  1. Mmm that'd be tough to dispute that, Peter. In the eyes of Regency... it's a legitimate defect. If you got defected for... say... having a orange blinker, you could dispute that as that's clearly not a real defect. It's the biggest load of bullshit that a cop can just look at an exhaust and say "Yep. Must be too loud" without any DB testing on it or anything. Same goes with the wheels... they really should check the tyre placard!! Even with tint, a cop can simply 'assume' that the tint is too dark without any testing. The ID check you were talking about that you went through doesn't really matter. It's not a defect check, but rather, a ID inspection/compliance check which checks the bare basics (wheel size, etc). I went through with a big exhaust, turbo timer, etc through the ID check and they really didn't care. They can give you a defect, though... but you'd have to be pretty unlucky to cop one through there! You can try to dispute it, but don't be shocked if they turn you down. Goodluck.
  2. Work in government... and you too can hit over 1000 posts in under a year lol
  3. Damo, if sex had a picture, that'd be it.
  4. Don't see ASV!! Never ever!! EVER!!
  5. Steel wool... or a small baby.
  6. Yep spot on. They fixed their ticketing system at Service SA... now they should fix the people behind the desks and on the phones. Most of the time, they actually all stare into the distance with a blank look on their faces. It's really quite weird. But they are so rude to anyone foreign!! It's crazy! They treat everyone like you're stupid.
  7. It's incredible. It's happened to me many, many times. P2 question. Full license question. Demerit point question. permits for my GTR questions... I've been through it all. Argued with the customer service guys, argued with some blonde bimbo at the Service SA branch and have argued with the Service SA manager many, many times. I hate them with a passion. And I'm sure as hell, they all hate me. There's a guy who works there and he types with 1 finger and looks like this: 1 (3 second delay) A (3 second delay) 8 (3 second delay). He's a joke. And then he said my writing was "unreadable" for a VIN number. Bullshit it was!! Seriously, call them a few times, get different people and your answer changes every time.
  8. Lol sounds like Jack in the 33?
  9. Lol the electronic version or the manual? You're talking about the ones you see advertised in the Hot4's magazines and stuff... If you can hide it well enough, then you'll get away with it. But yeah that's defectable, too. You either run your car permanently loud or permanently quiet. It's only when you get defected for loud is when you shove items into the exhaust to quiet it down. That's what I did with my old Familia.
  10. Those cone things are defectable. Visible silencers are defectable. They can shoot out... even if they're bolted in, they're still defectable. Has been covered before. Baffles, resonators or steel wool works a treat, and is legal (not so much the steel wool, but it's a temporary fix).
  11. Dude, seriously, don't worry about it. This is what I mean... Transport SA are hopeless. Call them again! Get a new person and you'll get a different answer. If you've been caught for ANYTHING that has demerit points attached to it on your P1's, you'll have to wait longer/take a different course to get your P2's. They make mistakes all the time. I ran a red light on my P1's in like '06. Paid it, copped it, etc. Got 3 points (obviously no license loss). 2 years later, went to get my P2's after being told I needed to take a driver intervention course... never took the course, got my P2's without any issues. They f**k up all the time with everything. The call centre people are a bunch of muppets, and don't get me started on Service SA on North Tce... I'll require a whole new thread for that!! If you've only been done for speeding, with 3 points and you never ever got any other demerit-point-related fine, you won't lose your license... you might have to take that driver intervention course, though. Taken from the Transport SA Website: http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/licences_ce...provisional.asp And, if you're reading this, Transport SA... it's called f*cking customer service and communication. You all need to learn it.
  12. Ring Transport SA 3 times to get 3 different people. I'm serious. I rang them, asked when I can get it, they said now... so I went in and got told I can't for another month!! F*cking useless. That was... back in like '07 though.
  13. Shit this forum clock is still out of whack! It isn't 9:33am! It's 10:34am!
  14. Sorry, Mr. Sebastian... but really... is it a slow day @ The Advertiser? http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...5012985,00.html I don't think anyone actually cares anymore. Australian Idol should go in the bin. Anyone remember Natalie Guicci or however you spell her surname? She won... released a single... and disappeared. Didn't even release an album. What a waste of a series! Sony BMG must be kicking themselves for actually signing up these kind of people.
  15. It's Lobotomy. Removal of the frontal lobe of the brain, used to be done to mental patients. What they did to Jack Nicholson's character, McMurphy, in the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
  16. Blowby.
  17. Sounds like Thrust bearing to me! Mine was on the way out, too and it made that exact sound when the clutch was out. Also, my Master and Slave clutch cylinders were leaking! You might want to check them, too.
  18. Taken from another post in the SAU forum Gotta love Britain...
  19. Ah really? Will do, Kye!
  20. He's only wanting advice!!
  21. Non-compliant steering wheels (aka 90% of Autobahn steering wheels) is something I agree on. Most of them are made from poor materials, get destroyed on impact, etc. But... A pillar gauges?! It's a Regency thing, too, but gee... where did they pull this law from? If you're going to crash, your head will hit the steering wheel in most cases... not a small gauge tucked into a corner. But, we'll have to accept that. Nothing against Neil personally, just curious about that rule. Excellent point here. People love 'backyard modifications' with holes being drilled here and there to fit a new CAI pipe, etc. But at the end of the day, some of these mods can be dangerous! All in all, sounds like the meeting went really well! Well done Neil and SAPOL for taking the time and resources to have a meeting with SAU. It's another step forward for this club! Edit: Ruby, excellent post!
  22. Looks the goods, Kye!
  23. Don't forget, sure it's xxx amount for a engine, but you also have to factor in the labor costs for ripping out the old one and throwing another one in!
  24. My slave cylinder is leaking like crazy... so the GTR is stuck in my driveway. Has been for 2 months now
