  1. Just copped a $1000 service bill, need cash. Price dropped to $1000 firm. Seriously guys, these plates are worth that and more. I literally will keep them for my Supra if no one takes them at this price.
  2. Is that the HKS SSQV BoV? I've been trying to convince a mate to buy one for his evo, but all the vids I've seen of it its a sharp, high pitched noise rather than the VL flutter. Just curious, is "dosing" unique only to the VL, or is there a specific reason VL owners choose it?
  3. My grandfather used to drive a straight eight when he was younger, apparently. No idea on the make or model. No idea whether it would've sounded any good either, but the words straight eight are fun to say.
  4. What the hell is that noise? I've heard it twice now, both times from VLs. Is it some tricked out BoV? If you ask me I think it sound ridiculous. My girlfriend was in hysterics for about 10min as we drove beside this thing. Thanks.
  5. To be honest, I've been told they're worth like $5k by a lot of people (salesmen at various import dealerships), but at the end of the day they're just plates. If someone offered me $1200 I'd get rid of them simply because I've just gone into debt and cash is looking very friendly right now. Throw me an offer, like I said, I might be tempted anyway.
  6. My advice: learn to live with it. It will cost you tons to fit and paint a front bar and even then the paint will never be exactly the same, and this is just for a stock front bar. Live with it, and if you keep hitting shit maybe one day you'll be forced to replace the bar, then you can do it the way you want to.
  7. I say go white! I've had a bit of a fetish lately for white wheels. But seriously, if the fetish weren't there I'd say go for that "shadow" color. Not a solid black, but darker than silver too. Always looks good on a black car.
  8. How difficult are custom retrims to install? Has anyone done it before? I'm referring to the types you get on ebay like these: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SEAT-COVERS-TOYOTA-...93%3A5|294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/LEATHER-SEAT-CELICA...93%3A3|294%3A50 For $400 you can get both front seats retrimmed, that seems pretty nice, but how difficult are they to put on? Thanks for any help.

Try an NA one, they pull surprisingly hard. They're something like 130-140rwkw. As for the kit, I didn't like it much at first either, although it is growing very quickly on me. I'm doing a hobby spray painting course with a mate of the next few months. So we plan on whacking a subtler kit on and giving it a fresh respray. As for the plates; they only held on to the grill by those zip lock things. The previous owner only put the bar on it a month or so before I bought the car and hadn't bothered to mount the plates. One of my mates is already working on a bracket to hold the plates in place. BTW, if you don't like the kit you should've seen the wing that it came with. Seriously, it puts Evos to shame.

Actually, whilst I'm tipsy, I do have a question. The plates: UNR34L On an R34 I reckon the cleverness of them out weighs the lameness of them. On a Supra? What do you reckon. Cool or just plain lame? Be honest.

    Feeling Good.

Sorry guys, no particular reason for posting this. Just feeling really good right now and feel like sharing. Had a few drinks, heading out tonight for a friend's birthday, just finished exams and best of all: picking up my new car tomorrow - a '94 non turbo Supra. Carsales pictures are terrible, but this is basically what it will look like (same kit, and no spoiler): http://www.bodykits.com/Extreme-Dimensions...-101345/616552/ Only mine is bright yellow with white wheels. To be honest, I don't know if I like the kit, but mechanically the car was top notch and the body/interior was mint. Cosmetics are cheap to fix. More pics will come, promise!
  13. Dude, read the f**king thread. Insurance > Loss of License. No one gives a f**k what the cops think, it's the insurance companies that will f**k you over.
  14. Or a Supra. 0-100 in 6.1 seconds ftw! Sorry, I really don't care much about performance. Just stoked to be picking up mine next week.
  15. I'm in a similar situation. Everyone I spoke to at Vicroads said yes, it's fine to drive turbo charged cars (under the 125kw per ton limit), however, some guy on nissansilvia.com was adamant that it was not okay. That he wrote a letter to Vicroads asking for confirmation (and a letter of proof to show the police) and they told him no, it was not okay. In the end I didn't see the gain of having a turbo worth the hassle, even if it is legal. Just buy a nice N/A and enjoy it for the cruiser it is.
  16. Actually, I think you're right. I didn't speak to the mechanic directly, this is just what the seller relayed to me. I asked for the mechanic's number so I could contact him directly and sort something out, but he never got back to me, and since I'm not particularly interested in the car anymore I didn't hassle him either. My guess is he was upset with the low price we agreed on (I always knew he didn't like it, I'm pretty sure it was the wife who pressured him into taking it), and was looking for a way out. So hopefully that's a bullet dodged.
  17. The mechanic who did the testing. I thought it was a bit suss too, but honestly I have dealt with enough shit for this car I didn't even care to chase it up. I hadn't even bought the thing and it was giving me the shits. For the other guy who asked; it was a Toyota Supra.
  18. Got lucky. One of the front shocks was leaking, and the mechanic would not pass it until it was fixed. However, you cannot use second hand shocks, and you cannot use aftermarket parts. It has to be a new and original part from Japan. Which costs a small sum of money and takes 5 weeks to get here! It also gave me a pretty good excuse to bail out on the deal as the more I thought about the car the less I liked it. Little things were bothering me, like the wear and tear on the interior not matching odometer. It had some wonderful things, like a beautiful custom paint job (not a cheap job, and nothing overly bright or flashy) - which is what I fell in love with in the first place, but everything else was annoying me too much.

    Spotted Thread

Had a bit of fun with a Silver R33 with carbon fiber hood on Boundary Rd near Moorabbin. It had a big www.skylinesaustralia.com sticker on the rear windscreen. I was riding shot gun in my mates white Evo. Very nice car. Its rare you see such a clean, respectable looking 33.
  20. You're missing the point. You can do anything and everything under the sun to hide the fact you're driving an illegal car, and you might get away with it. But then again, you might not. The question is, can you afford it? Can you pay for the new Beamer you just rear ended in the wet? Can you pay for the repairs for the traffic lights you just totaled? Can you afford the hundreds of thousands of medical bills the poor sod in the other car has to undergo? If you're lucky you'll just write your own car off and get nothing back, and that's the best outcome! And don't say it won't happen, because it does. I know first hand exactly what it's like to have the worst luck in the world.
  21. It baffles me too how stupid some P platers can be. Actually, I don't think it's stupidity, I just don't think they fully comprehend the seriousness of the matter. Forget fines, demerit points and possible loss of license. It's BANKRUPTCY that scares the shit out of me. I mean, there is a reason your third party insurance is covered up to 30million or something.
  22. We came to an agreement. He must at least get a quote from a mechanic licensed to deliver RWCs on what the RWC will cost. If it is less than $500 I'll agree to the original price, if its more we'll have to renegotiate or I'll back out. I'm gonna call up the mechanic before I buy though and confirm with him that if I bring the car in they'll agree to do the RWC for the quoted price. Thanks for the help guys.
  23. R33's certainly are simply due to the RB25DET. R32s are sitting just on the 125kw limit with their RB20
  24. I like this stateroads idea. Gonna cost a shitload though. Website says $500, or $500 warrenty? I don't understand it. Well, even $260 + $200 deposit is going going to hurt if the results come back poorly, but better that than losing the entire $11,000. For reference I'm looking at '93 N/A Auto Supra with 150ks. Has a bunch of other minor mods too like exhaust, alarm, stereo, rims etc.
  25. That's what I was concerned about. So what's the worst outcome? $1000 for rotor pads and shocks? Will it be more?
