Got My Girlfriend To Model For My Car
zoomzoom replied to DrewII's topic in General Automotive Discussion
judging by the comments of the guy who started the thread it doesnt even seem like she is really his girlfriend. it just seemed like he got the pics from somewhere/someone, then went trolling and making fun of her. not cool at all -
Got My Girlfriend To Model For My Car
zoomzoom replied to DrewII's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i think thats putting it lightly. that bodybuilding forum is full of some of the most vain, arrogant, self centered meathead wankers youll ever come across, internet or real world. so what if you dont find the woman in the picture attractive? what right does it give you to post up numerous stupid "OMFG MY EYES" posts. and the posts that werent straight out insults, seemed to regard her as an object, piece of trash, whatever. the recent suicide i beleive was the result of a bi-polar disorder, but in the case of the woman, millions of people collectively laughing at your face is disgusting and downright cruel. and noone bother putting up the lame "its only the internet" defence, thats millions of real people laughing at one real person, the internet is just a medium for people to put across their horrible views. -
yes just sound deadening. manufacturers always go to such lengths to quiet the turbo
-
when you say the GCG hi flow is $1895 do you mean you are buying a unit for that price, or do you have to send your own turbo off to be modified at that price?
-
definitely check the TPS. ive just had mine replaced as it was faulty and causing major shifting issues in 3rd and 4th

The Super Easy Boost Mod. Did I Get It Wrong?
zoomzoom replied to zoomzoom's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
bad news im starting to think. i havent noticed before but i found black oil dripping from the rubber coupling on the air intake just before the throttle body. its dripped onto the cam cover excess oil in the intake? bad turbo seals? i not sure if the turbo is bad, ive never seen smoke on startup -
The Super Easy Boost Mod. Did I Get It Wrong?
zoomzoom replied to zoomzoom's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
ok i had a good chance to test it today. i took the bypass restrictor off, so it should have been keeping the wastegate closed the whole time, yet it would not boost past 0.5bar i sure hope it wasnt a pressure leak in the intake because that would have spun the turbo very fast so, where am i left now, how do i go about testing the turbo? shaft play? -
my rs4 with 2 sunroofs weighs in at 1690kg. im not sure how much fuel was in the tank but it wouldnt have been near empty
-
OK so i ive removed the boost solenoid from the wastegate setup and my setup is now as follows .............................................(T-connector) (Post-intercooler pipe) ========+=========------->(wastegate) .................................................|| .................................................|| .................................................|| .................................................( ) <--Restrictor .................................................|| .................................................|| .................................................|| .................................................|| .................................................\/ .................................(Pipe back to turbo inlet) Ok so my understanding is that the wastegate spring opens at 5 psi. therefore with my setup the line with the restrictor should bypass some pressure, keeping the wastegate shut past 5 psi and creating more boost. however the turbo is not going past 0.4 bar or around 5.8 psi. ive drilled the restrictor to over 2.6mm and its still not giving any more than 0.4 bar. i dont get that, the line should be bleeding off plenty of pressure by now. in fact id expect it to be over boosting, but its not giving me anymore. WTF? can someone shed some light here? am i boost-tarded or missing something here?

well i picked the stagea over the legnum. some of the reasons being: the legnum is much rarer and parts are hard to come by, engine is rare outside of japan too. plus its one crowded engine bay, i sure as hell wouldnt want to work on it. as for the auto trans the only bad things ive heard is its ability to handle high power. no different in the nissans either as a family car id go with a good condition stagea. but like you say im biased

P Plater With V8 Tow Car?
zoomzoom replied to alwaysdreaming's topic in General Automotive Discussion
lol 5 series bimmer as a tow car? the laws may be nonsense, but its probably not worth the hassle trying to go down this path. not to mention a bmw as a tow car. have fun with the maintenance. youre best going for a diesel, 6 cyl ute. it may be a bomb, but if youre really looking for a "tow car" and not a way to cheat the laws to get a bmw, a ute is a much better option. -
some people switch right off....today for example, i was coming up to an intersection, light turned orange, i pulled up slowly. the person in the lane next to me, however, was totally oblivious and went straight through the red. not just clipped it after it turned orange, i mean straight through the lights which had already been red for 5 seconds. the miracle was whatever traffic tripped the lights must have gone in another direction, as no traffic pulled out onto this section of the road. only chance stopped an accident

on every forum ive seen, theres some criticism about the forum community, but this site is definitely tame. due to reasons such as the price of skylines, meaning that the average owner age is slightly older, not to mention P laws cutting out most of the newcomers. you just need to look at an american car forum where 15 and 16 year olds can pick up a car for a few hundred. then it becomes an animal pit

yeh i bought one already in the country too, but expect to pay for new tyres, possible extra work when it gets inspected, stamp duty.....

Digital Boost Gauges/digital Pressure Senders
zoomzoom replied to zoomzoom's topic in General Automotive Discussion
heres the end result, looks quite neat too. nor does it block any of the other gauges or warning symbols no tacky pillar gauges for me thanks the baseplate the gauge cup mounts to is really just a crude bit of metal which slots onto the pod. im not sure how it was intended to be used but i can make do with much less -
if youre not planning to keep it for very long i dont see why youd want to buy a stagea in the first place...? you will spend a lot of cash after buying it getting it on the road, so its a waste to sell the car so soon. theyre an advanced well built vehicle so if you find one in good condition its worth getting a good service done and keeping it for a while

Digital Boost Gauges/digital Pressure Senders
zoomzoom replied to zoomzoom's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeh i found a cheapy ebay one, but i havent had bad experiences with ebay gauges. its a stepper motor gauge with a sender in the engine bay. the whole unit in the gauge holder is 57mm deep, vs about 90mm for a regular, then you also have a rather inflexible, unsightly vac/boost tube sticking out the back. it should be a clean install, im putting it in now. ill post pics when im done -
i went with a big 600cca cheap bosch and it works great but 1100cca? thats nuts. what do you need that for? starting on a cold morning while doing a bit of arc welding at the same time?

air may be forced into the manifold by centrifugal force or by a positive displacement type device. pressure is simply a result of mass volume and temperature. whatever youre using to compress the air, its still compressed air. on a side note, moving "shitloads" of air doesnt necessarily make pressure. a fan can move a lot of air but cant create pressure. at least 0.001 psi doesnt count. note many of those ebay electric "superchargers", which are high speed fans that push a large CFM, but once the pressure builds past atmospheric pressure theyd be lucky to push 1 psi in some cases.

Digital Boost Gauges/digital Pressure Senders
zoomzoom replied to zoomzoom's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
no, no boost controller as yet. im holding off an electronic boost controller system for the moment because of money and insurance. but i will experiment with the boost solenoid piping, and so a gauge is a must. even EBCs leave you with the problem of the display being right out of sight, down near the DIN slots or ash tray. id like something small in my heads-up field of view
