R33 Bilstein Or Similar Suspension - Sk Setup Etc
N-DAWG replied to nigelswazi's topic in Wanted to Buy
Hey mate, GTS or GTSt? Do you know if R34 GT Sedan Suspension would be suitable? I've already got a good price lined up for a set of JIC Coilovers which is why I'm looking at selling my current set up. 30mm Lowered King Springs and KYB Shocks. My mechanic tells me they're eyelet connections. Done 20,000kms on them, no track work, recent wheel allignment at Fulcrum confirms that they're all in proper working condition. PM me if interested Cheers Nathan -
[nsw] Wtb: R32 Used Stock Suspension (springs/struts), Hicas Bar
N-DAWG replied to GGGTS4's topic in Wanted to Buy
Do you know if R34 GT Sedan Suspension will work? I've got King Springs 30mm lowered front and rear, and KYB Shocks done around 20,000kms of street driving, no track work, checked this week when I had wheel alignment done by Fulcrum. My mechanic tells me they're eyelet connections... I'm keen to sell as I've been given a hard to refuse offer on Coilovers. -
Hey Guys, I've seen for sales allowed in the Naturally Aspirated previously so I thought I'll start here to see if there's any interest. If this isn't ok, mods please let me know I've been given a too-good-to-resist price on a new set of JIC Coilovers, unfortunately as usual money isn't my friend.. soooo I'm hoping I can see if anyone is interested in what I have currently: KYB Shock Absorbers Front and Rear King Springs (30mm) Front and Rear Currently on a R34 25GT Sedan (4 Door Love). Both shocks and springs have done approximately 5,000kms in it's N/A Life, and almost 15,000kms in its TurboCharged Life. No track work, daily driven with the occasionaly spirited drive. My mechanic tells me they're eyelets front and rear, I'm not sure if this is also suitable for R34 25GT Coupe? or other model Skylines? Yours to research. Hoping that I can get $600 Neg., pick up from Brisbane preferred, but I can post out at buyers cost or come to a deal. I've had the wheel alignment done this week by Fulcrum after having new tyres fitted, they checked the suspension and didn't find any problems. If anyone wants the shocks or springs separately, then I'm fine with that, so long as I have a deal to be able to sell them both. Suspension is still on the car, I'm only planning on upgrading based on a sale and I would need up to a week to have the parts removed first. Feel free to contact me by PM Cheers, Nathan

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
N-DAWG replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers for the help guys! I'm in Brisbane and the place I'll be getting these from is in NSW, so it's a bit hard to get a trial fit... I don't mind the staggered look, main concern is ensuring fitment with the Nissan 4 Pots and staying within the guards without any modifications. -

Cara (MissR34) may be able to help with the variable length manifold solenoid that you speak of... reason I suspect so is because she is running a PowerFC on her R34 RB25DE NEO. Sounds good so far did your power curve taper off after 5500 RPM or is the power at 6500RPM your peak power? Well done doing all the work yourself, saves a hell of a lot in labour costs! Got pics of the engine bay? I'll eventually get around to getting another power run done. There's been GReddy EBC, Gearbox Rebuild and Catback Upgrade since the last power run so hopefully should see some improvement. -

I've been running 10-12 daily without probs.. but lately I've been running 7PSI due to increased travelling and ridiculously priced BP Ultimate To answer your question, intercoolers will have to some to degree a pressure drop. I'm using a cheap intercooler, I'm getting around 2PSI pressure drop across the intercooler (according to my mechanic). Cooler are is more dense meaning there is more air in a smaller space. Air+fuel+Spark = Power. More air = more power. With a DE+t the FMIC isn't so much about making more power, but keeping the air as cool as possible so as to reduce Intake air temperature so that excess heat in the combustion chamber is reduced preventing engine damage and melting pistons. Use a FMIC, enclose that pod filter (cold air feed will help also), and ACL Heatshield over the exhaust manifold and turbo helps a LOT with keeping heat out of otherwise too-hot-to-touch intake pipe to the throttle body. The key to a good DE+t set up is: A good tune to stave of engine knock and detonation - Make sure your tuner knows what he's doing to get the best of both worlds. Advancing timing will make more power and kill the engine quickly. Retarding timing will make less power, more reliably. Retarding timing too much can retain excessive heat in the combustion chamber which can also damage the engine. Cooling - Particularly on R34 NEO's DE+t's run hotter. An oil cooler is a must on a DE NEO! After I had my stepper motor gauges hooked up I was shocked at how high the oil temps were getting! In summer doing motorway driving 110c was not uncommon! Now with the oil cooler I've dropped it 10-20c, and now with winter coming close and the "QLD" weather getting a bit cooler.. 80-90c is what I'm getting daily. Use a good quality oil suited for your engine set up. My mechanic recommends and uses Castrol Edge Sport 10W60 in my car. I'm looking to try a different oil though on my next service as I'm going to take it to ERD and I'll see how it goes with the royal purple. Lastly, the car isn't going to survive on stock internals if it's flogged everywhere day in day out.. but I think that's obvious I read a good article in Zoom Magazine on N/A+t Conversions. I'll get that uploaded. Meanwhile check out the N/A+t Power Results Thread to have an idea of what to expect

The heatshielding is ACL Heatshield.. not the cheapest stuff but it is excellent! eliminated around 80% of my heatsoak issues It can be shaped to suit your application as well. http://www.aclperformance.com.au/prod_heatshield.htm If only money was my friend right now....

No worries mate, glad I could help

-
Also check that the vacuum line from the airbox to the butterfly valve solenoid isn't blocked off if you have fitted a pod filter. in general check the vacuum gallery. I posted in a thread somewhere on here a diagram, i'll see if I can find it later, but that has also been known to have similar symptoms if it is blocked.

Also spotted a stock looking White R34 GTT Coupe on Kessels Rd.. nice clean ride!

Spotted on I think Friday night.. orange R32 with Marvin The Martian plates at Alex Hills. Also spotted a R34 4 Door boost it past me on Mt Gravatt Capalaba Road (pretty sure it was 4Door, taillights from what I could see looked like 4 door).. would have caught up but not worth it on that road during holiday season lol Then afterwards spotted another silver R34 on Dawson/Newham Rd lights, and another 4 Door R34 was going past opposite direction on Newham.. all within a couple of minutes lol

oh, but "Every K Over Is A Killer"!! Or so they say... Speed cameras catching people doing minuscule amounts over the limit isn't making a big deal of difference to the incidents that occur on the roads. In Brisbane they are doing the "Distracted Drivers are Dangerous Drivers" Campaign.. or whatever its called.. point is, bringing so much focus on the speed being travelled for most motorists is taking away focus from the road and what's going on around them. Now I know a lot of people are going to say oh I can maintain my speed easily it's not that big a deal to glance every now and then. That's good, but some people on the roads are bad enough at focusing on driving properly, we don't need them slowing everything down to a stupid speed while they're busy making sure the speedo's below the limit. If there was a greater police presence on the roads, then maybe there'll be less SS Commodore Ute's flying down residential roads at wayyyy excessive speeds! and I'm not making a generalisation either here, I'm talking from an experience I had a few months ago. Driving in East Brisbane one day, taking my time on a sunday wasn't in a hurry.. thank goodness cause if I turned into that street at a "usual driving speed" I'd have been wiped out and probably down the other end of the road from the speed this ute was travelling!! All I can tell you is that it sounded like a V8, and was purple! I can't even say for sure if it was a Commo or not! These are the types of drivers that they need to be pulled into line, and to do that effectively they need a greater police presence to "stop" them from driving in that manner, not suprise them with a fine in the mail and in the mean time someone COULD get killed! Show a presence, and if they act in such a manner then they should suffer the consequences. I'd like to see less drivers that feel the need to just jump in front of me on multi-lane roads without indicating! or drive around with their high beams on for no particular reason. Or the ones that don't know which lane they want to drive in so they drive a bit in both. or decide that they don't want to be in the right turn only lane and merge lanes half way around the turn into Garden City from Logan Road nearly driving into me! or the guy that doesn't check his blind spot when merging into my lane on the M1, indicating after he starts merging! lucky there was no one in the lane next to me or that would have been a fatal accident, and there was no speeding involved in that one! Better driver training programs (particularly for young people starting to drive), a greater police presence, and much better quality roads, is the key to reducing accidents and fatalities on the roads. It's about time the Government stops focusing so narrow mindfully on speeding.
