Superlap Timeattack Is Ago!
Superlap Australia replied to giant's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Bel has only just started playing with suspension in that last session they had other issues before that session they ran the 44. They were about to make more changes for the last session but the day had to end because of oil on the track. Remember the Bel car has under 300kw. -

Gary when I said I want to give you an hour of track time I didnt mean an hour straight. Open Class will be ( at this stage ) 3 20minute sessions which will equate to a total of 1 hour of track time. Cheers -Nathan -

I was with BEL for the majority of yesterday and that time was set when the racing line was just starting to dry up. Also they were never running at full throttle that car has some very serious pace in it. -

Gary so far the max amount of cars we are going to have on track at once is 12. I would profer 10 but it depends how many we have in each class etc and how long we run the sessions for. As it stands at the moment we have almost DOUBLE the amount of EOI forms as we have entry spots as we have been limited to 70 odd entries as we want to maximize the track time we give you guys. I want to give Open Class an hour on the track and Clubsprint Class 45minutes. As it stands Open Class may very well end up being an invite only affair for this first event. -

You are correct Duncan but my understanding is that all the cars that will be in that top 60% of the Open Class meaning the really fast guys/cars will all be purpose built and have proper cages as it is anyway. No Super sprint entrant needs a cage yet majority of the time the top guys all have them. You may still need a cage but untill cams get back to us I cant say yes or no for sure. -

Steve, I am hoping that you will not need the cage so as soon as I know I will let you know. From what I have been told so far you wont need one but I need to clarify that. Either way the class you want to run in next time will not require one -

Depending on what we get back from cams cages may not be required in either Class. BUT I can not say that for sure just yet as cams are rather slow at gertting me answers. -

Jason, As I explained to you on the phone after you had a go at me I NEVER said anything about retreads I said you were on rubbish semi slicks. NEVER did I mention re-treads. Please read what I have said next time before you ring and abuse me. -

The exact reason why I said "claims" Chris - No they will not have to pay for entry. -

I was speaking with one of the guys entering Open Class in a GTR who claims he does a 1:12 on the GP Circuit on rubbish semi's. I think times will be interesting on the day we may see some extremely fast times. -

Guys you have to realise that some of the rules are still not finalised as we are waiting to hear back from cams. We have put the cage ruling in Open Class INCASE that cams come back and say that you WILL need one. If they say you wont need one then the rule will be gone. But we would rather tell people they need them and then they not need them rather than say you dont need one then turn around when cams get back to us and say oh wait you do need a cage sorry. Untill cams get back to us ( we have been waiting since before the website went live which we got rushed into ) then the safety rules are still open so dont get to worked up over it. And if it does come down to the fact that you do need a cage it will be a cams call not ours. -

I have only got 3 more forms that are not on that list and I dont think that the people you speak of are either of those 3 so I would suggest they get them to me asap -

At this point in time no he would not be allowed to drive. No matter how good or bad the vehicle having a driver of his calibre behind the wheel is a massive advantage over most of the other people entering the Class. Clubsprint Class is designed for the people who want to go out and have some fun and some friendly competition and everybody likes to have the idea in there head that they have a chance at being at the top. With someone like john driving a car in that class that idea disappears especially considering the car he would have been driving so long as it was reliable on the day with John behind the wheel would wipe the floor with majority of the class. -

John you are a paid professional. As far as I am concerned you are not allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class. It would not be fair to the other drivers to let you drive a car for someone. You have to much of an advantage. Yes you have not been paid to drive in a competetive event but you are paid to teach people advanced driving. This along with me knowing how good of a driver you are puts you out of Clubsprint Class. The Rules & Regulations will not be completely finalised untill the Official entry form is gfiven to us by cams as they have more rules they want to add in. We also are still tweaking our own rules but at this point you will not be able to drive in Clubsprint Class. Cheers -Nathan -

Yes Wayne you can remove all of those. In regards to the Pro Driver thing Ian has informed me that NO Pro driver ( This being anyone who has been payed a salary or wage to drive in any competetive form of motorsport ) will be allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class. -

lol yea I know Clubsprint is all about everyday owners getting out there in their own cars tho whereas Open is more race team orientated. Anyway will see what happens in the morning because I was informed today that pro drivers are not allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class unless its their own vehicle. I am not sure how they plan on working that which is why I am having that meeting tomorrow -

With the drivier thing we are going to sit down tomorrow and have a chat. For Open Class its anything goes whatever you want but for Clubsprint we are going for no Pro Drivers. I will have to talk to the guys and decide John's fate on the Clubsprint entry haha. Mark & Russell ( giant ) are yet to get their R32 on track with its proper tuned setup all the way around QR as they were still not finished at their last outing before going to Japan so it will be interesting I think they headed out there on the weekend. Also from what I have heard their new R34 is aiming to be faster than John bowe's time at Wakefield which means a low 58 not sure if they want to do that time on semis or full slicks tho. Could be very interesting. -

Hi John, That should be fine I will double check it tomorrow but I dont see it being an issue as onlu Clubsprint cars will be on the track with each other same for Open Class. -Nathan -

The only thing with your above questions I have an issue with is the engine placement. The vehicles must retain the original look of the vehicle from the factory ( obviously wide body kits etc are fine ) This goes for the inside of the car aswell. So you can move the engine back by slightly modifying the fire wall but you can not mid mount the engine or anything that crazy. Hope this answered your questions. Cheers -Nathan
