  1. I remember seeing a show car Audi with a zillion screens. It had one inside the forward part of each wheel arch. You could barely see them unless the car was on full lock.
  2. Easiest way: buy the car, it will motivate you to learn. I was in the same boat, bought an R33 GTS because I thought it looked and sounded awesome. I then joined this forum, started researching mods, went to a bunch of events, started talking cars with other car enthusiasts and was even buying HPI magazines for a while. I'm still no expert, but I at least understand how most things works.
  3. Dude, R34 GTs are crazy fast! It must be your driving ability.
  4. Just over night, Saturday night to be specific. Doesn't even matter the car park closes as we will be getting there before 5pm on Sat and leaving after 11am on Sunday. I was thinking Crown is fairly easy to get to, and relatively cheap, even if it is a bit of a walk to Melb central. Is it still a flat rate or per hour?
  5. Hey guys, Heading out in the city tomorrow night, going to stay at my Dad's apartment which is located on top of Melbourne Central Station. We figure its cheaper to drive and park rather than paying for 5x2 (Sat and Sun) adult train tickets. Just wondering if any of you know some cheap parking near Melb central that we can leave the car in over night. We will be getting there before 5pm and leaving after 11am the next morning. It's an old, insured bombodore so we're not concerned about security or anything. Cheers.
  6. Everyone freaks about the parallel park but my instructor told me they have to give you a huge amount of room to perform it. Makes it quite easy. I actually found my 3 point turn more difficult because the tester made me do it in the narrowest alley he could find.

    Bit Of Help =)

    Who cares, they're both slow.
  8. Thanks for the advice. Did a search and came up with half a dozen forums, which is the primary Australian RX-7/Mazda/Rotor forum that I should jump on? Cheers.
  9. Sounds like an awesome car mate, but I'm in Victoria and not off my P's for a while which is why I'm considering importing as I have time to wait.
  10. Yeah I'm aware of the rebuild issue, but my understanding is they're a lot cheaper to rebuild than a piston engine anyway. I've heard all sort of stories, from people rebuilding them every 20,000ks to people have clocked over 300,000km on their old rotary without an issue. I understand they have their drawbacks, reliability and fuel consumption being two primary ones, but RX-7 itself is a phenomenal car. They rival Silvia's in weight and balance, yet can compete with the 2JZ in outright power. Plus they look and sound amazing. Damn, I sound like a fanboy already.

    Bit Of Help =)

There are heaps of NA R33s. http://www.carsales....odel_String%7C0 I even did the hard work for you. There's heaps more if you manually look through the other Skylines as I've only searched the "GTS" badged ones. As for condition. Avoid ridiculously low k ones as they're false and even if the car is in good nick they will expect you to pay more for it. Similarly avoid any over 200,000ks, unless its cheap and drives well. Look for around 10,000ks per year. Then test drive it. If the engine starts up first time, sounds right, revs right and the gearbox feels good the car shouldn't have any major mechanical issues in the near future. Body/interior should be reasonable too (don't expect perfection). Then get a stateroads check done, if it passes all these tests you've got yourself a nice, clean car.
  12. All these fancy joints for an NA 33? OP, I reckon you're just getting unlucky. Ask friends and family who they go to and try one of them.
  13. Ah okay. I was reading through wiki and read that Australia had some RX7s. How do the S7/8 get here then? I thought we couldn't import cars that were Australian delivered.
  14. Hey guys, Just curious how rare and difficult these cars are to obtain. If one were looking for a RX-7 (series 6+) with no major modifications, and in decent condition how difficult would it be to find? Also, how much would one expect to pay. They seem to average around $25,000 here in Australia. Cheers.
  15. Unless it's a rare, high end model I always go by the rule 10,000ks per year. Give or take a 10-20%. Anyone who buys a 90s gts/Gtst with ~50,000ks (and brags about it) is a moron IMO.
  16. Awesome night, except for my friend locking his keys in the boot of his car and nearly making me miss the movie. However, thumps up for the RACV guy who turned up in like 20minutes. Thanks for organising too Adam. lol @ the Skyline gangsta.
  17. Anyone know the frequency Coburg uses? Got a mate with a Japanese radio still.
  18. I might be there if I can drag a friend up with me. Long, boring trip to make on my own.
  19. It's driver attitude more than anything. Understanding roads, reading traffic etc, doesn't matter what car your in, so long as they're not driving recklessly.
  20. There's only one rather large ding on the front left guard, which I'd prob have to get professionally banged out but the guy said it would certainly damage the paint in the process. Other than that there's one group of nasty scratches (down to the metal) on the rear right guard. The kit itself is in pretty bad condition, I have spare skirts ready to go on, but the rear pods would probably require a bit of work to fix up, or simply replace. Front bar is fine.
  21. $210 delivered anywhere in Australia or free pick up for $200. If no one buys this I'm going to fit it to my car! Could really use the cash though.
  22. They're not. Reason being in an accident they will not crumple like the factory hood. Just hold onto your original one and swap it over if you get sick of the cop attention or have an accident.
  23. If it were me and I was stuck on my P's for 3+ years I'd: Get a decent 2-way LSD. Decent coil overs. Hidden NOS set up. I wouldn't have the NOS hooked up all the time though, just plug the bottle in for the occasional DECA, dyno, drag day etc.
