How To Fix Distorted Speakers In R32
Carbon 34 replied to r32man09's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
at all volume levels ? or random? what brand of speaker? how much power ? run off the deck or amp? do they do it cold and hot after running a little while? fronts or rears? any music or talk radio as well ? if you can record a few seconds of it on a phone or ? and post it up it might help troubleshoot a lot..as you can see we need more info before pointing you in the right direction. cheers -
the difference in a good one and a shite one is exactly the same when you see how they get them off. just use it 100% of the time, along with a proper immobilizer/alarm a muti-layer approach is best and common sense

yeah most likely me..lol was that you in the r31 with skyline nats decals on it ?

2dr version remove the two bolts on seat bottom cushion, remove bottom by sliding forward and off the seat belts catches remove bolts on seat belt bottom part where they meet the floor pan, for ease of rear deck removal two bolts on seat back on each corner, then slide straight up but watch the window cause it will scratch tint if your not careful rear deck is held on by sliding under each side into a notch from the sail panels and two plastic plugs underneath in the middle, those can just pop up with care , also 3 plugs on the front of the shelf lip need to come off two seat belt moldings need to have the seat belts slide thru them to remove the rear deck, which is why you took out the seat belt lower bolts rear deck needs to flex down a tiny bit on both corners and up in the middle to remove once everything is loose/removed speaker grills might need to come off from inside the boot, depends on whats in it now and maybe a cover for the wiper on some cars , mine was removed with new fiberglass molded deck a while ago some decks have baby bolts , 3 of them, to remove, some screw from underside in the boot, but once you get the seat out you can see near the shock towers on how they have them mounted ? to completely access the underside of the rear deck you just remove the plug on the top of the carper liner hiding the seat back in the boot side. the other parts are in the spare tyre well and just pry off with the right tool. forked plastic or metal removal tool or they will break bolt area on seat bottom above bolt area on seat back below think thats it if I remember right..lol hope that helps. kinda a pain depending on what is in it now ??? some cars have aftermarket speakers already and this will vary on mounting.

quality is best/features IMO (lifetime warranty on hardware if pro installed, great tech support ) but not a Australian approved device without adding some extra bits. don't forget they make a lot of different levels of alarms Viper,Python, etc to tell you the truth car theft here is really bad compared to the USA, shocking bad to be exact. flaming mongrels , in USA you have guns and "make my day" laws and judges who throw crims in the prison for doing it !!!...lol so crims might think twice before toying with your pride and joy

remote start is highly illegal in Australia (ADR rules suck)and a defect so is the turbo timer function of some car alarms and check your insurance, cause some won't cover you unless it is an AUSTRALIAN approved model some shops won't install ebay crap, and a how about a warranty ?? shop local, buy local for support reasons don't try to install it yourself a guide for approved car alarms and other info http://www.nrma.com.au/documents/brochures/crimesafe-car.pdf

one of the speakers is grounded, or the tinsel lead(place where the wires go from the speaker frame to the cone) is touching the metal speaker frame, my car came with the baby bolts smashing the speakers to death . compliance idiots damn rules for imports, who could even fit three babys in the back of a r34...lol more then likely the same deal , baby bolt additions upon import warping the speaker to touch metal or wires under a bracket grounding out. in a remote case it might be a fried capacitor/crossover which can make a high pitched noise if there on a amp then it could also be another problem , pinched RCA lead etc
-
I wouldn't put the two together , but if you don't have noise I wouldn't rush to redo it power down battery side (in most cases to shorten the run and find grommets thru the firewall), RCA on the other side and speaker wires in the middle under the console convoluted tubing is the word your after, and not required , since it tends to hold wires in a clump under carpets (not optimum), but use it for passing around metal or in the engine bays. if your wires run on the other side of floorpan from a cat converter then I would use some heat proof protective or move the wires to a better area

black stock stag at stupid cheap darlington also a silver r33 with sau sa on the drivers side quarter window, BBS wheels

multi layered security is the way to slow them down and move on to easier cars

that sucks mate...... but it is port adelaide?, a dump and no alarm, just asking for it. parking on the street is like having a flag on it in neon, "steal me"!! at least you got it back in fixable condition not smoking still. so I take it your first item to buy is a ADR approved alarm ? wish the police would actually put the car theft crims behind bars, not a slap on the hand off you go. farking scum in this town who steal cars and trash them.

yep sounds like a bad/problem charging system , but could be a bad battery(low current holding or low water if its a wet system) or bad ground/positive terminals loose corroded ? some auto shops have free testing on batteries/alternators, buy a cheap digital volt meter for like 10 bucks to check if your car is charging or not ? jaycar, supercheap or ? needs to be around 12v with engine off roughly 13.8-14.4v when running if all good turn on your lights, with engine on and retest voltage, is it getting lower and lower or stable ? post up the results and clean and tighten the terminals (post cleaners/wire brush ) is only a couple bucks if you have a small jap battery , expect it to be dead ...lol , good reason to update your battery and terminals to Aussie standards most of the time it's a bad terminal, R31 did that and the positive terminal was cracked on the underside, causing resets and low voltage

if you have the exact model number I can give you box sizes accurately

you could have 10 speakers or more on a amp, if they are wired right, OHM's law the internal RCA bridge parrallels your input for 4 speakers to work on 4 channnels with only a left and right connected the plug a new or borrow a RCA and run it outside the car into the boot, and start the car, is the whine gone ? if so you know you need to replace or move the RCA to a better location and or replace it, ground shield is broken causing the ground to go back thru the radio , muti-path grounds induce noise run away from power wires, and reground the radio, amp to bare metal. clean the battery terminals as well. alternator whine is coming from A/C ripple and is fairly simple to figure out . very rare is it a bad radio or amp. without other symtoms

I do...lol
