  1. Jim Berry only a little heavier then stock, get used to it very quick. In my R33 GTS-T with 300rwkw, a mates R34 GTR with 400awkw and WRX with 220awkw
  2. I have a 3076 internally gated smallest rear housing that was supposed to bolt directly up (btw it didn't haha) and all the parts (no labour) for that was just under 3k and I already had an microtech ECU, nismo 740cc injectors, nippon denso fuel pump but i also have a greddy plenum and 90mm TB on a R33 S1 RB25DET. I only managed to have the car for about 2 days before it blew up again (builder didn't check the clearance on the pistons for the oil squirters lucky I didn't give it all the time I had it ), but from memory i had ~245rwkw @ 12-13psi (guess at most...it's been awhile) on a safe run in tune and I was aiming for 270rwkw all day everyday. The turbo I had before was a high flow stock turbo (227rwkw @ 18psi...had the car running for longer then so I can remember ) and "felt" virtually the same if not a little later on the 3076.
  3. I watched an episode of aircraft investigation where a technician eyeballed a nut for the front screen when replacing it, needless to say it didn't work out to well. All that aside I have the same cover because my original was broken when being rebuilt, replace the oem gasket as its there for a reason
  4. you could have a vacuum leak somewhere
  5. Filter could be clogged same with injectors, if the car is running rich you should be able to spot that from the spark plugs and check for a vacuum leak
  6. The ones in my pic are RB20's in a RB25, they just need to be installed correctly
  7. Hey, That does look like an oil squirter and if so its not good, if you continue to drive since that has come off the piston will start to develop hot spots as the underside of the piston is no longer getting cooled and ping off its head. The engine needs to be pulled apart to get at it, I am going through the same problem except mine was due to incorrect clearences when it was being re-built http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sn...58#entry5396958
  8. For all those wandering if the rb25 has oil squirters or even what they look like The 1 and only squirter still in place And no oil squirters for the rest
  9. Well it looks like there wasn't enough clearence on the pistons for the squirters and will be completely torn apart to find the rest. The filter was a genuine Nissan.
  10. No those were the ks I put on after the run in was done on the dyno (prob should've made that clearer )
  11. The rep of the builder is quite good (not going to mention openly on forum) so I'm a little shocked about it...and the pistons are JE Forged .5mm over
  12. nah no relocator and if I remember the threads were shredded on the filter...didn't check block for the filter
  13. haha don't mention the word rebuild...I only clocked 500ks on it and that was babied, highest rpm would have been 5k and I would have to agree turning it over by hand would have been the first thing to foul...maybe incorrect torque setting and then when put under load has come free...either way I'm still waiting on reply from builder as it was done interstate
  14. Thanks for the reply...as for the filter it was a genuine nissan and the gauge could only read 150psi, they tried 3 times and the same result...as for the engine (as i just want to get an idea) that would require removing the head to get to the nut that holds the squirter correct?!? Will the complete engine need to go through an entire cleaning process due to metal fragments everywhere or just hope on the filter picking it out not taking into consideration that the squirters may have damaged the pistons...
  15. Hi, Quick story i had an engine rebuilt, the plenum was faulty (cheap china...so replaced with genuine greddy) but before it could be replaced my oil filter blew off...interesting...took to mechanic he tried a couple times same result...we both put it down to faulty relief valve in pump. A new geunine N1 pump arrives...goto install that...installed then to have a look in the oil pan to find an oil squirter and one of its brothers detroyed next to it...so I'm wandering what is actually involved in replacing the oil squirters in an rb25. All this was done at the mechanics and I will be talking to the engine builder but I just want to get an idea myself as it looks like they were either installed the wrong way (pointing down) or from an rb20?!? Cheers
  16. nah wasn't told at all i've even had the car there before for over a month and wasn't charged storage fee (hopefully i still have the receipt for that somewhere), and he said to me "were you aware that we have a storage fee" which i replied to "no" then he said "you should have been told this". as far as i'm concerned they had plenty of time to inform me of the storage fee because from the start i said the engine will be going interstate and even rang them a few times to tell them about the shipping and even made an appearance a couple times and even asked how much is the tally so far to which they replied only 4-5 hours work again no mention of storage fee. haven't been able to test the engine (wasn't built by the guys charging for storage) as well because they neglected to tell me when they were taking the engine apart from the start that my clutch will need replacing. also they base there charge on the car being in the shed they have when i can 100% say that it hasn't been in there for the whole time because when i drove by i could see it outside and also one of my friends has a car there at the moment when he drives by he could see it and when i went in there it was outside.

  18. Hi, Quick story, at the start of the year I had my engine pulled to be packed and shipped interstate because they can build an engine not only cheaper but better. Six plus months later the engine is back and getting put together when they tell me "oh by the way we have a storage fee of $x per week to store in the shed" which there was no mention the duration the car was there. I acknowledge that yes they can charge a storage fee but 6+ months after telling me this has to be some sort of problem with fair trading and possibly even breach of verbal contract. When they told me this they said "you should have been told this" and clearly I wasn't because it would be cheaper to tow the car back home and back again Thanks
  19. NYTSKY: Haven't read your build page in awhile we have the same idea on parts and i like it so i can sort of judge what can happen with my setup R31Nismoid: I'm leaning towards response over a lag monster with power
  20. Hi all, I'm up for a rebuild on my 25det, at this stage I'm looking for about 300rwkw (400rwhp) with the option to go higher so I want to make sure I have most of, if not all the internals sorted out. The purpose of the car is a drift/street setup looking for response, while not sacrificing to much of the top end. I don't want to go a 25/30 even though I have looked into the option. The shopping list so far (budget for parts hopefully <=10k): CP/Arias Forged pistons Forged conrods ACL Big/main bearings ARP Head/main studs Gaskets Cometic Metal head gasket N1 oil/water pump Gates Racing Timing belt Cams (not sure what to go with here 256/264 any ideas?) Plenum Turbo (3076, 3540 not sure as well) Current in car: Microtech LTS-12 ECU Hi Flow turbo 840cc nismo injectors Nippon denso hi-vol fuel pump Blitz Pod filter HKS FMIC Oil Cooler and catch can Tomei adjustable exhaust cam gear Blitz Front pipe HKS Dump pipe 3' cat back exhaust Jim Berry race clutch TEIN Adjustable Coilovers 2-way LSD If anyone has any recommendations on places to get parts or I have overlooked something I'm all ears. Thanks
  21. Yea running about 18-19 psi through the highflowed turbo
  22. Sweet I will have to pull it apart and have a look just needed some ideas on where the problem may lie and im in darwin btw
  23. Yea there has to be a problem because the ECU is a microtech and the answer for a problem is add more fuel but yea as for the catch can thats all it does is smoke and i dont want to run the car for to long in case a build up occurs and does more damage and its directly connected to the blow by hose using a t-connector thats the only line for the moroso catch can.
  24. Can someone have a look at the video below and tell me what's going on I believe the piston rings may be gone or something else. In the video there is epic smoke coming from the exhaust when I step on the accelerator and smoke coming from the oil catch can. Car: R33 GTS-T Series 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L-jUlbFX_k Any help would be appreciated
  25. Yea I moved it when it was cold (only atm i dont want to drive to hard or far with the smoke that was coming out) but the catch can has been in there for 6 months plus and this is the first time any smoke has originated from the engine bay and yea its coming from the top of the filter. I have driven it hard before and this is the first time its done it.
