Fatz Gtr Reliability Testing

Pretty wheels on tidy R33 GTR... you've changed! -
Perez always had high potential to disappoint. He is Button with the volume turned all the way up. Capable of having crackign drives, but they are stratedy dependent...not pace. So Kobi seemed quicker over a lap. Often had better race pace....just did not have the strength of pace over long stints on alternate strategies. Didnt Kobi outscore Perez last year? Yeh, so until he shows some actual pace in a car over a lap or the optimum race strategy...not the roll of dice I am a long way from being convinced by the guy. I think DiResta is going to get damaged by the new and improved Sutil much like he was by Hulk getting his eye back in. McLaren really missed the train not getting Hulk on board who himself needs work but has the basics covered

I don't knowthe merits of the speed argument as I'm not a competitor. But as an observation AO50s and E85 means cars are now bonkers fast at circuits that never used to be....so can see where cars ma have picked up loads of pace

That's concerning

Sad to read the horrible news! Thoughts are with his family and friends!

Its funny that you read between the lines of Webbers comment which can be take two ways...but really can only be read one way when you read/hear Horner clearly say that there was an agreement before the race. Has been used and discussed before at places like Spa etc He said it live on tv! You just choose to ignore the fact that mark said it owudl be interesting as they gave him track position duer to Hamilton and Webber suffered even though he was the lead car who according to RBR practice lead cars gets preference. Only this time he didnt and of course he knew it woudl be on with Sebastian if given the same patch of blackstuff Re the Brazil things...tis all trumped up. Go and watch the race again for gods sake. Mark is plenty of things...he didtn selecet reverse gear for Seb, but didnt mess with his race as others claim The race start was a race start. He didnt move aside for him but he didn't do anything different to other start procedures. More could go wrong by doing something unusual..and with Alonso further back there was no need to do anything over then get off the line and when it was safe too let him by and let Seb get on with the race all whilst managing the cars behind him to make sure he didnt get jumped. Seb being tagged meant that never got the chance to happen on a later lap The race re-start when he went around the outside... Kobayashi was behind Vettel and Webber behind Kobi. Vettel sseemed to get a poor re-start with Kobi having a dive on the inside and Webber was alongside Kobi and when Kobi dove up the inside Webber stayed wide. He was racing Kobi who dove up the inside of Vettel . I agree Webber was still out racing for himself with the lottery dip conditions anything was going to be possible...but I think the problems he caused Vettel are overstated. Silverstone...? Like Herbert recently said, Webber just stuck his nose in there to prove he had the pace and was quicker...he then backed off. The charade was he wanted to show he could have done the job...and the proof was he palyed the game by coming home behind him.

Whats wrong with building an engine with used pistons. If they are in perfectly good working order and block machined appropriately with required rings. But main point is it appears poorly machined and assembled...quite possibly have happened even with new pistons

Dont care to be honest. More than the RB20 would be a nice start. @ 350rwkws would stop chasing more power -

OK...patience out the window with all this and costs associated with back to back testing. TD06H-25G with 10cm housing is getting the elbow welded to its compressor cover and with the new fuel system going back to what I know.,Old school trucker turbo goodness. Fark latest tech Hopeing teh 10cm housing is at leat as responsive as the 20G and 73HTA with 12cm housing...if so then will be fine response wise for me. Just hope it belts out some real power over and above what the 20G could -
Or buy the cool moonface ones Gave my car the 10hp back after I installed the Plazmaman pleneum

LOL, yep. I had it there to put the turbo oil feed line to so that I could confirm oil flow before cranking the engine over MINT!

Well after some head scratching found a problem with the Turbosmart gate. Will be surprised if its the cause of the boost problem but either way the thing needs fixing as the bottom of the alloy housing is pissing air through the valve stem due to a failed o-ring. Seems to be made of rubber which has naturally hardened and failed. So in theory that would make the thing spike or run higher boost than expected but will see.

Wouldn't be as big a ball ache as my R32 at the moment. Dropped the exhaust. ..no restriction. So I ripped the Turbosmart Hypergate off and tested it only to find its shagged . So in the morning need to get replacement parts for the gate...new fuel pumps as I sm niw st 100% duty on 1000cc injectors. So obviously s fuel flow priblem. THEN hopefully with sufficient fuel snd steady boost we can find out why the new turbo doesn't make the power hoped....almist time to throw the Trust TD06-25G at it and be f**king done with it. Money running out and still no results -
I am saying his particular character traits suggest we would not get along. Coulthard, champion. Vettel dog. Wish DC wasn't so over it and the old boy comvo of Webz and DC were hammering it out in RBR colours

You have to be kidding! The way a sportsman behaves in victory (fail with that arrogant finger), in defeat (badly..sooking like a brat when beaten...but to his credit he takes being cheated by mech failures etc like a bloody champion) and how they respect their peers is a huge factor in whether I like a sportsman. He fails on so many counts...despite the fact that I want to believe the Top gear Vettel is the real Vettel...he is no doubt a nice enough guy and personable to be around but if I worked with the likes of him...i would not be able to do my job as he is demanding of all the focus and attention and spoils...DOG!

Any more results from the various billet wheels in the Mistu TD06 cartridges? Good work on the mph too!

Was in an R34 GTR with one the other day. No way I am buying one of those exhausts. They are loud and sound likle poo compared to the Trust Ti. No idea how they flow...but IF its a dead exhaust that was somethign I had planned on changing the next 12 months so no big shakes...just have to move it forward -
Good luck to competitors. Woudl be good fun to be servicing and driving around in lala land for a week but perhaps next year. Is the DR30 a goer ?

So the cams gave a sniff that there was more to come. The new turbo has given a sniff that the setup is moving in the right direction. Seems my R32 is more 58 Plymouth Fury and she doesn't like the extra cubes in her and is playing silly buggers somewhere in the setup. Think dirving around with a head gasket issue with condensation in the exhaust on biref trips etc may have collapse the muffler in the 11 yr old HKS exhaust. I hope its something as simple as that because there seems to be an odd restriction somewhere that means we make ok power but not what we shoudl be Meanwhile, I need this spend to stop so I can count my cash and go buy my Sierra an 80s dance partner at the end of the month -
He needs to go bacl to being happy to throw the car into others or at walls. His lack of speed is a bit of a worry 3 races in when his team mate has had to strong podiums

Today or tomoz. The boost control looked ok on the 8cm. Boost was falling over but didnt lose too much sleep as just wanted to get some baseline runs and get a feel for the characteristics. But it wasnt that far away and if we spent more time on the boost feel we could have got it closer than we have been able to with the 12cm. With the 12cm a bit more energy was put into trying to get it to hold boost. Didn't exhaust ourselves as I dont want to spend too much $ fiddling around when the setups are going to get swapped. Main thing is we get to see the character and idea of response and numbers. But curious that it wasn't anywhere as simple as getting the other combos to hold boost. I dont know about power limitations. 306rwkws out of an RB20 is a decent enough haul. But having had the car for 14 years with what has essentially been a number of 20G combinations over the years...everything generally experimented with has been at best a move sideways not forward. Goes to show how capable (basically the best setup) a std RB20 with std inlet plenum and std cams just with a genuine Greddy manifold-20G kit performs! The only change I have made to my original setup that was an improvement was the change from 10cm housing to 8cm back in 2004. Other than that I didnt know I had the optimum setup at the time and have tried various things that were .... umm cash consuming Curiousity is a cruel mistress

I will post this to show why i think the 8cm would still be a great thing on an RB25 if you were running E85. Without stressing too much about boost you can see the boost control seemed ok with the 8cm and with some tweaking would have been able to get it right. These are not close to full tunes, but enough to get an idea of which way the setup was going -
Yeh, they dont spell out anything different to what has been tried and doing. Like I said have had numerous different manifold and gate and EBC and manual boost controllers on my car the 9-10 years I ran the 20G. I bought more springs and have tried combinations of 7psi inner, 3psi inner, 11psi middle and 7psi outer with the associated manual boost controllers/bleeds etc. Anyway, got a good feel for when it hits and how it ramps and we know the compressor will max out around 310rwks on this dyno. So time to compare the power and ramp with the 73HTA

How should I plumb it other than how i plumbed the Greddy manifold and gate with the 20G with AVC-R and off the spring. The 6boost on the 20 with Turbosmart gate and Blitz ID and off the spring? Always plumbed my gates the way I have and never had a problem. Even with my lil RB20 I ony had an 8psi in my original Greddy gate and was able to run a pretty solid 20psi dropping to only 19psi at the top end. I only know the one way and it has worked in the past. Like I said, I am all ears, how would you suggest?
