Guy across the road had a 4WD. Held it on redline one day (who knows why) for about 10 minutes in the driveway and then BOOOOOOM it literally sounded like a gun shot. Heaps of smoke pouring out and stuff... was crazy! Must had done some serious engine damage. Didn't see that 4WD after that ever again. But they used to love revving their cars. They warmed up their cars by revving it to redline each morning. They had a small Charade that used to fill the street with blue smoke when they took off. They also owned a 240z... well, it was 2 240z's welded together at the chassis. Then he had a crash. Then the insurance company found out. Then the cops found out. Wasn't good.
Didn't Writeoff spin a bearing after attempting a 7000rpm launch? Or was that someone else? I remember reading it on here.
I don't dare to take the car over 2800rpm while oil temp is under 70.
Fishpaste, did you notice a decrease in oil pressure when this happend? Or did you just hear the sound of the spun bearing clapping away? Usually when you spin a bearing, you basically lose all oil pressue...
