  1. ok help where do i start, R33GTR had; power FC, pods, exhaust, camgears....great fun, loose traction a bit, nice low down power wanted more power, now im running; big 115 FMIC, LINK G4 no AFM's, 770, profect b, custom dumps, nismo pump, and one of the most talked about subject 2860-5's, everything new. 320awkw, tuned for torque, 7200 RPM limit, 18lbs. got the car back and really miss my low down power. i realise these turbos a more for mid-upper top end power now, but i didnt think they would be this laggy, i think now i should have gone for the -7's? dam questions; turbos are making the 'cho cho noise' the whole time, not on deaceleration, or holding throttle, like my old ones(standard) did, but now when accelerating, sounds like they are fighting each other, irratating. engine light on, on full boost ticking noise from turbos when boost starts to come on (internal wastegates?) i know these turbos are for around 350-400AWKW, but i dont want to crank the boost, destroy the engine but the car feels so lifeless, will uping boost give me a lil more low down power? or go to the -7's? good news which i will post in gearbox seaction, HKS twin plate, light weight flywheel, real easy to use, no stalling easy as! when i started these mods about 1 year ago didnt know anything about modding these cars, so went on my mechanics advice, so please no lectures my mechanic is 550km away so any help would be great on the noises cheers
  2. oh yeah have stock motor too, running 18lbs, 7200rpm limit, 310AWKW if this helps.......
  3. im running -5's, i went for a LINK G4 no AFM's, my power FC AFM's didnt like going over 300AWKW? if this helps, may have just been my tuner?
  4. tomorrow is nearlly here, my R33 has been gone for 10 months getting a small house deposit worth of mods done to it when she left me was running 240AWKW, now 18lbs of boost later 310AWKW its christmas tomorrow, and santa sled will be going sideways! as you can see im excited
  5. hey there, yeah ive read it, everyone has a pretty varied opinion, i guess it comes down to driving style, speed on track, amount of power, brake fluid etc....and the way the person driving the car likes the feel/performance of the different brakes.....ha
  6. hey there just reading the sticky on brakes, R33gtr with standard brakes, about 310awkw, what pads should i use for street, a wee bit of track, i see a few good coments about 'performance friction carbon metellic'? with this power should i start thinking about upgrading brake hoses? thanks
  7. ha, thanks heaps
  8. hey thanks for the advice, might just leave it at 18lbs till i get used to the power, and can afford a rebuild!!!!
  9. hey sorry big ol' 2860-5.....and usual upgrades cheers
  10. hey there my GTR has a LINK G4, no AFM's, profect B.......just a question my car has the profect set on 15lbs and 18lbs, my mechanic is going to do the 'cold start' next week, i asked him if he could set the profect to 20lbs instead of 18lbs, he hasnt mapped it over 18lbs will it have to go on the dyno to set the cold start, and would it have to go back on the dyno to map it to 20lbs? im guessing yes? am i asking a bit much of my standard internals (RB26) to run at 20lbs? rev limit set to 7400RPM, engine mint compression, no knocks etc....... cheers
  11. hey there can someone help me, my R33 GTR is still at the mechanics, and he has gone away ....i need to get a measurement of the boot area if anyone could help me, dont laugh but i need to see if our babys pram will fit cheers robbie
  12. my R33 GTR did the samething after the tyre guys put the wrong size profile tyres on the front (had 30's on the rear, they put 40's on the front), my cars ATTESA has never really recovered????
  13. hey there, i had tomeis, they looked pretty amazing quality, but they didnt fit up to my 2860-5, i had to get custom made for my GTR....... hope this helps???????
  14. go for the 2 handfulls of brown sugar in the fuel tank, my car went real quick
  15. hey all, roughly what boost can i run my standard head gasket too? did a wee search 19lbs? RB26 R33 cheers
  16. i heard about 6-7 years back you could buy a device that you attach to your gearbox so when you change gear it makes the BOV sound for non turbo cars, maybe by now they the same thing for gates, then you wouldnt have to spend heaps of coin, and maybe lose power????
  17. ok, will do cheers for advice robbie
  18. yeah the -7 are the same/similar to the GT SS...... most people say if you want torque/response go the GT SS, i dont know how much torque the GT SS turbos on my set up would produce, i would be keen to find out, i know they would have better response, but torque? but dam i spent alot to get these beast's to work, i think looking back on it i would have gone GT SS, just the mods/gaskets etc for the garrets gets expensive, and the supports to make them work is alot of coin......to get the full potential out of them you really want to go 20lbs+ and then you need to mod oil pump, sump, returns, prob go forged god the list goes on..... robbie
  19. hmmm correct me if im wrong, but if my max torque figure is starting at 3800rpm wouldnt that mean that they are running at full boost? robbie
  20. hey bakes what i have read, is the GTSS turbos will/are more streetable, more responsive, but when you want to go higher then about 330AWKW the 2860-5 are the way to go (cue. correct me if im wrong?) have to ask someone else about them being as responsive as standard, but i would think you would loose a bit of response due to the fact these turbos are larger (cue. correct me if im wrong?)... CS net and yes i was quite surprised with the torque, i know the new G4 Link is really tune-able, i just told my tuner to go for max torque, i wasnt searching for mega KW's hope this is some help...... cheders robbie
  21. hey there, as of the other day update the final figures of my GTR mods (2860-5, G4 Link, injectors, pump, 115mm FMIC, profect B, HKS twin, light weight fly etc etc i didnt want huge KW, torque was what i wanted, and torque is what santa bought me 15lbs 240AWKW 18lbs 308AWKW torque 855 n/m from 3800-7400RPM (redline) this was a nice safe tune too....... this was a 8 month ordeal, that has cost me a fortune, would like to thank everyone, especially moderators, SKid etc for all the advice, has been really helpfull (shit this sounds like a oscar award speach! ) tihs forum is bloody great! cheers robbie
  22. hey there, just wondering if you guys could help me, i see in the sticky you can import cars into your country that are 15 years old, also australia is a bit more stricter on modifications then new zealand, which is quite relaxed (no wonder we have so many boy racers killing themselves) on modifications. i have a 1998 R33 GTR that i was thinking about bringing with me from nz, i have modified it, but tryed to keep it looking standard(ish) the exhaust has no cat, which i realise it needs one, it has a aftermarket FMIC, but looks standard, heatshields on the 2860s, plumbback BOV, no external wastegates, pod filters (do these need to be attached to chassis?) or inclosed in a box? it has aftermarket pipping for the garretts......can you guys please tell me what i can/cant have and what they look out for...... cheers robbie
  23. hey thanks for the reply..... yeah been waiting bout 8 months to get it back, still have a bit more to pay so will get back to ya on how it drives, maybe bout 2019 ha........
  24. ..........ended up making 310AWKW on 17.5lbs of boost, havent got the torque figures, but meant to be getting freaky at about 3000 RPM, mechanic said 'pretty insane' cheers robbie
  25. hey, still on the dyno but will post soon im actually in NZ, but the guy who is doing the tuning is real well known! had a look on rb26 section, some where similar to mine/some where well higher, i did tell him to keep it on the safe side?
