  1. nice pb going to the CC day on monday if anyone else is keen
  2. awesome man! thing sounds absolutely nuts
  3. well, i was going to try and get back to wakie today, but i forgot imy sisters uni graduation was on. so im going to go next week. In other news, repacement stub axles are in and i now also have a spare set. thanks james These turned up too 255/40r17s soft compound (actually 265s). I'd like to thank everyone for their help it has really made a big difference to getting to wtac and my stress levels lowered the skirts to match the front. Not the prettiest but should help stop some air getting sucked under the car. (front bar/splitter just sitting there atm) Once again, please excuse the mess. got some new stickers ready to go on too.
  4. thanks man, got a set being sent today. Hopefully here by friday so i can get them in on the weekend
  5. I only got 8 laps in on wednesday before i snapped an axle... car felt good before that though. Managed a 1:10.1 in the lap before the snap, which is about a 1sec quicker than my normal warmup session.
  6. i'd be in for that! do you have to ask to be put near other cars of the same make? i haven't requested anything, i'll probably in back corner somewhere lol
  7. thanks man. asap, i should have some new axles next week an in that weekend. so maybe 24th or 26th of this month
  8. easy, turn up and hand them some cash. everything with 4 wheels are allowed. from street cars to race to open wheelers and karts. thought about taking the rover out for a spin but im sure it would fall over first corner...
  9. will do. although this one happened on the straight under full throttle in 3rd gear.
  10. ive got two sets lined up already, hopefully i'll be able to get a set in this weekend. Only thing that worries me is why it broke. was it because of the extra power and grip (even though not much) or was it just because it was 27 years old and stressed from the last couple of years of track work, or a combination of the two? either way i dont see much point of pouring much more money into the rear end as it is, and so after wtac i will be putting my stag rear end in.
  11. Well that didnt go as well as I hoped. Rocked up to a speed off the streets day at wakie yesterday for a bit of a test day, got 8 laps in and broke a stub axle Other than that the car felt excellent. The extra power and reduced weight has really change the car. Going to take a few proper laps to get used to, but the car will take any opportunity to slap me in the face if I don’t concentrate I did manage a 1.10.10 in the lap before the axle went, which is about 1 second quicker than what i normally do in the 1st session. So i take that as a good indication im on the right track (no pun intended ) Also, even though tyre were cold, grip feels better too. Definitely more front and rear, was less understeery with the modified splitter. Will have to wait until I get a proper run to judge the rear. Timmies best raceface bettter look at the front bar, still need to do the skirts Im now trying to find a couple of sets of 4 stud stub axles, so if you have a spare that you want to set cheaply please PM me. As much as i would like to, im not going to order the billet ones from the states as they will take too long to get made and sent.
  12. Excellent progress matie, must be super stoked to see the motor back in place
  13. wow that looks fantasic! good luck for today, cant wait to see some numbers
  14. sorry matie, wont be able to go on thursday due to work stuffs. but i have swapped my leave to wednesday instead.
  15. Car is still boosting high for some reason, but now makes 351kw @20psi. If I drop it back to 18psi it sat at 345kw. But it is really happy making that power atm. Also dropped the rev's back to 6500, and the afr's are 11 to 1 for a bit of safety Dont mind the dip from 4700 to 6000, got a manifold leak on the last three runs from Not tight enough and cooling down over lunch.
  16. awesome progress mate, bet you must be chomping at the bit for a drive by now
  17. lol vb longneck good stuff man, how long till skids now?
  18. well im not going today as the car had a gate issue on the dyno last week. new gate is on and tune booked for friday, so i'll be heading up on thursday as well Pat (assuming no other problems)
  19. new pretty gate is in and new screamer made up. booked in for the tune this friday. routed the vac line so it goes through the heatsheild and mounted my boost solenoid (ecu has boost control in it). should help with the vac line from perishing from heat. neatly pops out here
  20. Sweet pipes will be interesting to hear the difference between your twin pipes and my oval one.
  21. Basiclly the washer is just a 4mm bit of metal, cut round with the hole drilled offset to match the OEM ones. then you have to mill/grind/file a flat section on the the thread of the bolt and put a weld in the hole of the bolt and file flat to match the bolt. will look like a 'D' shape. this is done to 'lock' the washer to the bolt.
  22. “Do you know how fast you were going back there son?” Well yesterday was a mix of good and bad. (above is just a bad taste pic as they were visiting the neighbours) First up was a wheel alignment, Camber mod is a success, the rears are sitting at -1.5 deg camber and 1mm toe in. Front is -4 camber, -5 castor and 1mm total toe out. I’ll probably dial out some more front camber at the track, but is fine for slicks atm. Then off to ESP for a check-up/tune. Quick reset of the timing and roll up on the dyno, and the wastegate failed. Leaking boost again and over boosted too 21psi before the boost cut, cut in. looks like the valve shaft has worn and is leaking there. Mate took a video of it running, i think it sounds awesome. as soon as he sends it to me i'll post it up The guys at ESP have also recommended that the gate is too small for what im doing with it now, so ive bit the bullet and bought a new Turbosmart 45mm HyperGate. now i need to either mod the new manifold to suit or sell it and buy another. Hopefully it’ll control the boost better now and be the end of my wastegate issues. Silver lining here is at least ive found out now rather then at a trackday or wtac. quick snap of the diffueser in place pirtty black brakes
