    I have always used Meguiars fine cut cleaner (wash, fine cut, glaze and wax actually) - what exactly is the 'Scratch-X'?? Also, not many many maunfacturers put clear coat on their wing mirrors, necessitating extra care when cleaning.

    AON Risk Services (brokers). By far and away the best quote I got from anywhere and no nasty fine print. They are not as small and dodgy as they sound, they specialise in commercial insurance. BTW 33t, rating 1, average risk suburb in Brisbane = way less than a grand with a couple hundred for the excess.

    As a 'rule of thumb' there are not too many 1000hp skylines around. The 30% general number is one that is easy to work out and possibly should be seen as a minimum number for loss in a drivetrain (because there is always going to some loss) - not as an extreme maximum number that is exponential or without limit ( in obvisiously extreme or high horse power applications).

    I think Neil (old bastard?) has a harness in his 4 door - anchored back to the child seat restraint. Seem to remember him saying it was only good (read legal) for track use, and for CAMS certification that the harness had to go the child bolts... Correct me....

    I don't know about actual calculations to work this out for a specific car. However, as a rule of thumb, 30% seems to be the number generally allowed for loss in a drivetrain.

    Unfortunately the insurance companies don't really care how many doors you have....although judging by peoples responses on some insurance threads in here, I got an excellent deal (or they are paying way too much!).

    The four door is marginally heavier, like 30kg or thereabouts. This is a way small penalty to pay for the extra conveniance of increased access (yeah, yeah, dosen't look as cool, rah, rah - I have people in the back all the time).     BTW I used Meguiers professional fine cut cleaner (the same stuff I use on the paint). Worked well....

    How do you get the front cover off? The short answer is 'you don't'. They are sealed and if you can actually get them open by removing the gooey gunk, you will never get them back together again.

    Don't see that it would be problem, you can get aftermarket kits to do this. Perfectrun have an 'eastbear' one for a mere $186.... over here I would also be interested in any pointers on a DIY jobbie, let us know how you go.

    Not going to argue the value of a good ABS system, however some of the early systems were a bit scary - as in not very well calibrated (especially for OZ conditions). I know this first hand from some of the old company cars I used to beat about in during the early nineties (in the days of my youth...sigh). My speedskyzer does not have ABS, is the system three channel or four channel, who has it, and used it? How effective is it?
