Been having a discussion on supraforums about whether or not the end muffler has any major effect on the sound a car puts out. Obviously the difference between a 1" pee shooter and a 5" cannon will be different, but if you had two of the same car, with the same set up all the way back to the rear muffler would two different cannons make a large difference to the noise? I figure a cannon is a cannon and brands will only change the note slightly. Anyway, the reason I'm bring this here is because I currently have a Varex muffler on my car, but my car is quiet enough not to need it in the first place. A mate of mine wants to buy it off me, so I told him to buy me a replacement and I'll give it to him for free. IF there is a difference, can anyone recommend me a decent muffler only (not interested in a catback, already have a custom system) to replace mine with? I asked on the Supra forums but compared to SAU they're utterly dead. Thanks for any input guys, and sorry for bringing another exhuast thread in here.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll definitely keep up the DECA days, I have never had so much fun in my car before. Just curious, but where do you learn basic rules and courtesies on the racetrack? Not just what each flag means what (which I'm sure you hear in a brief everyday you head out), but say I've got a GTR behind me is there a safe way to let them pass, and let them know I'm letting them pass? Thanks again.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get out onto into motorsport and experience driving my car the way it was meant to be driven. I'm very inexperienced, having done nothing like this on the street, and only attended one DECA day with SAU Vic. For the record I drive an NA manual Supra with basic mods - this is also my daily driver, so I don't want to kill it! I've been currently looking at advanced driver courses, and watching for SAU and Supraforums events to participate in. However I'm coming here to ask you guys for advice on other areas I can look. I'm up for trying just about anything, whether it be track, drag, skidpans, etc. Again, I just want to stress I don't want to kill the car. I understand shit happens, but I'd rather avoid overly stressful activities (such as drifting) or tracks with nasty corners and walls close to the track. I just want to have a bit of fun, and gain some experience. So please, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Whether it be events to attend, or just motorsport advice to begin with. Thanks, Kieran.

Mornington Peninsula/city Maccas Run Cruise - Friday Jan 15th
KezR33 replied to The_Scroop's topic in Archived Events
I'll probably avoid Chapel St, and just meet up at the next point if any want to join me. Chapel St = stop, start, stop, start and trouble. -
I'm almost certain the FTO would be quicker. It's lighter, has MIVEC (yo!) and puts out the same power the R34 does (147kw).

TURN CAPS LOCK OFF BEFORE POSTING NEXT TIME PLEASE. NO, IT WON'T HELP SELL YOUR CAR.

My mate who owned a worked V8 ute said the majority of modified imports would pull away from him off the mark, right up until 100kph. Then he'd really come into his own and start hauling ass. Problem was most people hit the speed limit, stop and think they've won. Now I'm not suggesting you go out dragging like my mate, but if you do want to have a bit of fun on the street the GT-T is going to be much more enjoyable. Only time my mate ever took out other cars was when they'd harass him on the freeway at which point he'd easily "munch" them, as he put it. My mate's Evo was similar. It was pretty stock, and all he'd have to do was bounce the limiter, side step the clutch and nothing was keeping pace with him within the speed limit. Yeah, some of my mates are idiots.

Yeah, I would. The automatic transmission would irritate me, but IMO that car does nothing for me, it just looks old, and there are much better looking cars from that era.
-
What about the Autech RB26DE R32? I think I'd take that over any other NA Skyline.
-
I don't know what it is about the GTR either, its just so much more aggresive looking than the GT/-T. The guards, the nose, etc. A Black R34 GTR is one mean looking car.
-
NA R32 and R31 That R32 is pretty damn sweet, and I've never been a huge fan of the R31 but I love the look of this one. Watch part two as well, that's when the real big guns come out.

What are you talking about? Automatic R34 Sedans are everywhere! http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/result...642%20613%20898 Cheap as chips too.

Out of curiosity, how much does the stock cat restrict flow? When doing a catback system is it worth putting a high flow cat in, or will the main restriction be further up with the extractors/front pipe?

At 35k I'd be looking around and test driving a few other cars. 35k will get you a mint condition 2000+ model RZ Supra, or a heavily worked one, and we all know what kind of weapons a worked 2J can be. An Evo 8 MR is affordable too, and nearly as practical as the Typhoon. STi's fall in this bracket too. If you're brave you could get a series 8 RX7. I love those cars to bits, but rotaries can be expensive to maintain.

2x Kumho Ku36 245/35/r18
KezR33 replied to KezR33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Come on guys, you won't find these cheaper anywhere else. I am willing to travel a small distance to meet someone for a trade. -
Big difference between the GT-FOUR and the 25GT. $14,000 is also a ridiculous amount to pay for an R34 sedan. Is it manual or automatic? If its manual then 14k might be right, but still expensive. Forget dealer warranties too, they're often bullshit. Find a nice private sale for around $11-12k and enjoy that.

Hey guys, Just a quick question. I've been looking around at rims and am wondering how effective high quality tyres can be on narrow rims. I notice on websites like tempetyres, stgeorgetyres, etc that most of the rims are like 7.5-8.5" wide. A lot of the JDM wheels I like too are ridiculously expensive at the wider widths. This doesn't phase me too much as a) the rims are cheaper and b) the tyres will be cheaper. Will narrow high quality tyres out perform cheap to average wider tyres? Cheers.

Please stop bumping this thread. I'm cool with people posting N/A cars in this section, but there's no need to constantly bump what's already a pretty quiet forum. -
N/a Manual Supra For Sale (vic)
KezR33 replied to KezR33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
I would consider swaps for a very clean R34 Coupe 25GT manual (with cash your way), or maybe a tidy S14. I'm hoping to import my next car (the R34) though so swaps are unlikely. Throw me offers though, I like looking at other people's cars. -
Hey guys, Up for sale is my 1994 manual JZA80 SZ Supra with approximately 148xxxkm on the clock. Modifications include: Exterior: Veilside front bar and skirts Custom pearl yellow paint White Advan TCIIs, 10.5" rear and 9.5" front. (these are actually worth quite a bit!) Interior: Aftermarket JVC speakers JVC headunit and fold out 7" DVD screen. Performance: HPC DKNE extractors Full custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with high flow cat Varex muffler Apexi Panel filter All of the above performance modifications are less than 3 months old, the exhaust is one of the best sounding exhausts I've ever heard, possibly THE best on a Japanese import. I'm not biased, or exageratting. The DKNE extractors make the 2JZ-GE sound amazing. It also makes the car one of the quickest cars a P plater can drive. The car itself is mechanically top notch. I had some gearbox issues recently, but the entire gearbox has been compeletely replaced along with a new clutch and the car now drives perfectly. The engine is healthy as a horse with no leaks whatsoever. Car has been serviced every 5,000km since I've owned it with receipts to prove it. I also had the timing belt redone when I purchased it. The bad part is the body. The previous owner was not so careful and it has minor dents and scratches in various places, nothing major. The front bar will need to be replaced. I have a stock bar and all the equipment needed (matching paint, spray gun, paint thinner, primer, etc) to re-spray the bar. I will give this free to the next owner, it is their choice whether or not to spray the stock bar or replace it with another aftermarket one. This is the same reason I am selling the car. I bought the car as a bit of project, I planned on re-spraying the entire car myself, but I really don't have the time, nor the desire to do it anymore. I'm asking $13,000 at the moment. Although I do have the exhaust for sale on the Supra forums, and will likely sell the wheels too. Obviously the car will drop in price as these parts are removed. I'm located on the Mornington Peninsula, and can be contacted on 0422 860 787 or PMed here. Best to call me during week nights. Thanks, Kieran.

Autech & Varietta S15
KezR33 replied to KezR33's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
No worries, I expected as much. I'm not in any particular hurry as I need to sell this Supra first, but I plan on pricing it to sell, so hopefully that's not too long. -
Hey guys, I'm currently looking to import an R34 25GT. I've already sent emails to several of you enquiring about price and difficulty. However, I've always had a soft spot for the S15. If I were ever to buy one (on my P's), it would be a Varietta or an Autech (or both) model. Purely out of curiousity, how much do these cars normally cost to import? They average around $20,000+ privately bought within Australia, but using some of your calculators it is estimated that they're around $16,000-$17,000. Is this accurate? How difficult are these cars to comply? Are they any different to the turbo models? Thanks, Kieran.
