The reason it peaked to 8 amps then stopped is because the battery was dead flat. it pulse charges until it has more charge. Thats normal.

Jim Berry won't rebuild it for $250.. Try 600.. (still a lot cheaper than buying one new off him) So still a good deal..

Audi dealership is the best option... They have up to date information on all Audi's. They will carry out campaign's (recalls) that you don't even know about until you book in for a service. Software updates usually.. All the technicians have a lot of experience on audi's so they wont butcher your connectors or over tighten the fragile aluminum sump.. Oh and have you ever tried to take off the engine cover on the A3 2.0t ? (assuming your mate's isn't the 1.8t) 90% of people who haven't done it before will break it.. PS.. I'm completely biased because i work for an Audi dealer. I also realize that dealers are very expensive but if your mate can afford to buy an Audi in the first place i assume he can afford to pay for servicing. Oh and NismoR31Jet is right about voiding warranty due to not following correct servicing procedures..

The center is not sealed.. Uses the same oil as the rest of the diff.. You can change the oil to a thicker oil but it doesn't last.

So you can whore another thread no doubt...
