  1. I don't understand the whole dyno fascination, the engine is only part of the whole equation. With drag MPH you can more accurately show how quick/fast the whole car is, not just beat your chest over some dyno graph where the rollers were spiked. What's the point of having a 600rwkw motor if you can only use 200 of it? Either limited by component failure, traction, driver talent... etc? Now that's pointless...
  2. HKS ETC allows the setting to be changed without turning off the ignition. Was playing around with one last night in the wet - can alter settings at speed too (although only tested it under 20km/h)
  3. Naw, for $600 you get a set of 550cc injectors, plus a complete silver R33 GT-R with a Sard fuel rail + custom piping. What do you think of that bargain? For sale: 6 x 550cc injectors + std fuel rail. $600. That's all.
  4. CHRA # 700177-14 has the usual 84 trim/60mm 30 series turbine wheel but has the 82mm, 56 trim GT40 on it - flowing ~65lbs/min. This is an off the shelf Garrett item. Can you ask your Garrett contact why he doesn't want to "put" that compressor wheel on that sized turbine, when you can buy one directly from Garrett? Also, you can get a larger trim GT30 compressor wheel (T04S - don't be fooled by the "T04S" designation as these are the new line) than the 56trim offered on the GT30R, there is a 60 trim wheel available that flows ~60lbs/min. CHRA # 700177-13 has that combo. That is with a 76mm exducer diameter, and 59mm inducer. Side note: there is a T04S 63 trim wheel but it has an exducer diameter of 84mm, but it flows ~70lbs/min. Rockin'!
  5. Nope, only have the one set of 6 injectors. I have a set of 950cc injectors but I want to get them flowed 1st.
  6. Prices + options. I haven't had the pleasure of rebuilding a blown box, but approx. price... 1) 2nd hand box - $800 to $1500 2) Rebuild your gearbox to std spec - the labor would be around $400, so add parts? 3) OS Giken gearset - $3000 for gears, ? for upgrade parts, $400 labor 4) Trust box - was trying to sell mine for $8k, dunno of any others around 5) Pfitzner gearset - $7500+ for 5 speed, add more for billet selectors + center plate 6) OS Giken sequential 6 speed - $17500 on otomoto site 7) Hollinger seq box - $18,000+ depending on options. Last time I rang them it was $22,000 for the seq version with shifter display. You can probably get better prices than those listed, even more so if you some work on it yourself. Edit: Whoops I deleted my old post. Hah oh well...
  7. What's the new plate? B-MAN'D?
  8. Keir Wilson's running a PowerFC piggybacked with a Motec. I think one of the reasons for doing this is as he retains the standard style ATESSA which requires input from the ECU - something Motec + Autronic can't do(?). You'll need to run either a standard ECU or PowerFC to retain the standard ATESSA system, or change over to a manual ATESSA setup like the Veilside or Jun ones.. although I can't see the value in one of these over a home-made job. If you want to run a complete datalogging system as well as an electronic dash the PowerFC + Pi System 2 or AIM dash (or another brand) would work a treat, the PowerFC + dash would cost less than a Motec dash by itself.
  9. Ah I was wondering what happened to doing an RB30 - still thinking of doing one in the future? Btw, tops stuff again, although as far as a D.I.Y thread it's probably out of 99.999% of people's league!
  10. I think everyone would like to think their car(s) need to use Z32 afm's! Hell I think my car might need 4 Q45 afm's, although in reality a single CA18 afm would be fine.
  11. $600, comes with a free set of 6 550cc injectors!
  12. Sorry about the delay.. 1) They are Nippon Denso injectors, they were sold under the Apex'i banner 2) Have been in the motor for 15,000k's 3) They are top feed injectors, I can supply a fuel rail to suit. They are still bolted onto the motor, I'll leave them in there until they get sold.
  13. Damn, where is the car? In a workshop? Have they given any reason why it's taking so long to do a simple remove and replace?
  14. Pfft you never invite me over for a BBQ!
  15. Yeah it would work, but you had better be putting out 800hp+ or the resolution for tuning isn't going to be as good as a pair of Z32 afm's.
  16. It's a different setup on the '25 head, the RB25 uses a 1 piece injector mount/runner combo where the RB26 has the injector mounts on the 1st casting, the throttle bodies, then the plenum.
  17. I've got a set of 6 used 550cc's injectors out of an RB26, perfect condition. Asking $600.
  18. Oh yeah and it hammers bearings too.
  19. VL commodore! Cheap, can run it into walls repeatedly and fix it for $5, cheap, and did I mention cheap? Can hack into it without a worry in the world to fit the rear subframe/front brakes, and if you screw it buy another one for two fiddy.
  20. If you can get the turbo specs you are after. In the end if you pay $5,000 for a turbo, and are happy with it, does it matter anyway? I don't think the compressor:turbine size "rule" is really that valid, considering the differences in flow amounts on various designs of wheels..e.g the T04E 57 trim wheel is the same physical size as a GT30R (HKS3037S) comp wheel yet the peak flows are more than 10 lbs/min different.
  21. How about changing the diff ratio to something a bit lower, like 4.8:1? Aerodynamic mods too? But if you put a dollar to kw value on mods, you can't beat the "common" mods of turbo + ECU.. and pretty much any large engine changes you make is going to need an altered management system.
  22. It's more airflow levels rather than extreme presure ratio i.e. the turbo's producing 100 squares of air at 5psi and the engine can only "swallow" 30 squares, so air comes back out the intake system via the turbo. The main reason for it is the exhaust housing is too small - if you go up a size (or two) in exhaust size it should sort the problem out by bringing on the turbo later, when the engine can make use of the airflow.
  23. What model chip/software?
  24. If you get hit by the customs stick and paying premium DHL/UPS shipping can cost as much as $2,000. Get one in via EMS for as low as $1700 - that's just from an online shop such as www.cheapturbo.com. As always, helps to shop around.
