  1. Look locally first and if you don't find any that suits what you want then start looking at importing. 15k for a GTR, expect to put in at the very least another $5000 to get the car fixed up. No real advantage to a later model mainly just not being as old as a 1989 model. As for problems, just generally wear and tear on a 18+ year old performance car, also coil packs, AFM's and o2 sensors seem to be pretty common problems. Rebuilt would be the way to go if the work has been done by a workshop that know their way around skylines, and make sure they have all receipts for the work done. I have been insured by both JustCars and Shannon's and both have been around $2000 a year with a $1500 excess (JustCars )and $900 (Shannons). My car was on the boat to Australia while I was still on my p plates and got the car not long after I had turned 20. I haven't had any problems in nearly 1.5 years of owning the car.
  2. Going to be heading down to the dyno day on the 12th. Anyone else keen to go for a look?
  3. What the hell is a sleep in. Between getting up at 6 every morning for work and the neighbors chickens going off there heads this morning at 6:15 I don't get to sleep in. If my ankle wasn't so sore I would of jumped the fence and ended up eating chicken for lunch lol
  4. Won't be getting the 32 out today. Destroyed my ankle playing touch footy yesterday
  5. Its all good BOZ another time
  6. Just going for a little drive and then go somewhere for lunch nothing too crazy. That's if the weather is good
  7. Anybody still keen for a drive on Sunday? Poor vspec hasn't been for a drive in almost 3 weeks
  8. Your not talking about me are you nick? OP my 32 GTR was on the boat on its way to Australia before I was off my p's. I had a decent deposit saved up and enough money for insurance, any repairs that needed to be done and to do a major service (all belts, plugs and all fluids) I had been to the bank and my loan was pre approved and just had to wait until I was off my p plates until they would give me the money. Expect to pay between $1500 to $2000+ a year for insurance I have only ever had one major problem with mine in over a year of owning it and that was with the gearbox and it was fixed under warranty. I used mine as a daily for the first 8 months of owning it and never had any problems. They can be very reliable if they have been well maintained. Mine is completely stock besides the NISMO turbo back exhaust and it still has the factory boost restrictor fitted. If you do by one that has had a bit of work done to it make sure the work has been done by a well know shop with a good reputation and the owner has receipts for the work that has been done. End of the day yes they can be reliable if you find a good one and don't regreat buying it one bit. The GTR is my first car aswell. They are a good car to buy, but you need to be a sensible driver and not wanting to race everyone on the street. Every time I get the 32 out the shed now (it's no longer my daily) for a drive I get at least one person asking me to race and I just let them speed off from the lights and I just keep driving normally. Treat the GTR with The respect it deserves and you will be fine. If your still serious about buying one of these cars and no one in Brisbane will take you for a spin in theirs next time I am in Brisbane in the GTR I can take you for a spin ( no idea when i will be down there next) or if you want to make the trip up to toowoomba one weekend i could take you for a spin
  9. Have you looked on Yahoo Japan? I managed to get a radio off there a few months ago for mine in almost perfect condition just a bit of wear on the 1,2,3 buttons. Took me about 2 months of checking Yahoo Japan every couple of day to find one. I actually payed more for the cassette player then I did for the cd player I put in the car when I first got it.
  10. True, I haven't been to the show since I was in grade 3/4 and no real desire to. Work public holiday and get a free day off in July for the Nissan time attack day at QR= WINNING
