haha yea - well the end damage was acctually 3 bent con rods - a bent crank - 4 bent valves - a hair line crack in my head so i got a new crank - new con rods - new head - and new valves to a total of $3000 - woohoo!! and thanx for all the advice guys!! - i bet there was a million better ways to go about doing this, new engine, diffrent mechanic wtvr it is but i dont want to hear about it now - lol - im just going to cop it and learn from it!!

well i just spoke to the Mechanic, i have bent 2 con rods the crank and a valve - i really out did myself this time! - hes going to give me specific prices soon - LAME!

Yea your right SECURITY - i seriously CBF going through the bother of finding a new engine...i like the one i have now. I knew it was going to be expensive to fix. - Thanx Modena - i just dropped it off at hills motor sport now...hes going to give me a ring in a few days to let me know what the damage is...ill keep you all posted!

yea man i know what you mean...i got quotes from a few mech's....seriously...half of them didn't seem to know shit all, they were saying stuff that wasnt even related to the fact that my car sucked up water...the other half were like - get a new engine....now personaly i don't want to get a new engine because, frankly, engines are taken out of cars for a reason...what ever the reason may be...i dont know what kind of condition the engine could be in...for all i know it could have 150,000 kms on it....as for the rb30 convertion....i would seriously love to...but 3k is all i got...and i NEED a car right now...i cant afford to go one more day without it - unfortunaly im stuck between a hard place and a overpriced mechanic...and after all the bullshit and hassel and WORRY of this whole thing...i dont care anymore....atlease i know that hills motorsport will do a good job and put a 3 months warrenty on the repairs....even if it is rediculaously overpriced.... maby if i had time i would have shoped around for a few weeks and pin a few mechanics quotes together....but between work and uni i dont have time anyway...we can all take something from this.....skylines dont swim....

well i got a RB25 already its just brokded...its cheaper to fix it then buying a new engine, that i don't know anything about, and getting the mech to take the old one out and put the new one in...as for the RB26....hmmm

i just drained the oil and flushed with diesel then flushed the remanding diesel with oil and filled her up again, new oil filter and shes still knocking...so i have new spark plugs and new oil with filter and its still knocking...the guy at Hills Motor Sport (let me know if you guys have heard of him, i have had a few dealings with him and i recon hes a pretty good mechanic...has about 1000 skylines out the front every time i go) said that he has lots of ppl come in with the same story as i have and he said that i most probably will have bent the crank and or bent the con rods...or maby even split a piston head. either way he said he would fix it for me...worst case scenario he will charge me $3000 max and he said if its not as serious as he thinks he will charge me less accordingly. what you guys think...atm i really don't give a shit how much it costs because i just want my car back in working order but that's just my short sightedness kicking in lol off cause i care how much it cost its just i love my car too much

thanks eeiko321...unfortunately i think i have bent a con rod....because i have cleaned all the cylinders out and i have got new spark plugs and it still knocks....there i water in my oil but that isn't going to make my engine knock...and the knocks are progressive with the revs....fark man im spewing atm....its going to cost me a fortune to get it back to working order....I'm happy for some more advice/experiences/ideas!! - anything to give me more hope...but atm im pretty sure im going to have to replace at least 1 con rod and hopefully it didn't damage the block whilst it was at it...and plus im hoping it didnt stuff the crank whilst it was at it...besides the knocking the engine runs surprisingly smooth..considering whats happened inside maby there is hope yet! taking it to the shop tomorrow

8-10 inches - Im guessing tho, because i remember seeing water washed up over the bonnet, meaning that it easily was higher then the front mounts clearance from the ground and when the car stopped i knew in my head exactly what happened...an i freaked so i didn't really go and check.

just changed the spark plugs...and the noise is still there...i have def bent something....off to the workshop! - god i hope it doesn't cost me to much :blink:

yea but do you know if the water actually got into your engine...like i have water in my cams!! and water in the cylinders!! anyway i was up till about 4 this morning taking of my throttle body and intake manifold (to get to a Non-turbo coil pack and spark plug bay is a bitch and a half because the intake goes over the coil pack cover.) anyywayy i took all the coil packs out and spark plugs... (they were black) and turned the engine over a few times...lots of shit spat out as expected...then i put her all back together and started it up but the knock is still there..... now my question is...when i turned the engine over with all the spark plugs out i didn't hear any tapping or metal on metal noises...does this mean that the pistons arnt hitting any valves?? and that the knocking noise is just one of the cylinders not firing??

is it possible that water got into one of my cylinders and isn't allowing the spark plug to fire?? hence why ther is knocking noise??? and if i do have a bent con rod or valve or wtvr would i still be able to start the engine??

Well your all thinking - he crashed his car...... haha sorry to disappoint but I'm an idiot in another way, my car has a C.A.I in the bottom left of my front mount and tonight I was at a wedding reception when it started absolutely pissing down rain....most of you would have already guessed what happens next.....C.A.I + Rain = f**ked engine my car was parked on the top of a 4 story car park and I didn't particularly want to leave it up the top in that kind of weather (paranoid since my insurance excess is 3000 due to me lowering my yearly premium) anyywayyyy i went out and was going down the ramp from the top level to the undercover level bellow when at the bottom of the ramp there was flooding and I didn’t notice since water was falling from every direction of the sky!! and so the front of my car plowed through about 10000000 L of water ...and next thing i know my car is coughing and spluttering and then stalls....took me a few minutes to start it up again but the damage was already done...the car idles....but has savage knocking, indicating most probably 1 or 2 bent valves..... Anyway thought I would share my night with you all!! Chuck any ideas on what else might have happened...anyone have any similar experiences?.......I’m taking a wild guess of around 1000 buks to fix?? Anyway give us your thoughts!
