Fas the loom been cut up at any time?
-
So can i pick it up or is it sold?

There has to be more to the story?!?!? What fuel and what capacity and mods does the SR20 have? And whilst it boosts 24psi at 4,200rpm what power is it actually making at 4,200rpm. On a well sorted RB25 with thicker headgasket, Greddy inlet, Tomei cams and complete TD06SH-25G setup... At 8,000 rpm it has 308 rwkw At 7,000 rpm it has 320 rwkw At 6,000 rpm it has 296 rwkw At 5,000 rpm it has 230 rwkw At 4,000 rpm it has 114 rwkw That was on a dyno that read about 20-25rwkws lower then other dynos it went on and was a pretty conservative ignition map on 98 tune. No doubt it could be improved but massive divide between 360rwkws and 400rwkws out of a 25G compressor?!?!?! I have a soft spot for the TD/Mitsu range of turbos. But in cases where people are putting turbos on built motors with external gates etc then what is an extra $1000 on a Garret or other turbo IF it gives you an extra 40rwkws at 4,000rpm and matches the top end? Bang for buck its up there...but personally I would bin my Trustck turbo if I could find a sharper tool in the shed

Nope. Was looking at a red 635 last night. Thinking it would be a good chariot for my Belgium trip in March See, there are benefits to owning a pov spec GTSt instead of keep me broke uber GTR. Your car budget goes further to do other stuff. LOL for the price of an RB26 rebuild I can have another 80s BOS
-
Yeh, I have been looking for a RHD one in UK but they all are LHD and the very rare RHD ones are never '88 or earlier For the price of one nice R34 GTR I am going to have an army of old shitboxes

Meh Fezz. I hope Massa falls over and Webber has a good year and finds a nice home at Ferrari while they blood one of their Jr drivers. Just as RBR start to drop off and Ferrari come strong again in 2013. It would be justice that in the twilight of his career Webz jumps from dominant team to dominant team. And i am with you tweety. I am tossing and turnign about Aus GP. $800 for tickets and you see shit. Better of putting that money towards an OS GP later in the year at a proper circuit where you see the action for 8-15 seconds at a time

Yeh, I was so, so , so tempted to try the 68HTA. It is meant to flow about the same, perhaps a little more and be more responsive. In the end the decider was if I was going to make a change then make a change. The 15% more flow was the decider. I also thought that once I see how these all work, or dont then I can always hot rod the TD05H with the 68HTA compressor Now to see how well the lil RB20 uses the extra flow

Yeh, its only done dyno time so like new. But nobody is going to pay $2200 for it when you get get a "Kando the Great" for $800. If I had an RB30 i dont think i would run any of these turbs. I think you would get a better result out of the GTX3076, more responive and the billet compressors seem to give you a bit more legs at higher pressure ratios. So probably bag you a more responsive 350rwkws.

I suppose after a life time of having a waaay cool job you collect a few things along the way http://www.insideline.com/features/photos/collection-of-a-lifetime-gallery.html Some out takes
-
It's a 10cm housing. Not sure I want to sell it any more. I cant really sell it as who is going to pay over 2k for it when you can get a Kando for ~$800 Actually looking at these pics now the compressor cover tag says TD06H. I thought it said SH? Anyway, its the same turbo from the earlier page side by side with the L2-20G

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
Roy replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Well, just bought another two turbos for my car My old girl has to be the most spoilt RB20 in the land So...now I just need to find a week and about 2k for dyno and spanner time. The quest to find the ideal setup on an RB20. The turbos I have to try with my 6boost manifold and Turbosmart gate are: TD05-18G 8cm TD06-20G 10cm TD06L2-73HTA 8cm TD06L2-73HTA 10cm All to be benchlined against my TD06-20G 8cm. LOL, Racepace is going to hate my car soon enough. Hours of back to back dyno pulls. Engine will probably crap itself on the dyno -
Its the same 3" cover as my 20G, just machined for the larger wheel. The compressor is larger in diameter, but it is lighter so will be interesting to see if there is an increase in lag. Along with dynos will do some in gear testing with the AiM and log rpm vs road speed vs boost. Should paint the full picture of what turbo makes for the faster car Mine is a bit of a custom jobbie getting built up locally with an EVO centre housing so has later model, more durable bearing design and water cooling and the L2 turbine. May be ok, could be a disaster. Then throwing the 73HTA compressor at it. How much? LOL...the real question is why do i have five turbos, valued at ~7k of turbos sitting around doing nothing If it works you will be able to buy one off me on the following proviso..you own an RB20

Yeh, I am, but dont have tickets yet. I hate paying so much money to nto see shit. Even from a stand. Bloody street circuits suck for spectating. But I have to go...so will pony up the dollars sooner or later

But what about rwd? You can only enter two cars, irrespective of layout? -
Its basically a hack job Mistu turbo by Forced Performance. They have a 73mm billet compressor, hence the 73HTA tag. Mine runs an L2 turbine and will throw my 8cm housing on it. Meant to flow 15% more then an 20G wheel for the same response. Will see how close it comes to the claim. Be nice to have T67 power with 20G response

Ok, so...now I just need to find a week and about 2k for dyno and spanner time. The best setup will also get my baby Tomei Poncams installed and tested and then whichever setup looks the best will get a gut full of E85. It will have to go back to 98 but going to lean on it and see what I can get my track times down to with my next purchase of new tyres. Once they are past their best will throw it back to 98 for convenience. I hope the TD06L2-73HTA 8cm lives up to its promise as I want to see how a std RB20 will handle 15min track sessions with that sort of power. I know I should not get my hopes up but am hoping I can get about 260rwkws from the TD05H-18G with E85. Would be nice if I can make +310rwkws with the 73HTA. It is meant to flow 54lb/min, which I suspect may be the start of where it may be worthwile having the baby cams with the plazmaman I have a Trust T67-25G and TD06SH-25G laying around but they are way too much turbo for an RB20 and they are sitting around waiting for my RB24

Hey Ash, how are we going for Street Car class? I am thinking my car with some good streets may do ok since most of our rwd crowd are probably not running factory engine and gearbox. Shame about Time Attack not using the long track...but if you are struggling for competitive entrant for rwd street class then I would be happy to give it a nudge -
I grabbed a Lotus jacket in Hungary last year. Fark RBR! I am pretty pumped that 3 months later they have Romain and Kimi in the seat/s!

Will be interesting to measure up my turbine on my TD06-20G. My Trust compressor cover doesnt have any prefixes after the TD06. So I thought this may have meant it was a TD06S in Mitsu speak. I was trying to equate it to a Kando turbo and his plain TD06 is a bigger wheel and would not fit inside the T67 turbine housing like mine does. I believe my wheel shares the same dimensions as the L2, just has 12 blades or different pitch/back cut etc.
-
I suspected he was. I have never seen a SH-20G. Looking at a L2 vs SH, I would be shocked if it spooled the same. Yep, tend to agree. If you mean SH vs L2 off the T67 then I can tell you the TD06SH-25G makes about 20rwkws more but is a little less responsive. Look at the below pics of the differences in turbines and you can see why. Back in the day a mate had and a circle of people around him all went Trust crazy and that's part of the reason I ended up with a 20G. The TD06SH was down on power vs the T67 up to around 4,500rpm then it out grunted it all the way to the rev limit. Reading the posts above on this page I think some of the above posts seem to suggest an SH makes ~18psi by 4,200rpm on an RB20.; which happens to be when I make about 20psi on my TD06. I think you will find if you ran an SH wheel you would be making boost about 500rpm later, similar to if you ran a 10cm housing rather than 8cm
-
Probably just sub box. Will measure up the back of my car on Thursday and let you know.
-
Are peopld calling the plain TD06 the "h" variant? If so what are they calling the SH wheel? I find the Trust speak easier to follow. When my TD05 arrives I will take photos of them all side by side and you will see the clear differencbetween TD06/L2 and the SH
-
Throw a tape measure over the box for me. If it fits the back hatch of my Sierra I will grab it off you
-
He is flat out cleaning off all the oil my Sierra dropped over his driveway. I think 5-6 months he will have it all cleaned and may surface again
