  3. LSD was awesome, but I don't think it really helped my times. Spent more time spinning out than going the right direction. However it was by far the most fun I've ever had at DECA.
  4. Just make sure you have a good navigator! One of my WD was because Brad yelled at me "2 CONES RIGHT!" By the time I worked out wtf it meant I'd already gone the wrong way.
  5. I'd be interested.
  6. If you haven't been to DECA a couple of times before its very intimidating flooring it over a blind hill you're not familiar with. Once you're at the top though there's no excuse not to stomp it.
  7. I knew it! My worst, but most fun DECA to date. Thanks Ryan for the results, they must be a pain to transfer over to excel.
  8. So is my browser playing tricks on me or have the results not been posted? I was looking forward to seeing how much I flogged all you Datsuns by.
  9. Just get a large. They're both so massive they'll look the same. And yes, I'm aware most things look big on me, but these sizes are bigger than normal!
  10. Anyone else keep reading that and think "The money! The money!!" It's an awesome build, but I couldn't justify that kind of money. Sure, going all out on a well build reliable engine, and even a quality kit with a perfect respray is fine. But all the OEM parts, the nit picky changes which = $$$ and no one would notice or care about even if they did. Have to say though, I love the fact he aimed at pure response and power, and didn't become another dyno queen.
  11. My understanding (and I'm not expert) is that when you give your car a hard time the turbo gets incredibly hot and if you turn your car of straight away the oil boil within the lines causing it to eventually block them. By using a turbo timer, or just letting your car cool down by driving normally for a few minutes before turning it off you're allowing the white hot turbo to cool down enough that it won't boil the oil.
  12. I always find it funny the amount of people who jump straight into their cars then redline it as they leave to show off. One of my mates does this all the time despite the fact I keep telling him off about it.
  13. My cousin stepped into a Porsche apprenticeship after high school and now at the age of 27 earns like half a million per year flying around to mines to dismantle their heavy machinery. He still gets out to track days (drives open wheelers though) on a regular basis too. Granted he was VERY lucky to get into Porsche, but if you just want to get the knowledge/skills then jump into a more profitable area the pay need not be so horrid, and you can still work on your own machines.
  14. Hasn't really been my experience. I never played beta and was late to buy it when released. So when I joined the initial placements had had time to adjust. The system takes a bit of time to rank people accordingly, like I said I was placed in Silver to begin with rapidly stomped my way to platinum in all four game types. Like I said, my mates aren't unskilled, but the player quality (foes and allies a like) are significantly better in platinum. Too good for my liking actually, I enjoy winning and Blizzard refuses to place me again easy opponents
  15. I float around high platinum, although I was initially put in silver/gold for most teams. There is a significant improvement in allies in the higher leagues, obviously. My random allies are usually better than my mates when I play with them.
  16. Serious? I love this game. I've played maybe one level of single player and gave up on it. All my time is devoted to online game play. My win ratio is just over 50%, but that's to be expected as they chuck you in a league equal to your skill level. I've not had a single person leave my game early, unless we'd obviously lost, and that's in maybe 100 games so far. What league are you guys in? I can imagine in lower leagues people giving up early, or just not caring. The balance is great, there are so many different tactics, tricks and just plain marco you can use to overcome your opponent, and I like the sub standard graphics. It runs on my ancient shitbox! Try watching some youtube commentaries, I throw them on when I'm eating breakfast etc in the morning. Quick 10min video that I often find really entertaining.
  17. Sounds like a 2-way to me. Just get the revs up to 5-6k then release the throttle. You should be able to hear the diff working.
  18. Yeah that's where it happened, came around the sweeper (on the long wang) and braked too late going into the chicane. Worst part is I still hit the cone! I should've kept the power and on and just blasted through them, would've been cheaper and gotten me a better time Maybe I'll take Dan's advice and get some half dead semis. Chuck them on the Advans and leave the stockies for daily driving.
  19. I didn't think I locked up for too long either, but like you were saying at the hotel. Big, heavy car = more wear and tear.
  20. Well after a very bumpy ride home I thought perhaps the vibrations were a little bit more than a flat spot in the tyre. So I went the mechanics, he took one look at them and pointed out spots on every single tyre where I'd worn them out beyond the indicator. Apparently they're so severe that I have to pretty much bin them. So... anyone know some decent cheaper tyres than KU36's which I can run until I learn how to (and more importantly, when to) brake correctly?
  21. OTR motors has a lot of Japanese brand rims for sale.
  22. Just a quick update. Got back from DECA on the weekend and am absolutely loving this diff. I may not make as much smoke, or go as fast as some of the turbo boys, but I can certainly get just as sideways! Without a doubt the best mod I have done to my car so far, and recommend to anyone to invest in a good LSD before splashing out on extractors, etc.
  23. Awesome day, as always. I think I probably broke some PB on the wangs, but will probably get my worst overall score due to multiple WDs, and cones, but I had a blast doing it and learning the new LSD. Thanks again to all the organisers, volunteers and micolour. Sorry to the poor hat removalist girl who I sent running twice as I came spinning wildly into the gate. Now I think I'll take a nap, Brad and I got up at 4am, stayed out till 4am and then drove back on a few hours sleep.
  24. Sounds good, that's literally 5min down the road. What time you planning on leaving there?
  25. Where you guys meeting up? I'm from Mt Eliza so might tag along too.
