Anyone tried Project Mu 999, for track work? Currently running ProjectMu hc16-03.

Enjoy it and don't forget to shoot a video with the mid pipe roar! Plonk your Videocam on the road behind the car then launch it! Should be quite sexy! Awaiting your video...

Why Am I Getting A "crunch" Noise When Shifting 2Nd To 3Rd?
maxzugkraft replied to maxzugkraft's topic in R35 GTR
Hi Martin, am I using your 2009 Renew Tune, currently? Also, the "noise" doesn't come all the time. Hard to record, but I'll try. It lasts for about half a second, just before 3rd gear engages. And sounds like - "k r k r k r k r k r k r k r k r k shhaarrk " !!! Hey Wardski, the car has been pretty good. Don't wanna drop the oil pan yet as i've just put in the expensive trans oil 3 months ago. Thanks for your thoughts. I hope you are right about the diff bind. Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR, guys... .....and ever increasing reliable power and torque!!!!! -
Why Am I Getting A "crunch" Noise When Shifting 2Nd To 3Rd?
maxzugkraft replied to maxzugkraft's topic in R35 GTR
Thanks guys. Its good to know that it doesn't sound serious. Although, being so loud, it doesn't give me a good feeling, mechanically. Why only 2nd to 3rd and not other gears? If it's diff related, shouldn't it be any gear? Hi Martin: How can I tell if it's some problem with the gear stops, circlips, fasteners or piston clips/seals? What symptoms should I look for? By the way, your Cobb tune is bloody awesome: I was doing a drag (no launch, just plant foot) yesterday with a friend's stock MY2012, and my 2009 fully kept up with it to about 120kmh then started to slowly creep further beyond that. I wonder if it would beat it by much more if we had kept pushing towards 200kmh! Good work, mate! -
I've got my 2009 from new, as daily driver & doing 2-3 track days a year. Has done 53,000kms now, with Custom Willall Cobb tune by Martin, LC5, HKS mid pipe and Willall Lite Trans fluid. Has been a beautiful car to drive. Clutch relearned. CC= +1, TP= -1. Started noticing a "groan" noise ("oarkk") about 1 month after I changed to the Willall Fluid (2months ago). Only happens between 2nd and 3rd gear. Intermittent usually, when car is cold. But, today it happened when fully hot in a roundabout going "clockwise", whilst accelerating moderately hard. It sounded like gears clashing ("crunch") when changing gears inaccurately in a manual stick shift. Tried to reproduce it but couldn't. This is the 2nd time it has happened when lateral G force is associated. ?coincidence? Anyone experience this? My feeling is that the "groan" noise has progressed to the "crunch" noise. Car still drives normally, and out of warranty. Is this serious? Thank you all in advance.

Interesting Read On Additives In E85 Causing Injector Blockage
maxzugkraft replied to domino_z's topic in R35 GTR
I see. Would you recommend these injectors: TSM Pro 1050? Seems to have very good spray pattern: http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/78017-must-see-injector-spray-patterns/ -

Do you need new 1000cc injectors and air filter kit to run e85? -
Thanks for the replies guys! Anyway, I sent the photos to Project Mu distributor in Queensland and they think it should be good for another 2 track days. The expert guy, Jason, said the pitting and micro cracks in the front pads are normal for a pad like that after track days. I'm so glad I don't have to bin them. Will continue with them till next year. I'm actually very happy with their grip and feel. Great pads the H16-03.

That's reassuring! So is LC5 with R-R-Off OK to shoot? Never tried a 4000+ rpm launch before.
-
Hey Dom - Yup, that's the one - the Kansai diffuser fins. I thought you had installed that (saw your NAGTROC post). Apart from the the good looks, the diffuser fins should extend the turbulent wake further behind the car at high speed, therefore reducing accumulation of exhaust output onto the rear face of the car. It should therefore reduce drag and improve rear downforce in conjunction with the rear upper spoiler.
-
Condition of transmission is good. It's only done 2x launches when it was stock standard ecu. Never dared to launch it after that. Hopefully all good, fingers crossed.

I was on cc=2 and tp = 0 before. I've just dialled down cc to 1. Will see what happens. Having had the Willall etune recently with more power, I was hesitant to do that as I don't want any clutch slip. Hope cc=1 is enough clutch pressure. Whadya reckon, Martin?
-
Sorry off-topic. Hey Domino, how did you install your rear diffuser fins? Did you have to drill the carbon panel under the car? I like the look and should reduce soot on the back of the car. Did you find any difference? Thanks.

I'm getting a sound - like a low chirp/groan sound - when I change up (auto/manual) from 2nd to 3rd gear. Recently changed my trans oil to Willall Lite when I noticed it. Did not have it with OEM trans oil. Happens usually when cold, but happened today when it was hot too. So far, it's happened 3 to 4times in total. Is this a bad sign? Has anyone had this problem? Does it need to be corrected? Thanks guys! 2009 R35, Willall Cobb Custom tune, WR35TML, HKS Midpipe.

Daayyum! I'm tied up on the 22nd Dec. Will have to join u guys next run!
-
Thanks Martin. I can see your screenshot now. Now I can use full power without holding back! Can't wait to get back on the track! Hope to see lap times plummet. Good job. Cheers!
-
Thanks Martin. I can't see your picture. There is a question mark instead. Will this tune work for warmer weather? 25-28deg C? Bear in mind the log was done at 15 deg C ambient temp. Is it running too rich, as I'm getting a lot more black soot on back now.
-
OK, will do that. How hard do I have to push it? And which gears?
-
Nice to know, Duncan. Just downloaded it from Martin. Can't wait to check it out tonight - supposedly 345 awkw!!! Wonder if I can feel it from a Stage 2 Cobb OTS?

What are your opinions on Project Mu H16-03 race pads. Apparently used by the V8 Supercars. Before these I used Endless MX72 which were cracking and lifting from their backing plates. These Project Mu's have only had 3 track days - 2x Sandown and 1x Phillip Is. Here's what they look like after Sandown a couple of days ago! Are they still usable? Thanks Snowman. I've got Martin sending me one of his tunes. Hey, Martin, how much bhp at the wheels can I expect from that tune?
-
Does that meant if I get a track-oriented tune, it would generate less power? Because it would have to dial down the timing or boost to cope with heat. Would larger injectors to fix this?
-
Thing is, it doesn't do it when I drive on the road. The Stage 2 is the Off-the-shelf map that came with the Cobb, which I thought was conservative. What parameters should I log? Thanks for the reply, Martin. I received your Trans Fluid 35TML last week and filled it up before Sandown. Goes nicely.

Hi Guys, I got a Cobb and have been using Stage 2 & LC5 for my ADM2009 on the road since. Great burst of power and improved drivability. (I'm on 98RON Shell vPower, HKS res midpipe, K&N air filter element) I took it to Phillip Is (18 deg C) and Sandown yesterday (23 deg C). I noticed flashing of the boost gauge - which I think means that there is "knocking". This usually happens after the 3rd or 4th lap, especially if I hit the rev limiter. Sometimes it occurs even at 5000rpm in 2nd gear and tends to linger for about 5 to 10 seconds. I feel the car is not as fast as it normally is. How do I fix this? Is this BAD for the engine? Thanks in advance.

So, what did you get to replace your R35? MY2012? or LP570-4?
