a WDC whose most mature performance as an F1 driver was his first season. After that hsi head seems to spend half the time off in the clouds, and the other half up his ass.

Just make me a mod of that thread only. It has been so long since it has been updated and we would know who our quickest cars were if allowed to keep it updated...which in turns makes sure people post up times and pay notice

Sau Forum Battle - Come One, Come All!
Roy replied to R31Nismoid's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Sux to be Ash trying to pick the quickest combo. And by "we" I think Ash means the people talking to organisers about the event. Christian about dollars to help support SAU representatives. And trying to on behalf of SAU get the best cars we have there. If there is a sharper tool in the shed lets hear about it. PS...LOL, I have nothing to do with organise SAU cars for the event. I heard recently you dont have to be a forum entrant to enter, so i think I am going to enter the Time Attack and also the Rally Stage as it appears to be all on tarmac. Wont be an SAU Forum entrant. Just need to be sure my car is back from work getting done in Sydney -
Man, your engine bay in MINT! I love it. The dud pipe/cap is where the Greddy kit returns its BOV too. It has since been cut off and welded up. . The other pipe with hose in it is where my catch can plumbs back to on the street. The car once had a shroud over the filter, but it was pretty shit and when it went missing at the mechanics I never missed it or bothered to replace it. That was 2004 There are a two ducts (grey corrugated pipe you can just see in the pic) that duct air to the filter. Its still crap, but meh. When i finally get my radiator setup I will fix all the inlet piping The crossover pipe is gay because I was a tight ass and used leftover tubing from a pharamceutical project I was working on. It didnt have material certificates so couldn't be used...so i grabbed it for the right price: FREE Problem is its 1.6mm thick 316L so far heavier then ideal. But a breeze to weld

I am with Sutil on this one. I would be curious to read the actual verdict. What was the charge? A suspended sentence sounds like a slap on the wrist, and the 200k to charity sounds like a good will gesture. I have read he was charged with aggravated assault, other sources say grievous bodily harm or both. None of those require intent. They are both misdemeanor and not felonies because the intent to commit the crime is lacking, but rather then accidental, the behavior is wreckless hence the more serious charge over assault. Well at least thats what I can remember from High Scool Legal Studies (20 years ago ) so if thats wrong would love to know the facts! Sloppy journalism in this day and age means you don't even get the facts behind the story. I am not 100% sure why the case was even heard in Munich and no charges were laid in China. Did the German Police file charges or is Lux able to file a charge in a German court and it is obliged to be heard if agaisnt a German citizen ? It all smells as though a man with means filing a private law suit over bruised ego...and a few unfortunate scars. The whole Lux attacked by Sutil is BS IMO. Story goes a friend of Lux spilled a drink on Sutil. Lux gets power happy and throws his weight around asking Sutil to leave. Sutil responds by returning the favour and attempting to spill the contents of his glass over Lux...and woops. Things go pear shaped. I can almost guess the friend of Lux was a good sort, who perhaps threw a drink at Sutil? Then Lux , the man in shining armour comes in "you better leave" all with a few people pushing out their chests being hard men in 10k suits! Sutil goes to hurl a drink at him...and yeh...pear shaped. The fact that Lux is running around saying a phone call isnt enough of an apology, but instead wants a face to face apology tells me this it is more about bruised ego rather then a genuine victim of assault. Otherwise he would want nothing of an apology and would be talking convictions. Hamo is a dog as 10 days before the trial he was attending to give evidence on behalf of Sutil. Then 5 days before pulls the pin because of media commitments. Fark me I would know what is more important! Anyway, moving on...
-
Are you kidding? General powder room gossip has had the event as an accident, not a deliberate glassing. Meant to throw a drink over a tosspot whose behaviour was out of line and in the cufunkle copped a glass in the face. No charges were made in China, where the accident occured. It seems a German can be charged with a crime that took place abroad, against a non German in Germany. I am a long way from letting Dog Hamilton off the hook for this one. We will never know, but it appears as though Hamilton abandoned a mate rather then supporting him to protect his own neck from any publicity of involvement. Hamo has hung out with Sutil post the event, and the two have been fine so a bit late/convenient to drop his mate in the shit a few days before the trial saying busy with media committments.

Christ, I was hoping i would be able to squeeze in a std airbox with the high mount. Looking at that pic there is no chance. Bugger pickling. Isnt even buying it a ball ache these days? Just linish the thing and remove any evidence of the weld. If you do the tig weld neat enough you only really need a bit of scothbrite. This is my gay ass old setup and the TB pipe was pretty quick and easy out of some stainless left over from work, a quick rub with some IPA and green scothbrite and you cant pick the welds

Rb20 Box Or Sr20 Box What One Is Stronger
Roy replied to Bsa's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
RB20 and RB25 gearboxes bolt to the backs of RBs. So I would expect you would have the same issues using an RB20 box on an SR as you would an RB25 box on an SR. The SR20 and RB20 internals are very similar though, with the same PPG and OS Giken part numbers anyway. So general health and age would be the determining factor one would think. I would be sticking with the SR20 gearbox behind an SR20. Just be sensible with the sprung centre clutch and use good quality Castrol fluid and would be ok provided the car isnt being clutch kicked like a wet, stray dog -
Fairly comprehensive? Man that guy must think he is going to the moon to need that much scaffolding!

Looks like Homo has been called a dog by Sutil overnight for not appearing for his defence, any well wishes etc. What a farking girl, Sutil was supposed to be his friend in the F1 world!
-
Yeh I ran a 12.9 with only 14psi as any more and my ignition broke down due to the std coil packs I had at the time. That was on RE55s so pretty decent tyres but I am a hack and scared to launch with the std gearbox so was only getting 2.2sec 60ft times. Will go back one day with 20psi and when I have a reasonable set of tyres and I am ready to lunch my 205,000km old std gearbox

I bet that car looks nothing like what they come to Australia with! Also in some pics it looked almost white. I was excited that they may have dropped the silver and gone red and white , but oh well

I have always wanted a set of Manaray wheels. They are rocking horse shit!
