I do like the sound of the Subaru Liberty. They have a boxer engine too? I'll look into Integras too, although I much prefer the way Preludes look. I'm quite keen to get a convertible, besides MX5s and Celicas what other cheap models are avaliable? No Commodores, I know they're all over the road but P plates + Commodore = hoon. Plus I just dislike them.

Just write a nice letter stating why you were speeding. You sped up so you could change lanes and reach an upcoming turning lane. It was really wet and truck was spraying water all over your windscreen nearly blinding you, so you sped up to overtake it. Hell, I know a guy who said the flash scared him causing him to speed up, which makes no sense because the speed had already been taken, but he got off it.

With a max upper limit of say; $18,000 but a preferable limit of $15,000 what car should I buy? More than happy to spend less too. Some limitations; Has to be a car not typically viewed by the public (or mainly the police) as a hoon car. Preferably secondhand. Reliable. Non turbo. No V8s. Doesn't need to be overly economical, but nothing that guzzles either. A bit of guts, nothing performance wise, but a bit of zip in traffic. A nice car - nothing ugly, and something I can take a bit of pride in. Ones I am considering are; MX5, old BMW (although I hate these cars, so probably not), an old Lexus, Prelude, or convertible Celica. Thanks for any input.

It's psychological more than anything. A 2.5litre engine may not chew through much petrol, but people will always view sports cars (as unsporty as a NA Skyline might be) as fuel guzzlers. We're lucky though, Skylines (NA in particular) are some what resistant to economic conditions in the sense that most buyers are young with no debt, no mortgage, or dependents (kids, wife, etc) and lets face it, often irrational with their spending.
-
Just sold mine for $7.5k, was a bargain but I wanted it gone. (Sold within 24hrs of going on carsales). Another thing to note is that with our current (and worsening) economic conditions, and rising fuel prices the value of all cars is going to plummet over the next year. I'd rather sell it cheap now than have it sit around till it naturally dropped to that price in hopes of gaining an extra $1000.

In theory yes, but a lot more money has been put into design piston engines. Rotaries have other issues too, like seals and shit. I actually don't know much about them either, but the design is just so much smarter, you can't help but be attracted.

Car now on carsales. Forgot to mention earlier, rego is good till Augest 09. -
I don't know anyone who's had the Xbox die on them, mine runs perfectly. Just don't buy one second hand, as mentioned by another poster the RRoD has been fixed, using that as an argument against Xbox is stupid because it simply doesn't happen any more. As for going online, it's piss. Take your blue cable, bang it into the back, turn xbox on.

R33 Non-turbo, With Factory Sunroof.
KezR33 replied to KezR33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
As per request, the dent in the roof. Photo makes it look horrible, but from even a slight distance its not even noticeable. -
Hey guys, up for sale is my 1993 Series 1 manual GTS coupe, white in colour with a factory sunroof. Has done 114000km. Modifications include; Has 17" SSA rims Has been lowered, unsure how much. Tinted rear windows. 3A Racing pod filter. Viper alarm system - immobilizer, remote locking, boot, hood and cabin sensors. Pioneer iPod head unit and Clarion speakers. Varex 4.5" cannon, this is the car here; http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=5oZRdu50aV4 Also has a new, bigger battery. That's all, nothing major, but it has all the essentials. The bad; fuel gauge doesn't work till the tank is half empty. Never bothered to get it checked out, as I just fill it when it starts working. Has a small dent in the roof between the windscreen and sunroof, thankfully due to its location its not noticeable unless you're looking for it. Car is probably worth $8500 to $9000 but as I hate selling cars privately and just want it gone I'm dropping it to $7500. Car has never missed a beat, and has been serviced every 5000km since I've bought it. Reason for sale; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Do...th-t246501.html I live in Victoria in Mt Eliza (near Frankston), and can be contact most afternoons on 0422 860 787 or just PM me here. Thanks, Kieran.

Considering you've never played GT5 (the prologue was a waste of money, don't even try to compare it) that's a pretty bold statement. Regardless, Forza 2 is still an awesome game. If you have a great PC, that's fine, but not all of us do, and the Xbox is a very cheap alternative. Blue ray is eh. I've never honestly noticed the difference in quality (at my mates), and besides my TV sucks so it wouldn't benefit me anyway. Playing DVDs will fry your machine 10x quicker than playing games on them too. As for creating a US account? The whole point of wanting an Aussie game is so that you have a good connection and don't lag. I'd rather not play at all than on a US server, as it just frustrates you and handicaps you so greatly you can ever actually compete.

No idea how to hack the Wii, but have you seen this video? http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw Pretty awesome if you ask me.

If you wanna play online, get an Xbox. When Call of Duty 4 first came out I'd jump on and find a good Aussie game instantly. Went around to my friends place where he had it for the PS3 and we'd spend 5min finding a game and then jumping in and out of games trying to find an Aussie one. No one has head sets on the PS3 either, everyone on xbox does. The online... navigator I guess you'd call it, on the xbox is better too. Being able to make friends, find friends, invite and view gamer info etc. I remember PS3 being a real pain in the ass for that sort of thing. Better games in my opinion too. Forza 2 is just as good as GT5, so you're not losing out there. Fallout 3 and Fable 2 just to name a couple of recent ones.

At least we don't have undercover cops in P plated R32s. I remember reading about one interstate in one of the import magazines.

Well, as you know, I have no license. Therefore, bye bye Skyline. Before I put it up for sale I want to at least get a compression test done on it. I know it's a good car, my mechanic knows its a good car, but no one else does. I figure having a report to post along side the ad could only help, especially considering the number of dodgy Skylines out there. Anyone know where I can get this done? I've seen reports posted on here people of done on car they're considering buying, but I figure I'll take the hard work out and do it before hand. Thanks.

Honestly, everyone I have spoken to think it was a pretty dumb act running in front of a car, especially one that had previously been doing "hoon acts" (he would've only heard my exhaust). The cow boy cop should be reprimanded for leading with his body, not his badge (which was in his back pocket btw), instead he'll get a bonus for convicting me.

My apologies for the size of this post, for reference, I drive an R33 series 1 non-turbo. Alright, so all the way back in April (a couple of months after I bought my car) I was out showing off my new car to some friends. As I leave I decide to show off a bit, nothing too major, just revved the car up, dropped the clutch and spun the wheels for a moment before accelerating away. I'd never visited my mates at their new house, so I didn't know the neighborhood. I drove around the corner and right into a dead end. I turn around and head back the way I came. As I'm coming back some (my mates had already gone inside) guy runs out in front of my car with his arm raised. He was big, and he was pissed. Now I'm not a violent person, I've never been a fight, been a victim of an armed robbery and I'm build like a rake. I slow right down to a crawl, and he steps to one side to approach my passenger window. I think "f**k this", I'm not sticking around to receive a verbal bashing, or worse a physical bashing, whatever his intent may be. So I floor it and try to get away. I had my clutch in, and forgot I was in second. So basically, I go nowhere fast. He grabs aggressively at my windscreen wipers (would've torn them off if they were on the other side of the car, instead they slid out of his hands), side mirror and anything else he can in attempt to single-handedly wrestle my car to the ground. So I piss off. Few hours later I get a call from the cops, I'm told to come to the station immediately. It turns out the guy who ran out in front of my car was a Senior Constable (although they didn't tell me this until after I admitted why I knew I had been called in). I do exactly as I'm told and am arrested, interviewed and charged with four charges; failure to have proper control of the vehicle, excessive noise and smoke, driving in a dangerous manner and reckless conduct endanger serious injury. I co-operate fully, am completely honest about the how ordeal (overly so) and even apologize in person to the Senior Constable. Six months later I receive a summons to court, I call a lawyer and go in to talk. Now I'd been worried about this for a while, but I never thought it was that serious. I thought I was going to get in trouble for a burnout (we probably wouldn't call it that, but in the eyes of the law, that's what it was) and nothing more. Turns out reckless conduct is a criminal offense, not a traffic offense, that means a criminal record. We get the police brief and it only gets worse. The Senior Constable's statement is filled with lies and exaggerations, he claims I accelerated at him, not past him when he stepped (he claims he had to jump) to one side. To make it worse, there's a second statement (which was filed two months after the incident) from another neighbor (I assume) claiming they saw the burnout. The description they use is... it's like something you'd see from a 1000hp muscle car at a drag show. Lines like "cloud of white smoke filled my house" "I was certain he wasn't going to stop till his tires blew" "car was going sideways". My lawyer was adamant though that the criminal charge would be dropped if we pled guilty to driving in a dangerous manner. Come court day though, she goes to negotiate with the prosecutor who agrees, but decides to make some calls (as there was an officer involved) before confirming. The police Sergeant response saying there is absolutely no way they're dropping the charge. We debate all day whether to fight it or plead guilty and hope for a non-conviction charge (no record), but the end result is always the same. My word vs. a Senior Constable, plus the fact that I plead guilty to doing a burnout minutes before the incident (and thus making me a hoon in the eyes of the court) was against me too. So I plead guilty, which means I plead guilty to everything written in the summary including that I'd accelerated (at a fast rate of speed) at an off duty police officer. I was very lucky. The Magistrate on the day (according to my lawyer) was a very reasonable man. I have no priors, one speeding ticket, I work part time, I study full time, my parents attended court, I am a well presented individual, my statement of being mugged (which proved that I felt threatened during the incident) and I had numerous character references from past and present employers. All this added up to give me a non-conviction charge, barely. He said he gave me the benefit of the doubt just this once. Plus a 6 months loss of license, and $750 fine. Not to mention the stress I've had since April (which was enhanced dramatically as I learnt more about what was really happening), the increase in insurance, the lawyer fees (another $1500) and that I'll be the victim of every cop to decides to check my plates if I ever drive a "hoon car" again. So why tell you all this? Basically the big lesson I learned from all this is just how much the government hates hoons. Almost everyone from the media, to the courts down to your average Joe cop hates you and will do you in at every possible opportunity. If you're arrested; get a lawyer before you talk. No matter how minor the incident or how nice and understanding they are, being completely honest just gives them more ammo to fire at you in court. Most importantly though; don't do anything wrong in the first place, no matter how minor. It's not worth it.
-
Before I actually post this, I want to ask some advice. The court case is over, everything is done, punishment has been dealt, is it still okay to post this? I remember in the past some people have posted stories like this only to have them removed because of potential legal involvement.

Be prepared to be dragged by shitters. I don't drag, and if I did I'd probably lose (being a novice driver and a non-turbo), but the amount of times some random POS has launched (if that's what you could call it) beside me at the lights is pretty disgraceful. I've never had a nice car try, it's only the wannabes or the Commodores with big HOLDEN sticks across the windscreen. I love my car, but I don't like the attention it draws. An example would be, driving through Frankston (probably a poor example) only the scummiest bastards will turn and look, everyone else ignores it. Never had an issue with the cops though. Another concern is about security. I have an awesome alarm system on my car, but that still doesn't stop random drunk import haters from throwing a bottle at as they walk by.
-
It's all a big scare. They're not out there to catch drunk drivers, just deter them. If they catch you then they've failed in their job. This latest "ring of steel" or whatever they're calling it is pretty effective though, lots of media coverage.

I dunno. The price does sound a bit low, but Supra engines are fing tough. I've read you can put up to like 400-450rwkw through them before you need to start upgrading engine internals.

R33 Gts Non Turbo 12k Ono
KezR33 replied to Cro_boy_Mario's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
My car knocks on start up too, it's nothing. It's like the air con is trying to open a vent (say feet) that's already open, and the gears just click over for a few seconds. -
Man, my Skyline has over 100,000rww and it's not even turbo charged.
