TVR This too would certainly be a step up from a stock R34 GTR, if you're brave enough to drive it.

So an open diff means both wheels can turn independently of the other, and closed means they're locked and spin at the same rate? By engine braking do you mean when the clutch is engaged but you're not giving the car any throttle? I have a '94 NA Supra SZ. I assumed a 1 way LSD was just an open diff. Basically, if I try to do a burnout I get one wheel spinning.

Hey guys, Recently been doing some reading about diffs and I'm a little confused. Just need you guys to clarify if what I'm saying is right, or correct me if I'm wrong. 1-way diff: - Safest of all three. - Standard on most cars. - One wheel spins only, and the other won't gain any power till the spinning one gains tractions. 2-way diff: - Same as a welded diff. - Both wheels spin at the same rate at the same time. Does this include when cornering? Would this mean there would be excessive tyre wear and noise when daily driven? - Best for drifting. - Most dangerous of all three IF you don't know what to expect. I read something about 2 ways not "letting go" like other LSDs when releasing the throttle. What does this mean? Could you give an example of how my car (1 way diff) would react differently to a 2 way? 1.5-way diff: - Combination of the two above. - Acts like a 1 way diff until excessive (or is it full) throttle is felt then acts like a 2-way diff. - Will "let go" unlike a 2-way diff when the throttle is released. - Best for circuit work. Mini-spool: - Best for drag racing. - Similar to a 2-way in that both wheels have power at the same time. Any further clarification on the differences between this and a 2-way? Also, any advice on how to properly launch a RWD car with a 1-way LSD? This is for DECA and other upcoming track days. Not for traffic light drags Appreciate any input. Thanks.

Its always been my understanding that in NA applications: more revs = more power. Although there's a bit of discussion on the Supra forums that the NA 2J gets choked at around 5500-6000rpm and its best to shift then.

Sound of the gravel grinding under your tyres?

Shit, forgot to mention its for both nights please!

Does It Feel Like Your R33 Is Outdated?
KezR33 replied to crazyr33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've driven a late model V8 ute, was a loaner car whilst they fixed my mate's NA Supra. We were actually really timid driving it because neither of us had driven a V8 before and the reputation they carry. But then when we actually put our foot down... it was really disappointing. Sure it was a stock auto, and not one of their performance V8s, but it really wasn't much quicker than our NAs. No exaggeration. But anyway, my point was mainly the V6 P platers who think their Commodore loaded with extra weight is a drag weapon. -

Probably because the VZ is what, 10 years newer? I hate Commodores. They're not unique, they're designed to carry five adults comfortably and pull a trailer, and they perform like ass. I cannot see any attraction to them as a car enthusiast. The fact they pull up beside me with 5 said (young) adults in the car, monster subs thumping, 20" chromies and try to drag me makes me laugh too. Even if it was a V8 I doubt they'd keep up with my little NA with all that weight and unsprung mass. The 33 may be starting to looks its age, but with minor cosmetic modifications they can look mint once again, and be proud of the fact that your "performance car" isn't used by Mums all over Australia to drop their kids off at school and pick up the groceries. I see this car at the recent DECA and even though it only had subtle cosmetic modifications it looked amazing. http://www.flickr.com/photos/anna_schulze/...57623661940384/ Editors note: I don't have anything against Falcodores when they're used for their intended purpose, I just dislike people pretending they're some awesome sports car. I don't think my NA Supra is an amazing sports car either, but its sure as hell a lot better than Commodore and the best thing I can drive on my P's. -
Isn't the N1 like the rarest and most "elite" Skyline ever made (excluding the Z-Tune)? I don't consider the new GTR a part of the original Skyline family as it is significantly different. I'd believe it would be worth that much and more, especially considering its probably appreciating in value.

Hey Bec, Could I please get a room for four, or even two rooms for two? Double beds would be preferable. Thanks! Edit: This is for Kieran + 1 and Brad + 1.

Happy to help between runs again. Brad and I working on getting the girlfriends down this time too, so maybe we could convince them to do something.

Micolour Sauvic Deca Motorkhana - Round 2 - Saturday 5th June 2010
KezR33 replied to Belsil80's topic in Archived Events
He may have a new car by then. Currently looking at S13s too. -
Cabbie went too far. I dunno if its media hype, but in the paper today I read that the cabbie actually hit one of the guys as he climbed out of the car (with the cab) and sent him flying.

Just curious, but why not go for an SR20? Aren't they lighter and similarly powered? An Autech SR20DE would be a nice starting point.

Woop woop. Forms and payment will be in later today! Dragging Brad (silver Supra) along with me again too. -
I only just discovered this: From 6 July 2009, drivers issued with a probationary licence on or after 1 July 2007 may drive some lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicles. The definition of a lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicle is a vehicle with 6 cylinders or less that is; turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne; turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that is considered to be a family type vehicle (4 seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle. A family type vehicle is a sedan, station wagon or hatch normally used to carry families/passengers with 4 or more seats and are equipped with child restraint anchorages. A family type vehicle does not include a sports car (two door coupe). Source That means R32 GTST Sedans are P plate legal! So your cars have all increased in value. What other cars are now legal? VL and R31s turbo sedans? Old school Galants? Can anyone think of any others?

Damn those are some serious speakers. 180 RMS? You'd need some a serious amp to power them. Thanks though, I will look into them.
-
Already sorted. http://img104.imageshack.us/i/getattachmentk.jpg/

depends on what you can afford, 50 bucks to 10k a pair price range ???? No more than $1000 for the amp and splits, but I'd rather spend less if I can get away with it. amplified ? or deck power? Either. location ? are you installing or pro ? I'll install it, just going in the front doors. music you listen too most often ? how loud ? blasting or sane levels ? Sane with the occasional blast, trance/dance mostly. what year supra ? 1994. Sorry, I quickly realised doing my own research all this matters too. Cheers.

Hey guys, Its my birthday soon and my girlfriend has offered to replace my dying front speakers. I'm basically looking for high quality 6.5" speakers with seperate tweaters to put in the front of my Supra. I plan on sound deadening the two doors at the same time, but I'll be running the stock rears and no sub. Any recommendations as to what I should look for? Going to do a bit of research tonight, but I need to decide tomorrow morning, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Affordable? The R32 GTR was $110,000 ($AUD) brand new back in 1991, which taking inflation into account makes it about ~$175,000 today.
-
Not a Skyline, but it is NA and I do wear an SAU badge!
-
You should look up the Nissan Varietta too.
-
Yeah, but my point was that it wasn't really aiding the community, or making the roads safer. Speeding up there, or 50meters from there won't prevent accidents or reduce civilian risk. I can think a lot more dangerous places that people regularly speed. Doesn't matter anyway, I'm just venting. Thanks guys.
