Polycarbonate Windows
Mr. Untouchable replied to phunky_monkey's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
can't see why not. we have Lexan screens on our boat, they do have black mesh 'bra' screens but see a disgustingly hard life, and look good after a year (sits on a Marina, exposed to the elements 365) and its not really huge money, I was up for a rear screen anyway, at 330 cost price for a aftermarket jobbie through Novus and 2k for the rear screen with no wiper hole. 800 delievered for sides, qtr's and a rear in hardcoat isnt half bad IMO I was talking to the owner of a big glass factory here in tas when i put the lexan screens in the boat, he said the only downfall was resistance to UV, so if the car is stored out of the weather I'd expect decent life. time will tell i guess! -

I have some coming, the 33 hardcoated kit scratch resistant. A mate ordered it along with his 32 kit. I think it's coming from that mob, there was a 6 week wait on the hard coat stuff. To be honest didn't even ask what thickness. Will post up what it's like when it arrives and I've fitted it. And I'll weigh the std door glass vs the lexan. -

Mr. Untouchable replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
yeah sounds a bit odd, unlucky. maybe look at running a different compound pad on the rear? maybe not getting up to temp and being harsh? not good anyway, hope ya sort it and dont lose another pair, cheers -

oh man, the hacksaw is gonna have to go on the "brodie do not touch" list like the stanley knife! blody hell. and yes basky every 5-6 weeks is fine by me! spent the last 12 months preparing for that shit ahhh you can just feel that datsun love =)

got a few ods and ends sorted over the weekend finally got around to replacing my Vac lines, had a few start to melt yonks ago at basky. dropped my subframe down pulled the calipers off and shocks out and cut the top out of the rear of the subframe bushes and hard mounted it to the car, aluminim subframe lock rings in the front and on the bottoms. altered the antisquat (and a tiny roll centre change) by around 7mm or there abouts. wont go spacing the front down to take anymore out til i drive the thing today i tracked down some condute at good ol superchoip, got the loom from front to back of the car covered and secured and looks nice and tidy now. also did the boot wiring to the tail lights and fuel pumps/relays etc, much neater. got the rear diffuser/air guide measured out and planned, will pick up the ally this week to start that started painting my surge tank and tank/pump base plate, that will soon wear the rising sun, to match the cam/valley covers list is getting smaller! =)

Rb 240z
Mr. Untouchable replied to skidmark's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
verrry nice matey, can't believe i missed this thread. I am a 240 fan from way back, love them. loving the build so far, i actualy kinda like the idea of a 20 in it, they are strong, little older sound great and will be pretty reasonable in such a featherweight of a car too. color looks good, flares and wheels set it off. wilwoods behind the wheels make me warm and fuzzy great build, cant wait to see some more updates =) -
Try AV Mcguiness in sunderland street, Ian lynn. great bloke, one of the only business's I'd leave/have left my car with.

Pretty sure federal rpm's are for your nans Astra, comfort street tire. The rs-r's are their flagship performance road tire. Not their semi, that's the Z something

I can tell you toyo R888's grip well from cold, especially with dome decent camber.

Regarding the diff shimming mate, from my experience running one in my car it didn't cause any undster issues. I bought a second diff so I could shim the new one so it was ready to go straight in and then have the old housing there to put a decent 2 way in or maybe 1.5 way when i get around to it. I stripped the new diff I got down, was in great condition and had 2.2mm of preload in already. I fitted another .8mm in there to give it a total of 3mm. I Put some really thick 80-140 or so nulon oil in and it has been quiet and reliable ever since. Permanent loctite on all the crown wheel bolts, bolts and threads cleaned properly before reasembley and let to dry overnight before I topped it up with oil. Handling wise, it just magnified how shit my coilovers were. And it became a big handful. I drove around it but on power in a few spots around basky was wild, mainly turn one under the bridge. Car still rotates well, just power down corner exit becomes a whole new ball game. Hoping whole new shocks/springs geometry/ aero and new tires makes life easier. I plan to get a good mechanical when I can but not at the top of the todo list just yet. The other option is a gtr rear cradle, gtr drive shafts(thicker, more rotating mass) alloy rear hubs (lighter) and a gtr diff can be shimmed with nismo gear. Also u must run gtr rear shocks. Anyways enough ranting, give it ago does work and is a cheap solution to single pegging but obviously not as good as a mechanical.

on the flip side there is plenty of good datsuns doing to rounds in the motorsport (mainly circuit) scene. Brad's monster 32, rod willit's 32, Jamie lonergan's 32, John brigg's 32, yogi burghart's 33, Leigh Wooly's 33 then Pete Nunn's old car not sure who bought that. Nobes is building a Improved production 350z, plus the 370 that is being built =) Burgz is building his car atm, should be pretty trick. also not sure what is going on with PJ's 34gtr, no doubt that will be floating about before too much longer no doubt there is a few i have missed things only seem to be growing on the circuit scene anyway which is great =D
