Too many Cosworth and Pectel parts ie UK parts for it to run reliably But it did look better than expected all stickered up from the pics I saw. Shame to see them not get many kms under their belt give all the work that has gone in to it. Still, team Last Minute will always struggle with such complex cars

Well, good luck to JEV running around in Nissan's sportscar program. If I was him I would leave as another season at STR is just going to make him the Luizzi measuring stick BUT, for me a more interesting discusson is Hulk and Perez. Seriously, Perez has come on strong and I am thinking that McLaren all happened that little bit too soon for him. He is having a cracking back half of the season

Lets cherry pick our points then. Going into Monaco and returning to Europe JEV had 1 point compared to Dan's 7 points. TOTALLY/CLEARLY KICKING HIS ASS. Thats why I look at the amount of points finishes as having more weight then points to a point in the season. There is only one supreme French F1 talent and thats Romain ...and really he is Swiss In all seriousness whilst I have no love for Jev he has done enough this year to get another year. You only have to look at how Webber went from strong to hopeless post 2010, Vettel to crap this year. Kimi to winning and now struggling to appreciate that the cars are a little fickle and being a fraction off in one years car doesnt mean you cant take a huge step with a car or tyre that somehow fits you better. And, for mine I accpet that JEV is the new Heidfeld. Has potential, a load of what ifs around his performances and somehow seems to accumulate points despite never seeming to impress in other than a single race a season. I scratch my head how he can say that he is capable of Dan like RBR results because when they were team mates they were close....he was never close. He qualified several positions behind every race, never raced in 3rd - 4th with distinction in a GP like Dan did all day at the British GP until like Kimi stayed out and made the wrong call. Never stuck the car in 6th in Bahrain. Instead when in racey positions he runs into people havign received few 10 spot penalties for the next race etc.

LOL...who is full of IFs now? I suppose if you never make Q3 and always have an extra set of fresh tyres its easier to claw a few seconds back in a race Soundly beating Dan in 2013 up to the test? Try 3 points scoring finishes each Dan 7, 10 and 8th with Jev 10, 8 and 6th leading up to Britsh GP. As for Singapore...driving off the circuit every pass helps I guess. Cant argue with the result but it was a rather scrappy, messy drive. He was unlucky not to get Vettels seat and it was probably a close call against Dan. But obviously his frequent mistakes, penalties and messy quali excursions don't ooz confidence. I rate his Canada drive but its about the only time he has strung a solid weekend together without hiccups or driving into people like in Spain etc
-
Yeh, I have to admit that whilst I dont like or rate him he is damn unlucky to be overlooked as i think for the next season, possibly two JEV will be doing the better job than Daniil will at RBR. May not have the pace, or head space to be a Vettel but is capable of being there about most weekends and over a season pull in some good points. As for beating Dan...please ! 2013 Dan vs JEV Points: 20 vs 13 Best Finish: 7th vs 6th Points Finishes: 7 vs 3 Head to Head Quali: 15 v 4 Avg Quali Pos: 10.68 vs 13.63 Cliff Notes: Dan was on for a 4th or so place @ Silverstonewhen the team made the wrong call and didnt pit him with the others and had to struggle on old tyres losing a few palces in the last few laps after the late safety car. I am sure JEV had a few tough brakes as well but overall the years results speak to the trend. 2012 Dan vs JEV Points: 10 vs 16 Best Finish: 9th vs 8th Points Finishes: 6 vs 4 Head to Head Quali: 15 v 5 Avg Quali Pos: 14.7 vs 16.65 Cliff Notes: JEV was behind Dan on the road and inherited one of his 8th places when Dad had mech failures at ends of races. In particular Korea Dan should have finished 8th instead of JEV but a broken swaybar meant he waas limping and JEV overtook him for 8th whilst Dan held on for 9th. In Monza was good for 10th until fuel pump failed on second last lap. There was JEV being hit by Schuey so both sides had bad luck in 2012..but when you weigh up some of the circumstance, along with the speed shown in a rather poor car with rather inconsistant performance...generally people conceded JEV had more points but it was circumstance that played him his hand.

Ahh. I see Mr Red Bull is umming about keeping a slow, more experienced brick alongside the young gun

Well, I cant recall Lewis every really going that well in Brazil...then again I cant recall Rosberg doing that well there either. Looking at the final 3 tracks US and AD look good for Homo over Rosberg. I wonder if last night was a bit of confidence Rosberg needs. He has been doing panicky moves in the last few GPs and handing it to Hamilton without making him even earn it. Last night all he had the inside line and all he had to do was put Lewis to the sword by being wheel to wheel on the inside. ...or wait until DRS...just too panicky and trying to hood wink Lewis rather than set him up for a cool, calm move like he did just about the entire grid last night...whislt makign his tyres last. So, yeh,. Hopefully last night will give him some confidence as he is been scrappy

So much for any of the other teams catching them up. They were soooo dominant today. The fact that Rosberg was quicker than Williams, Dan etc on hammered tyres...those things rarely show their true speed. Seems very ominous for next year too. They only have to tweak this years car to remain dominate whilst RBR, McLaren and Ferrari need to find 1.5-2.0 seconds over Xmas Oh well. One thing about last nights race was the joke that the FIA call track limits, Vettel in his usual great form driving straight off the track at most corner exits.

Bathurst 2014 Tariff 2 Super Cars Discussion
Roy replied to evil_weevil's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
It will be dead by then. No Commodore, no Falcon and COTF. So we are going to have GT3 racing with Camaros, Mustanges and Volvos, E63s etc? -
What an arrogant c0ck Julian Palmer is! Hope he gets passed over for a seat next year

Personally, I would be have written correspondence from OS-Giken confirming what clutch you should or shouldn't run. A friend was one of the first to run one in his car and when it went pop they OS Giken Japan blamed the sprung clutch. IIFC his was a dog sequential not helical so may make the difference between being open to using a sprung centre if you are going helical -
Oh...so we are agreeing. Sheesh "In his report Whiting has indicated that some but not all drivers slowed for the yellow flag zone caused by Adrian Sutil’s crashed Sauber in Suzuka and by varying amounts" Need to take it out of their hands and understand your roofing analogy but if they are going to fall on another worker or a pedestrian then you need to do something like put a better engineering control in place I understand the whole personal responsibility thing but you are rewarding risk taking in sport and well the animal will take risks which in circumstances IMO need to have better controls to limit risks at that point in time
-
Harry...that's BS. If courts step in to stop Sea World staff from engaging in dangerous practices with killer whales pissed off about being in captivity then FIA and stewards need to ensure a drivers workplacesis safe. No need to re-write the rule book or ruin racing...but extra, sensible steps can always be taken to make things safer...including looking at driver conduct under flags. I am not even sure Bianchi is at fault...it was an accident and the flip side its not only about the driver. If Bianchi had hit and killed a marshall ( how easy would that have been) are we going to say it's dangerous for marshalls too so live with the risk? I say nonsense... it can and imo should change.

Now this morning's rumours seem pretty thin http://www.f1today.net/en/news/hamilton-signs-for-mclaren-for-2015 http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2014/10/mclaren-targeted-by-rumours-but-whats-behind-it/
-
Seems Gary Anderson agrees re pit lane type speed limit. its pretty easy to police if you have sector times which give you the average speed through that section of track between posts
-
How does it look in person? Good luck this year..
-
Yeh, but then they will try to re-order the grid and what should be a 1-2 lap thing will turn into 6-8 laps. Tyres and brakes cool off. Cars stack up. Standing water increases as cars are not driving at speed....and on restart they all pile into each other I cant believe there cant be a white line at each flag point and when recovery vehicles are on track then the speed is reduced at these points just like in the pits. Make it 120km/h whatever. Drivers pressing under yellows to bridge a few tenths is just as common when the safety car is out. Hell i recall cars dropping it on track when safety car is out.
-
Firstly I am not apportioning any blame to Bianchi in this accident...but I am wondering with technology what it is today why dont they have detection lines at flag points and cars hit rev limits that will see the cars slow and need to downshift and maintain 120km/h until then clear the flag point where the next green is shown. Seriously the drivers tendency to speed through double waved yellows in V8 Supercars is terrible and F1 not much better. Has long frustrated me that FIA dont police it more heavily and a joke that in quali sessions drivers only need to demonstrate a lift of a tenth or two as acknowledging the yellow

Well Rosberg has now had two recent races where he was leading at 1/3 distance and came home second. Not good enough at the pointy end of the season
-
So we are calling a racing incident a mechanical DNF now? Sorry, Spa doesnt count. Its no different to Germany where Homo crashed into every car on the track during his comeback drive. Only difference this time the team chose to retire the car as he was nowhere. Car didnt break down. And he did the damage to his own car driving like a lunatic back to the pits. Not to say it was right, but in no way should that be counted a mech DNF ... LOL IMHO
