  1. Howdy everyone, Finally, my stagea is almost ready, its going into a racv vehicle check on Tuesday next week, so if all goes well with that I'll be the proud owner of a 98 S2. But here's my problem, the car has 62k on the odo, which who knows what it really is... Anyways, I need to do the 100k service. The problem is I have an incredible knack of dropping cars of to workshops that bend me over the bonnet and shove a fridge up there. I would attempt to do the timing belt myself (there's some great guides on here) but because I'm in a wheelchair, reaching into engine bays is really tricky. So, can anyone recommend me some good mechanics which will do a good, honest job for a reasonable price? Somewhere in the east or sth east of Melbourne. Also, I notice some of you say to do the water pump at the same time, others say they're good for 200k, so I'm not sure whether to do that at the same time or not. Many years ago I could work on the good old holden red 6's, things were simple back then, but its been 15 years since I've fiddled with cars so my current knowledge is somewhat lacking. What I was wondering is can you put in an electric water pump? Is it worth it, or just a waste of money? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Jeff
  2. Ahhh thanks for those tips Luke, should come in handy. I know what you mean about the light interactivity, with the original 3 pics I pic, you'll notice the blacks have reversed reflections, not sure how I did the second one, but it does look better, but I couldn't replicate the same effect until your tips, so thanks for that. I just fiddle until things look right!
  3. Nice job on the black munchstagea, I must say I rather like it like that. Can I ask for a tip in how you got the black to look so good? When I go black, it never looks quite right. I'm not very good at photoshop, and am probably doing my colour changes the wrong way as mine always dont quite look right. Cheers
  4. Very nice work! You've made my day, if I am to understand you correctly. I'm still waiting on the compliance for my stagea, (supposed to be ready today......) but its got all the tv and whiz bang gear. So, if I grab one of these units, I'll be able to watch tv using the standard head unit?? Im pretty sure thats how I read it, certainly looks like it in your pdf (nice work, will be a huge help ) Tell me I'm not wrong.... please!!! Cheers, Jeff
  5. Just thought I'd also add a more detailed custom respray job. If only I had the money.... Anywhays, here's whats been done. Brake lights have been lightly smoked, drivers window tinted, and a few inches of the roof, old school style I've also lowered the car somewhat and tinted the wheels to match the paint. Hope you like it all! Cheers, Jeff
  6. Ok, firstly I better say that I did these recolours from pics of MyStag260's car, its a schmicho example and he had some good pics with the angles I wanted. So, I hope you dont mind MyStag260!! Anyways, I've changed the two tone line a little, which I think fits the body shape nicely, well, I like them anyways! Stagecoach, I've tried some yellow and blue for you too. Ok, heaps of eye candy, apologies to dial-uppers.... "Flushed" "Lemon" "Goldfinger" "Toffee Apples" "Pink Panther" "Peach" Cheers, Jeff
  7. Well there was already an example with the two tone following the bodyline, so it was just to be a tad different! I can do some more tomorrow, so if you have a colour combo that you'd like to see, its fairly easy for me to do since its all already cut out in photoshop. So a yellow or blue and silver or black? I'll give it a go and get back to you. Cheers, Jeff
  8. Hello all, I'm not sure if you've got around to the respray yet, but I was thinking about a two tone Stagea amd found this topic. So you got me all enthusiastic so I've put 3 colour combo's together. I was thinking the lower colour would extend over the full rear of the car to balance it with the front... First, time I've tried to attach a pic so I hope it works! Cheers, Jeff Im liking the last one best.
  9. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, thanks heaps again chook, I had tried the OP button, thinking it was that, but on seeing the bunch of japanese characters I was like "thats really as much use to me as speedos for polar bears". Well, hopefully should the RACV test all go well, I'll have some pics up within a few weeks. I was pretty stoked when I saw the minidisc in the radio when I was checking out the car, I've got a bunch of them at home which I used to use for my minidisc multitracker mixing/recording desk. I knew if I hung onto them long enough I'd find a use again! I'd also like to apologise for starting a topic asking for a FAST request, I had seen a few and figured that was how its done, later finding the huge thread already existing for fast requests, so apologies to the mods etc. Cheers, Jeff
  10. A big thanks for all the speed and replies. What I'd read about the series 2 start date was obviously wrong, so thanks for clearing that up for me. I couldn't help myself and decided to grab a copy of FAST software as well. But, I have the same question as DaveB, how do you find out what all the options are? I'm just getting a basic screen...??? Cheers, Jeff
  11. Thanks heaps for that chook Yeah, from what I saw, it had the works. But, hang on, didnt the series 2 start in november 98? Does that make it a series 1?? (as you see im still a stagea noob). Cheers, Jeff ps. Is there any way to check what the engine number should be?
  12. Hiya everyone, Been reading over this site for the last week and have found heaps of useful information. I've 1/2 purchased a 1998 series 2 with the works and 72k on it, but the car had only just arrived (not complied yet) and according to the dealer had suffered some front spoiler damage. He assured me that it would all be fixed up and detailed etc, so I'm hoping it all works out ok for me.... The sale is subject to an racv test, but it all sounded and looked good (apart from missing its mouth). But, I'm a little confused with the VIN number, and from the wiki site, it says its a non turbo based on the last number ranges, unless I'm reading it all wrong? The vin number is WGNC34-122152 so if anybody could FAST that number for me it would be greatly appreaciated, and hopefully I'll get to catch up with some of you stagea owners around Melbourne. Oh, and for those interested, you can fit a wheelchair in through the drivers door (my main pre-requisate in a car)!! Cheers, Jeff
