  1. LOL, yeh but the RB30 will have more torque... Good to see someone with first hand experience talk of all the headaches and what would likely be associated cost with actually building one
  2. Re Bottas....I think he is doing a great job. I dont recall him crashing into anyone and he is racing in the most heated part of the grid with all the first lap antics and bumping. He has easily out qualified Maldanado more often then not. When he has been up there racing for positions shown good race craft and a level head. Re finihsing positions I dont know the count but he it would be close if not in his favour for generally finishing ahead of Maldanado. And Pastor may not be consistant but he can be damn fast. And Bottas is a guy plucked from GP3 with next to no practice. No mistakes and out pacing a more experienced driver who over a race distance is quick...just runs into too many other cars
  3. After Honda-Brawn are done with them...and once upon a time they would go on to win the WDC (Mansell & Prost )
  4. Fines that have the possibility of influencing behaviour...are at least justifiable. Ploughing into the backs of cars trying to be a superstar under brakes etc...fair enough. Fining a team for a rear wing failing? Should never happen. Did Rubens or Brawn get fined for the spring that actually hurt Massa? No. Racing is dangerous and sometimes parts fail. if you think their cars are failing in a dangerous manner routinely then exclude them from running until they can pass certain criteria in testing or in a lab (provide shaker rig results etc) I dont share the loathing of Massa that some do but I truly hope he doesnt find his way to Williams or Lotus. Lotus best grab Hulk so he can get smashed by Romain...and Williams best stick with Faildanado and Bottas...who I think has a very level racing head on him. You look at him this year, it boggles the midn that he has come straight from GP3! He was on camera a bit this weekend and racing the likes if Kimi, Alonso, and all the others for the whole race...very mature and clever racer!
  5. Its BS...on both counts. The race was over..last Indian GP...newly crowned World Champion...he did it after pit entry. A slap on the wrist and suspended sentence shoudl have been handed to RBR-Vettel. Then you have Williams...they sure as hell dont design it to fail...didnt want it to fail...yet it happened. It snot like fining them is going to make them work any harder to fix the issue. Its BS. Yes it had the possibility of being dangerous. But look at the STR a few years back whose front suspension just collapsed under brakes. Look at Rubens and Brawn & Massa incident...did he het fined? Its BS!
  6. I am actually starting to get a little bit excited that my boy Romain may not force me to endure the years of suffering that Webber has forced upon me! With a bit of luck he may bag a win this year if the tyre compounds from India show up again.
  7. The way Seb carved through the traffic in those first 12 laps was IMPRESSIVE! 4 in a row....big effort and cool celebration! BUT, to hell with Vettel. How good was Romain! Get in there you good thing! And Dan holding on to 10th after a load of laps of constant pressure from Alonso
  8. The interesting thing will be at least if Webber can get on the same 50mtrs of track as Seb with 5 laps to go.
  9. Its looking rather piss poor. Oh well. I suppose it wasnt the wisest bet to make with the $20 Sportsbet voucher Webber has it all to race for tomoz. If he can get it off the line and hold 3-4 for the opening laps he will be in clear air and pace the tyres and cars behind him....he just needs to do a Hungary 2010 and blitz away in clean air
  10. One of the best sounding cars I have ever heard is Colin Bonds old race Alfa GTV
  11. Just watched P2....RBR eating their soft tyres. Hembrey and Newey at back of pits looking at tyres....and Romain 3rd fastest behind the two RBR cars. Over the long stint on harder compound Webber and Vettel were over a second a lap quicker...but...here is hoping that Romain can get his first win...since at 19:1 I thought it was worth a flutter with some free cash
  12. I am never going to race so i give no farks about about chequered flags. Re some good tunes every time I drive the car...well I would take this sound any day I drove my car...who cares if its slow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzvMQdxUPsM https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=V667PHZwaYI#t=815
  13. Seb is good for a mechanical DNF this weekend. The show will go on
  14. DIETER RENCKEN on Autosport has a few things he wants to get off his chest...some snippets "Unfortunately there simply is no polite way of stating this, but the overall implication of the end-2012 financial results lodged by the Formula 1 division of CVC Capital Partners.. borders on the scandalous." "CVC revealed bottom-line earnings of over £500 million – made up of a mix of £330m profit and £200m refinancing dividend – for the most recent financial year, the operation known as Marussia posted losses of £59m on a turnover of half that....Add in over £1.5bn in proceeds from the sale of various stakes in the F1 operation, and CVC's profits are spectacular – but undeniably to the detriment of the fans and, crucially, the sport." "FOG, by the nature of its business, has access to approved calendars ahead of the teams (and media). Thus hotels within a reasonable radius are block-booked well in advance by subsidiary agency Formula One World Travel, which in turn provides accommodation to F1 personnel at a fee – around 200 per cent of rack rate." "...teams are required to use FOG's official logistics partner DHL for excess freight – at horrendous surcharge. One team boss recently estimated that his outfit's surcharges substantially exceeded the overall freight costs charged by other freight forwarders. Asked why he did not use them in that case, he replied: "Our shipments won't be cleared in time..." It goes on and is a pretty scathing-grubby read. Didnt know that there were so many relationships binding teams for travel etc etc. All but 3 or so teams struggling for dollars? Shocked to read last year, a year where McLaren won 6 races... it lost £3.1m Bernie is about the same height as Hitler was! Worth subscribing to have a read http://plus.autosport.com/premium/feature/5657/formula-1-biggest-scandal/
  15. For sale are my Tein RA setup off my GTSt club car. Have had them since 2007 but for 4 of those years the car has been off the road with me OS etc and have done less than 20,000kms. They were purchased brand new and instantly sent off for revalving by Racepace with new spring rates used. From memory they are 6/4 spings. May be a tad higher but well less than the 10/10 they came with. Only selling as I have changed the rear subframe in the car and have had to purcahse another set of Tein RAs for a GTR. Have since had those rebult and new springs to be identical to these. Only selling due to the shock mount not matching the new cradle/hubs. People complain about no traction in rwd cars, well on 265/18 KU36s and 310rwkws you get a hint of wheelspin in second...nothing in 3rd. With 255/17 RE55/AO50s etc you get no wheelspin in second gear. The car has amazing hook up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV-bcbzwrpg Not going to give these away as they are one of those things that cost a lot of money to get right...good suspension does a load for a car at the track. Asking $1600 + delivery for them
  16. They canned it due to safety but also due tot eh cost of carting all the gear from GP to GP. So dotn see re-fuelling coming back anytime soon...and the new regs with teh added weight of coolers etc and the further reduction of fuel tank size...they are really trying to put the ceiling on power based on economy and effeciency and their KERS power. I susect that there wotn be much wastegate noise from these bad boys as that is wasted engergy and they weill be looking at that as a source of energy recovery somehow
  17. Skyline, especially GTR owners are a wierd bunch!
  18. But isnt that the point. The original poster is talking about shoudl he throw a 30 bottm end in his car. He hasnt talked about changing cams, turbos etc...so he is simply moving his power brand down 500-700rpm. he is talking about track days, not competition and just wants to do them reliably. You then talk about people with a normal budget...well a built 26 bottom end needs pistons and bearings, std crank and rods can do the job for a gob of power. If its an R32 sometimes there are bonnet clearance issues etc. An RB30 bottm end is going to most likely needs rods as well as pistons...need sump adaptor, more machine work for the head studs,. mod dump and cooler pipes....If you want to spend the extra cash and have the extra headroom for future power mods with bigger turbos etc..But the tone of the original post suggests to me best stick with the 2.6L. He said it was responsive as is. HBut he also said budget isnt a concern sooo... present both side of the discussion
  19. Meh...Mitsubishi have not built a good car since the GSR Sigma
  20. Fatz had them on his GTR running 324mm Brembos. They needed a spacer to clear the offset....not sure they would clear radially though with 343mm Measure the min ID of them and I will throw my Alcon Mono 6 over my 343mm rotor and get a diameter for you
  21. Some 17s ... not all 17s. Based on my experience with 343mm setup and CSC calipers, AP CP5555 and F40/50 calipers and 343mm rotors thinhs like AVS Model 6, Work XD9s, 57 Gram Lights, CE28s etc wont fit inside 17" wheels. Teh CE28s fitted but not enough clearance Things like Weds, LM GT4s, TE37s etc will do it easy. I have not tried them but people seem to enjoy some luck with Enkei RP-F1s etc If you want to guarantee fitment inside a 17" wheel then you need to go 332mm rotor
  22. I am not even going to be up there to make sure everyone is too drunk to drive back Monday morning
  23. Yeh...for me it comes down to driver briefings. Traffic management is always a tough thing. And quite often its the so called experience or quick guys that are absent minded when on their slow laps NEMO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZJ6VAfIHu8
