  1. exactly what i used to do for the airlines...lol and yes the fuel in town is laced with lots of water and contamination, watch them dip stick the tanks, the stick comes up with water stuck to it in droplets or worse a distict line of water and fuel marks.. I'll stick to a newer station with BP ultimate or a station with high rates of turn over of fuel to keep the water out of my car. those muppets couldnt test fuel let alone ring you up when the bar code scanner fails...lol
  2. E85 is the future , and good for the planet if they dont cut down the rain forest or take food off peoples dinner plates to plant corn, or cane and E85 is a lot higher amount of ethanol then 10% used in states in winter , hence the higher octane rating and more filtration. reasons below why I wont use it at this point, I dont have a car modified to run it and dont want to replace fuel parts to run it!!!!! ________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________ E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Such flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) are designed to run on any mixture of gasoline or ethanol with up to 85% ethanol by volume. There are a few major differences between FFVs and non-FFVs. One is the elimination of bare magnesium, aluminum, and rubber parts in the fuel system. Another is that fuel pumps must be capable of operating with electrically conductive ethanol instead of non-conducting dielectric gasoline fuel. Fuel injection control systems have a wider range of pulse widths to inject approximately 40% more fuel. Stainless steel fuel lines, sometimes lined with plastic, and stainless steel fuel tanks in place of terne fuel tanks are used. In some cases, FFVs use acid-neutralizing motor oil. For vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arrestors positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used. Using E85 in a gasoline engine has the drawback of achieving lower fuel economy as more fuel is needed per unit air (stoichiometric fuel ratio) to run the engine in comparison with gasoline. E85 also has a lower heating value (units of energy per unit mass) than gasoline leading to a reduction in power output in a gasoline engine. defeats the cost savings doesnt it ? if you fill up more often ? look around the net, lots of good and bad about it source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85
  3. I'm Interested in going , can i get a map and pm of meet locations please ?, might have to bail early but i'll bring all the camera gear, hope to get my other toys installed before then too never enough time is there...lol char if you need a ride down i might be able to hang back to pick you up depending on the meeting location and drive map?
  4. 10% ethanol has been required in Denver and a few other cities where I'm from in USA for over 10 years to reduce emissions in the winter time?. in summer it random vapor locks all cars, new or old ones and isnt used in the summer months because of that, High altitude 2k or more above sea level and low octane 82-85ron , or low volatility/flash rates dont mix. it boils in the 40 degree days in the fuel lines and when you come back to start the car it wont. its flooded. on vapours from boiling fuel , you have to open the fuel cap to get the pressure down in the tank . most of the time that sorts it out otherwise you have to wait a while for it to cool off more a pain in the ass?. its also linked to engine failures in normal daily driven cars, they start to smoke in a few years, mitsu ,hyundia, kia and the smaller GM,Ford cars are the worse. and its been shown to kill off the fuel pumps and dry out the fuel lines premature, even in the manuals of cars there it a huge warning on page 1 not to use it , but some places you cant avoid it. the high octane of 102ron or more is created by using BP ultimate and pro strength nulon ,Moroso, NOS , but make sure its safe for cats and sensors or it will melt them and kill your engine, dont use acetone based products to increase octane they kill lots of things including your paintwork..lol BP in the UK sells 102ron at the pumps ? does anyone find it here, i checked the web and didnt find it anywhere but the UK? but like all things more octane isnt always better. it gets to the point of melted pistons or broken rings ,costs a lot too, we used to much in a race car once and it melted the pistons and stained the race foam fuel cell dark brown, poured them out of extractors after pulling it apart. you run more octane to increase the timing of engines (more power to a point !!! ) and to keep detonation from breaking the [piston ring lands on the turbo cars or hi compression ones. also to keep the plugs cleaner to avoid misfire, and carbon build up in oil and combustion chambers. and you should notice it has more power (more efficent engine ,burns hotter, heat is power inside engines )= more kilometres per tank full if you keep your foot out of it. hard to do with more power...lol why do you think aircraft use it, you want you life dependant on lousy fuel while flying ? even airliners measure fuel weights to check the fuel quality in a test tube often in the day and for impurities. I used to fuel prop /jets in college to learn how to work on aircraft engines and avionic /electronics...lol high octane fuel is filtered more? but like eveything, watch the place you buy it from , if its an old place it could have sand sepage from leaking tanks, had it happen at a old caltex(texaco) in usa, filled my RX7 with fuel, the sand ran into the tanks a little from tank leaking and it clogged my filter and float bowls up with microsand till the engine died of no fuel a few miles away.they ended up closing the station to replace the tanks, you might notice it happening here lately, replacing the tanks, which sit in sand beds underground.? a lot down south if you tune your car it will run on lower octane fuel with similar power in street trim, it was tried by a some pros in the states just to show a lower compression engine with a proper tune can make similar power, mind you this wasnt a cheap process to do , and not an option to most of us due to cost involved. much easir to put high octane in ...lol if you run cheap fuel in your car it wont kill it if your just driving /cruising off boost/soft with it. but might foul the plugs and it will chew thru it faster, but i wont do it unless its a emergeny ( 100k flat land cruise) without boost needed it not worth the risk to stuff up a motor or if i need to kick the foot down to pass someone. when they create ethenol at high octane it might be ok but til then im staying clear of it in the skyline. heel who know it might run on hydrogen some day..lol Mazda has a Rotary in testing that does run on Hydrogen otherwise I'll stick to BP Ultimate or if i could find Shell Optimax read up on Nulon pro here http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?produ..._Octane_Booster Indicative RON increases: 91.5 Unleaded +PSO=96.5 (5.0 RON increase) 95 PULP +PSO=98.1 (3.1 RON increase) 98 PULP +PSO=100.1 (2.1 RON increase) 100 PULP +PSO=103.5 (3.5 RON increase) (When used at maximum recommended treat rate.) Directions for Use: To boost octane add one 500ml bottle to 60 litres of petrol. Add directly to the tank prior to filling. Experiment with lower doses to establish the optimum treat rate to stop detonation. Use with each tank full. To stop valve seat recession, add 1ml to each litre of petrol.
  5. spotted a nice white r34 4dr with bronze wheels coming north past the seaford pub, gave them the wave, nothing ?
  6. watched it, they used a 3.8 v6 commy for testing on the dyno, not a hi compression or turbo car. ? but even in the end the dyno tuner said he would stick with Premium fuels to keep plugs , oil clean and car customers happy. I had to put cheap shit in mine once, out of food stuff and needed fuel bad, it missfired really bad. My R34 likes BP Ultimate the best. unless i run octane boost with it, lol to bring it up to 102 or so..lol then it runs really good. Do we have 102 octane hidden in OZ? i know BP in the UK has it ? sure beats the USA crap fuel, 10% ethonol killed engines in states, and vapour lock at high altitudes on hot days. and low octane for everything else but race fuel.
  7. You want shiny ?, I used that new 2009 product line from Meguiars today, with a buffer and OMG!!! my car is so farking shiny now its unreal,, wish it was black so you could really see it. the paint is perfectly smooth, and didnt need to clay bar it first, later tonight I'll crank up the camera and take some shots under light so you can see it. even in white its a damn mirror. took off 95=100%% of the acid rain marks from osaka and scratches/scuffs. even my bonnet mess is fixed up , no more haze or spider webs. it was worth the wait to get into OZ. and didnt cost an arm and leg either. less then 100 bucks, but looks like i got a respray of 4 layers of clear coat. teflon car protection isnt worth shit its applied like a layer of clearcoat. you would be better off respraying the clear coat after a quick sand back if your car is that bad. that aftermarket crap is what fails and turns yellow if you dont keep it up. and cost a fortune. to keep up...... its the same shit dealers use for huge pre delivery profits similar to the scotch gard they spary on seats then charge you 400% mark up. if it was so hot they would do it from the factory ? oh and good luck colour matching your car if it gets hit with that on it? looks good for a while then I wouldn't recommend it but thats me. for those of you who havent seen this self healing paint take a look http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2005/...51202-01-e.html notice this is 2005 press release?. now all they need trolley deflecting paint jobs..lol
  8. you have my vote... lol I even have some semi pro models begging to pose two weeks ago,, "REDLINE magazine style"...lol if you have looked thru it you know what im talking about...lol Drool
  9. Had a 4G63 VR4 Galant with EVO running gear, nothing but trouble with it. Mitsu has a poor record with smoking engines and lousy trannys Toyota,Nissan Or Subby? or maybe this one ?
  10. spotted ," reeper 33" grey 4 dr 33 on beach rd, gave a wave , nothing spotted a wine r33 flying past the red ruby chinese in christies beach while eating dinner, they flew past my front row seat. a few min later the PO PO were cruising up and down the block. looking my car over too, assholes pulled up behind me as i was getting in it after dinner, they didnt say anything just stared... grrrrrr spotted a white r33 on gulfview spotted a white R34 no wing , 4dr behind me on south road into aldinga, passed me and gave them a wave but couldn't see thru tint, anyone on here ? no i wasnt following you down to the beach i live there...lol spotted two r33s in seaford area parked. a grey one and black one side by side. getting so much hot rice in town you can't swing a cat by the tail without hitting one...lol lets take over the town..lol
  11. lol ed, i had lots of car shots with chicks draped over them from autosalon, but to be in good taste with the women on here i left those out...lol cause if you think about it , you wouldnt want a month of girls draped over a car, then a guy bent over one? would you ? to be fair to the women on SAU.....NOPE let just leave it with cars then...lol!!!!
  12. cheers for the info, vu..... more learning never hurts anyone does it?..lol i use some similar waterless products on my car , but on other cars its hit and miss, if the car is in bad shape and dull it really needs to be detailed properly. to make the shine last . but on one that has a good coat of wax and not too filthy it works great to give them a quick shine/clean without wasting water. working on mine today with the new 2009 range of products from USA , you can get them from Rare Spares on 384 south road, but expect to pay for them as its the PRO Detailer range from Meguiars. time to rid it of the acid rain etches once and for all...lol. its pretty shiny now , so hope to blind me later today...lol, just in time to have it rained on again.oh well we need the rain yes im a perfectionist , if i can see the microscopic waves in the paint from acid rain/or adelaides toxic water it drives me nuts...lol some waxes cost a forture hear in oz and just because they cost 200 AUD$ for 275ml doesnt mean they will last here?, oz has really harsh heat, salt, red abrasive dirt,UV,and bad tap water, i did ask the main contact from meguiars USA forums to use adelaide for testing because we have some really harsh conditions here , see if they listen or not...lol hint if you do it yourself take your time, and use mutiple microfiber towels, not hand/bath towels. or lambs wool washing mitts. they hold the dirt and scratch. and if your towel hits the ground use another one, dont bother using that one until washed or scratches will result. watch a few videos , plenty online who walk you thru the steps and products to do it right. detailing isnt that hard but its a lot of hard work and an eye for detail, and must be done right or it will destroy your paint. or best case if you use cheap products you'll be doing it again in a few weeks just to keep the shine....IE NO TURTLE WAX. or KITTEN...lol keep that for the bush bashers...lol (and beware of some of those so called "factory paint protection"products the dealers sell, mostly on new cars but some on used cars too, they turn yellow and flake over time and will stuff up your car paint in a big way) they're used for "huge additional dealer profit margins" because they know most people will never claim on the paint warranty, most people will have a new car again by the time the warranty expires. I worked for Mazda and Volvo a while back in USA , Volvo actually sent out a notice not to spray rubberized undercoat or paint seal there new cars, it locked in the road salt and air vapour water in the unibody car frames creating rust in half the time as normal. and the paint protection stuffed up the clear coats over a few years. otherwise find a recommended detailer near you . lots of people have sugesstions for reputable ones in town. good luck
  13. some dribble from me,, actually it ended up in a downpour of rain. a few of last nights 3am lightning photos from my house near the beach, yes im up till 4am playing dodge the lighting on the cliff tops..lol some very close hits, and a steel sign near me sizzling from the rain and electricity, ive got photos of the lightning leaping off the ground to meet the sky from tree tops and signs nearby. very cool to catch on the camera great lightshow http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Mi...-album2919.html
  14. spotted a white r33 with chrome wheels in seaford maccas drive thru 2 cars behind me...lol about 10ish tonight. then he was ahead of me heading into moana .. anyone on here?...if so you could have goosed it a bit from the light so i could have got passed that stupid camry infront of the pub...lol , didnt want to drive over you just to get past them,,,,lol and a gaggle load of R31's running around noarlunga area tonight
  15. well im heading to the meguiars cert training camp in sydney soon ,and i do some car detailing on the side for cheap, lol and expect a serious detail for the first time to take a long time to get it right, 8hrs isnt unheard of depending on the car and how shiny you want it...lol I'm still working on my acid rain stains from japan, had to order some new products from USA to get rif of it. but if you plan on doing it yourself give me a pm for hints. or look here( ps. its about 100-200 for decent products to do a complete car if you dont have anything yet? and the levels of issues it has) http://www.motoractive.com.au/ or here http://www.meguiars.com.au/ and if you need really good answers quick join the Megs forums in USA the pros answer questions in 24hrs or sooner and have youtube videos on how too http://www.meguiars.com/ stay away from any of the discount crap , you do get what you pay for. lots cheaper the a respray. and a buffer is evil in the wrong hands, beware !!!
