LOL close to 50 of us in Victor today..on a cruise ????? looking for parking..lol
-
Spotted a couple of R33 in grey not on the cruise but heading towards town on south road, one with a funky front bar ? a silver stag in MV ?
-
the cruise was a good one with about 50 cars, the only cop issues we ran across was the accident blocking south road and the express way separated the group but the cops had there hands full prying apart a couple of Commys and a few other shit boxes. a tiny bit of rain then lots of sun on the way out and the other minor problem was NO PARKING in Victor Harbor ? cause the market was on, but beside that it was a great turnout with some new faces would have been nice to get all the cars in a line up for photos in victor, oh well next time thanks for a good cruise, look forward to the next one. cheers NO BLITZ YEAH!!!

a better choice to save your pump and leaks in the future is LUCAS power steering / auto trans fluid. from Supercheap for about 18 buck if I remember right. the stuff stops minor leaks, silents noisy pumps, and runs heaps cooler , and can be mixed with other fluids compatible with power steering on Nissans(most auto trans as well but check first have it in my auto trans R31 now with 485,000 k and no issues ever) I used it on my R31, commo and a few others with pumps whining , fixed the whine right up and steering got much smoother in the rack and pinion Only one I would choose, the bottle is huge so you will have enough for the whole system if its drained out. dont forget when you drain it you need to follow the instructions in the manual to bleed out the steering with the wheels off the ground ? or it could fail from air in the system ? (like brakes with too much air) its not hard just takes a bit more time

Lack of vacuum power assist may be due to low engine vacuum, a leaky vacuum hose or a defective booster. Sometimes a faulty check valve will allow vacuum to bleed out of the booster causing a hard pedal when the brakes are applied. This condition can be diagnosed by starting the engine (to build vacuum), shutting it off, waiting four or five minutes, then trying the brakes to see if there is power assist. No assist means a new check valve is needed ________________________________________________________________________________ A quick way to check the vacuum booster is to pump the brake pedal several times with the engine off to bleed off any vacuum that may still be in the unit. Then hold your foot on the pedal and start the engine. If the booster is working, the amount of effort required to hold the pedal should drop and the pedal itself may depress slightly. If nothing happens and the vacuum connections to the booster unit are okay, a new booster is needed (the vacuum hose should be replaced, too) I would suspect a vacuum line is leaking, it would explain the boost issue as well ?. the brake vacuum line is about as big as your little finger in diameter and goes from the intake to the big black cylinder behind the master cylinder on the brakes. I'll take a photo soon and post it up if you need one ? Ben is right to a point with hard brakes? but if the rear seal fails in the master cylinder ,it doesnt have the hard pedal feel at the start , or might be intermitten if the check valve fails ? has the system lost any brake fluid at all ? when it leaks sometimes you dont see the fluid leak because its leaking internally into booster or into intake line and burned off in engine? ______________________________________________________________________ you asked about the fan dropping boost, its not possible but feels like it robbed a lot of power from the engine , RB25 dont have heaps of off boost torque so when the fan fails it will feel shithouse !!! the main fan is mechanical not electrical feedback (but the A/C fan is) . unless the water temp was hot, which would put the ECM into a failsafe(limp home mode) situation but highly unlikley. when the fan fails it goes two ways, one freezes up or close to it and it doesnt always stop instantly when you shut off the engine, mine still spun but not well, and if you move it my by hand you could feel it was stuffed without a doubt and upon removal you could see the failure of the bearing coupler, second way to fail, it refuses to engage and spins free with no resistance at all, which overheats the car a bit. because it wont lock up to cool off the car. in which case when you shut off the engine it spins for a fair bit before stopping. cold or hot it free spins without the gooey feel of the fluid in the coupler ___________________________________________________________________________ the turbo , it wont produce much boost if you have a blockage in the tailpipes ,cat or muffler ? get a vacuum gauge tester and see if your getting vacuum before tearing your car apart on a witch hunt. if the engine at idle has low vacuum it has a blocked tailpipe or a intake leak which would also be a part of the brake booster issue? if you have a vacuum leak it can also make the car hard to start or idle like crap, or surge on idle ? check all the hose clamps on the intercooler lines as well... all intake lines ? some look fine but are brittle and leaking. does the car blow black smoke ? if the ECM has gone into limp mode it wont produce any power to speak of , only enough to get you home without stuffing up the engine? have you checked the engine ECM codes yet ? only takes a few min to get them ? have you checked the boost control solenoid valve to see if its sticking sorry if its overload of info..lol good luck

Write off this is one company that used to be cheaper then the tirerack and had a good service not sure if they sell and ship to OZ or not ? http://www.bigotires.com/ this is another good place for cheap tires and good service. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do not in California but these guys in Denver had decent stuff great prices as well, used to buy my RX7 and VR4 tires/rims from these guys http://www.performancewheel.com/ dont forget I haven't been back to states to buy tires in a while now , but all of these companies have been around for a long time (more then 20years),so no shonky biz hope this helps your search. Tire rack is still a option since its the largest ONLINE seller ?

LOL seems like it !!! from my massive list of cars spotted in a round trip to the city and back..lol a jap performance car invasion..lol I love it.

Have you looked at the flashing codes on the ECM yet? before tearing into the dash/engine harness, I would check that out it may point to a sensor failure to narrow it down quicker ? Run the R34 GTR diagnostics , your ECM is prob in the same spot as most nissans, behind the passenger or drivers side kick panel (not positive with GTR R34), side bit with 1 screw holding it a and slides back toward you and might have a plastic nut holding it to the firewall (most are missing that bit) and the trim on the door sill on some cars might need to be popped off and unscrewed to get the panel off if its too tight. some also have a inspection port with a rubber plug covering the blinking LED on the ECM without taking off the panel , check first !!! pretty sure the ground point for the cluster is in a different spot then the other dash gauges, on a different harness , so its very possible to get two readings,1 good 1 bad from screen? if the dash was out its prob not grounded properly since it relies on resitance to be right to register the right temps. most of the harness grounds meet up behind the radio , A/C area on the metal bar in front of the heater core on mine, yours should be the same , Nissan keeps things consistant on there cars? Its pretty suss to have your heater core leak on a R34 ? was the car running just water or mixed coolants to corrode the core so quick? it could be a corrosion problem on the single wire terminal on the sensor which will be picked up by the flashing ECM LED's ? I know its not the same exactly but my R31 with RB30(same engine breed, same sensor locations for the most part) had that issue with corrosion on the sensor, cut it off and soldered a new connector to it. worked perfect no other issues. it shouldnt be that hard to find the issue with a few ECM tests and digital volt meter? maybe someone on this site has the ODBC II code reader for the Skyline ? with that you can reset the ECM too ? good luck hope that helps a bit and yes I'd move the post to the national site per inlines suggestion lots more R34 GTR interstate ?

spotted a silver grey R33 with silver and dark grey 5 spokes in Christie Downs tonight about 8 spotted a asshole trying to drive me into the ditch at 100k driving in a 4x4 on south road. then he tried to chase me down less then a meter off my bumper at 100k and run up my ass all the way into aldinga then tried to follow me home. . prob a drunk dickhead,,,, where are the cops when you need one?..lol what a wanker !!
-
prob. was me ..lol and you would have been one of the stag drivers I saw ?
-
YEP !!! only mine is a GTT R34 with jap sat nav but if you unplug the wiring or remove the battery it comes up as PIT with a wrench on the screen , and needs a reset. I didnt worry about it because its being removed this weekend for another setup. but if I remember right I saw the fix on the UK Skyline clubs site or Nissan should be able to reset the computer for you ? ???? are you certain you bleed the air out of the cooling system it might actually be hot ? you need to turn the heater on full heat to fill the heater core properly when its drained dry ? and recheck it often in the first few days. it can also be a bad ground in the dash for the unit or a loose/corroded plug on the thermostat wire for the sensor on the dash, it measures resistance to read the temp.

add me to the list , lots more photos , yeah !!!! can we get a down south meet point near Seaford cut off to Victor ? or south road area? I think we have a bunch of dirty southern crew going...represent for a good cause!!!

well at least you found the fan clutch problem, junkyard item for me...lol only takes about 20 min to change tops and I really doubt it could ever blow off any lines, just not that much pressure from the air. hint on the shroud- clutch, removal, take off the 4 10mm bolts on pump nose while the fan is rooted it turns the pulleys to remove the bolts, take out the screws holding the shroud , slide it up over the fan onto the pulleys then the fan fits between the radiator and comes out easier.? Idea for you,,,,if you take off the bonnet insulation and use it for a template for some sound deadener from Dynomat ? cheaper then a new one and looks nicer too. check the brake booster vacuum lines ? the leak will cause minimal manifold boost and no brakes ? good luck pm me if you need help

Dont be so Paranoid Tom,? it will make you crazy..lol But at least your car isn't on the Town truck on its way to being stripped of parts? and your a good sport for being paid out..lol Merry Christmas come early?..lol this gift just keeps giving ..lol
