Just curious, but are you aware of the costs/punishment of being caught driving a turbo car? Is it really worth it?

Why Shouldnt I Sell The Skyline For A Wrx?
KezR33 replied to Julzillionaire's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My thoughts exactly. The fun factor lies in the acceleration. I don't give a shit if the car produces 100kw, which is about what the GT-A produces stock atw, a slight under exageration, but it's still not much (smaller turbo, very restricted exhaust, etc) if it takes off like a rocket - that's fun. My mate owns a stock GT-A, and the thing is a weapon. Literally point and shoot. -

+ 1 for the Evo. They're rarer, fing quick, and they aren't cop bait. -
What the guy above me said is spot on. Assume that EVERY R33 has been wound back. I'm not saying they all are, but you really can't tell on some. With that in mind, you pretty much can ignore the number of k's and just look at the condition of the car, how it drives, etc. Be extra wary of any car under 100,000km because they're almost certainly wound back, and you'll just end up paying more for nothing.

Worst. Law. Ever. Seriously. So much for the designated driver. Unless he/she feels like doing 4 trips.

Heh, I'm not a show off, and I honestly don't care about performance in an NA (so long as it has some zip). The most I'll do is a squirt here or there to reach the speed limit.

You should've left those three other issues under the Zoom banner. How many people saw this "new" magazine and bought it only to be severely dissapointed? Of those people, what percentage is going to read this post and know it was still a "Zoom" magazine? You lost a major oppurtinity there.

Well, I went and sat in both in the flesh today, and the guy took me out in both, and it's safe to say I'm sold... On the Supra. I must've looked at a really ratty Supra in the past, because this one's interior wasn't all that bad. I loved the look (exterior) and for an NA they have boatloads of torque. I was honestly impressed. Backseats still suck, but to be honest the 34 isn't much better, and I highly doubt I'll have more than 2 (occasionally 3) people in the car, and the third can sit behind the passenger. Is it still cool for me to wear an SAU badge, or do I have to go find another forum now? Thanks for all the input guys.

Next time drive half in your lane, half in the emergency lane.

I want to do something like this. Get your standard alarm system installed, the make up my own custom GPS system. I remember someone posted a DIY post here a while back. Involving a dirt cheap mobile phone with auto answer and silent mode, wiring a car charger directly to the battery and stashing in the most obscure place within the car's body. Then record the sim # and the M(something) id and when it gets stolen tell the police those two numbers and they'll call it and trace the call. It's pretty fool proof. I mean, even if they disconnect the battery, the phone has it's own battery which should hopefully last long enough for the cops to find.

I'd be too paranoid I'd get some import hating cop pull me or one of the bridal party over on the way to the wedding.

Come on be fair guys, you cannot blame the Police for that tragity. It's the dickhead in the VL who deserves a beating.

http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/Fun_P_plate_legal_cars That list is a little dated, so the prices are going to be slightly cheaper.
-
I tried searching but only came up with pretty scattered/old results. Could someone please give me a list of import dealerships around the CBD, eastern and south-eastern suburbs please? Mainly looking at NA Supra's and R34's, but will look at any nice P plate legal car. Just names will be fine, I'll hunt them down myself. Thanks.

Honestly, do the reseach yourself. Go to justcar.com and get an online quote. Google the NA R34 Specs and get the figures. Some of these answers will take literally 10seconds to find. Then if you can't find some answers come back and ask.

NA R32's are very, very rare, and of the few that you'll find they'll be in such poor condition it's not worth it. R33 NA's are everywhere, and perfect for your price range. You'll also find NA 300zx's, NA S13s, older Impreza's, Soarers, Beamers, and as you mentioned Preludes. Personally, R33's are an awesome first car, and probably the most reliable of above mentioned.
-
As you can see they're brand new and obviously more suited for the R34, but any car can get away with them. I am open to any reasonable offers, although I have grown quite fond of them, and will use them myself if no one is interested. PM on here please.

Brand New 18 X 8 Inch Prg Rims (114.3 X 5 Pcd)
KezR33 replied to Big Zil's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
I really don't know much about fitment, but would these fit an NA R34 or Supra? -
http://r32-gtr.mybrute.com Do eet. Edit: Damn, just saw the other post for this two below. Ah well.

+1 for black.

You've missed the point. You said autos are harder to sell than manuals. At $15,000, yes they're harder to sell, but you're not buying your auto for that much in the first place. You're buying it for several thousand less, and that doesn't mean it will be more difficult to sell at a later date.
-
That guy was obviously a fool. What I'm saying is N/A autos are no doubt worth less, and will sell for less, but that does not mean there is less demand for them. The sheer fact that they're cheaper will only increase their demand.

What's the difference between the older Supra's and the newer ones? I thought all the newer VVTI (or whatever it is) were turbo only. Better/stronger engine? Any other differences? Thanks.

I think the majority of the Police force are pretty decent people just trying to do a job, but... I have personally experienced police corruption, and it very nearly messed my life up.

What I really don't want to do is pay an extra few grand for a badge. I personally hate Beamers, they're ugly and nothing spectacular IMO. If I really wanted to go that way I'd prob get a Lexus, if they too weren't so ugly. I've always loved imports, and it's never really been about the performance. I mean yes, I love the performance side of them, but I don't get a whole lot of personal joy from speeding, cornering or anything like that. I can't really explain it. I guess it comes down to everyday road use. If I could get out to the track I'd certainly give the car a bit of a boot, but on the street it's just not worth it. I've been in enough trouble for one lifetime not to ever risk anything like that again. Maybe I'll consider a Soarer. On a more random note, where I live I you literally will go for days without seeing a Skyline, Supra, etc. If you do, it'll just be a stock R33 kicking around, never a 34 or 32, but for some reason, there a dozens of Soarers all over the place. Which is why I didn't suggest them. That, and 90% of them are turbo charged. I just want to cruise around in a car I've always loved and admired.
