http://www.focal-fr.com/gb/car/k2power/33kx.htm - 13" - For sealed enclosures 30-50 liters (1 to 1.8 cu.ft.).

13" http://www.focal-fr.com/gb/car/utopia/33wx.htm - not listed for sealed enclosure 11" http://www.focal-fr.com/gb/car/utopia/27wx.htm - 30-50 litre These would be by no means cheap.. I don't know specifics but I would be thinking around the $1k+ mark.. fhrx? There are the cheaper ranges, thatd still shit all over most stuff out there
-
thinking about a 13" focal.. if itll suit the sealed enclosure im hoping to get.. had a 12" in the boot of my pulsar hatch.. that wasnt too bad
-
how loud is it given the distance from drivers seat to boot and the metal plate across the back seats?
-
thatd create serious bowel trembling bass id be quite happy with a single 12"..
-
ah i think i see now.. looks real good what volume is the box? how hard was it to tailor make it to the shape?
-
installed pics, where does it fit into? looks good though..
-
Yeah i did a similiar thing - remade a back wall out of mdf and have attached the xbox and will attach the amp once i can afford it ! Works very well.. can see it http://hal.ooix.net/images/thumbnails.php?...?album=5&page=2
-
Good luck with the box making.. love to see the pics and how/what you made it out of..
-
Live on the edge and just get that can of stuff Unless of course you are doing a cross country trek.. then it may pay to have it with you Theres a lot of potential sub space in that spare tyre well though..
-
That looks heaps nice dude.. but unfortunately i have already used up all that space: http://hal.ooix.net/images/displayimage.ph...?album=5&pos=30 Amp to go under the a/v box that the cut out shows (mainly for air flow and access purposes - may pretty it up later with tinted viewing window and neon I have measured up the area and will fit audison srx3 perfectly.. Will have to put the sub(s) somewhere else obviouslly
-
Has anyone done a full custom box to fit in the side parts of the boot, or maybe the spare wheel bay.. It'd be good to save a lot of room and use either of those two spaces. I not build a sub box before, but I imagine custom making something to fit these spaces would be a fairly tedious job..

Yep you were right cyric.. The headunit trigers the relay which supplies power to the inverter. The inverter is permanently on and the xbox has been modified to permanently stay on.. When you turn accesories on.. the lcd displays and you hear the xbox starting up sound.. the boom boom noise.. ehe I have a photo of it installed in the boot: http://hal.ooix.net/images/displayimage.ph...?album=5&pos=30 and other photos: http://hal.ooix.net/images/thumbnails.php?...?album=5&page=3

Hey, After a big night last night I eventually made it to the shops by about 4pm. I have purchased the following: 300W inverter from Dick Smiths - $128 !! 30A Relay for power on/off from Jaycar with grovy adapter thing - $10 And yes, I caved in and I got the logitech wireless controller - don't laugh at my cyric! - it was just too tempting - $ridiculous I also got the A/V pack and an additional generic power cord (is just the standard twin roundpin one) available from any Dick Smiths etc. This way I can just unplug the xbox inside and put it in the car without entire rewiring everything. Already had cabling for power and high quality RCA's. I will post some pics once I have it all installed - which will happen tonight/tomorrow
-
My progress.. Well as Cyric has said, I've been a very busy boy the last few days - lack of sleep is getting the better of mine now. I was able to pickup a indash dvd second hand for fairly cheap and I prefered this option as it still enabled me to play normal cd's and dvds (!) in the dash using only one dinn - the other one has my RSM. We had to install the A/V box in the boot - ran something like 8 cables back upto the front. Created a shelf in the boot that is attached to some existing brackets and carpeted it all nice. Recabled all the speakers with nice stinger gear and did a really nice neat job. Spent the extra hours and came out with something we were proud of. Also installed a nice stinger power distribution block that will power the amp's and xbox/inverter and so on.. http://hal.ooix.net/images/thumbnails.php?...?album=5&page=3 The next plans are the xbox - now i have the screen all sorted out (video/audo in goes into the a/v box in the boot). We are going to build a mdf board that goes across the length of the boot the top inline with the shelf - making it a lot neater - and giving something to mount on. Then we are going to mount the xbox on the board and the amp on the board - probably cut out the carpet wall so they can stick through and get some good air flow.. Probably going to take the lazy inverter option for now - if I have any noise problems then ill look at DC-DC. I will probably have to replace the battery too at some stage - been going flat while the car has been not running for > 1 week (before new install).

This is the one I saw.. http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car/catalogue...h-p7550dvd.html - Only 7" screen, but ist still a touchscreen and DVD-Audio and the likes. - Apologies for casting dispersions Certainly has a lot more features than the previous model, but I can't really afford the huge jump in price - nor justify it given that I don't have any DVD-Audio's, probably won't have full 5.1 in my car etc. The 7500 also won at the EISA Awards: http://www.eisa-awards.org/awards/2003-2004/mobile.htm Personally I would still be very apprehensive in buying this off someone I didn't know personally due to the warranty/repair hassles that could occur - given its not for sale in Australia.. Good luck with the sale dude.
-
I saw one of these on the weekend: - Autobahn in Frankston - 7" model as you have on ebay - Sticker price was $4400 - Obviously Australian version with all warranties etc. Which raises some issues.. - They are out in Australia - listed on the pioneer australia site too - I very much doubt they would retail for more than $1000 than Autobahn has it listed for.. - JB, however, still has the old model as a runout - They are very very sexy I will admit How would the receipts and warranty be transferable from a USA based shop/sale to an Australian individual in Australia - can hardly take it back to the shop can we.. I'm not just trolling here or something, I have just comitted to purchasing an older model version for a lot less than this.. so I am still quite interested in the possibilities

What sort of VBR settings are you using? VBR is still pretty new to me.. haven't really encoded a lot of MP3's in the last few years. It still amazes me how quick you can create MP3's now days. Back when I was really into it, I would have to encode an album overnight to get really good quality.. go the latest and greatest pentium 150.. I use the following lame settings: -q 0 or -q 2 -> highest quality algorithms .. not sure of a huge difference here -V 0 -> highest VBR quality Be interested in finding out what other people use.. By the way - file size does not concern me at all.. I'm actually interested in playing with flac (lossless compression - ie. exact reproduction)- hdd is so cheap nowdays, who cares

Yeah, I did some research on cdparanoia - looked at their website etc. Seems the latest stable release is some years old.. some things just dont need to be improved According to their site, it does a direct digital copy and even talks about Exact Audio Copy in some very technical discussion regarding the way it attempts to read the data off the disc. Seems cdparanoia is still the way to go on linux and EAC seems ace for windows
-
I forgot to ask.. I've been using cdparanoia and lame with the highest quality VBR mode for ages - works very well. How does cdparanoia compare to this EAC - Torrens? I have found that cdparanoia is EXCELLENT for ripping less than perfect audio cd's. It has many many options and can be set to attempt to rip a track indefinitely until it succeeds.. it will retry and retry to read the scratched part of the disk - and most of the time it eventually gets there - though it used to take quite a while on the old 2 and 4 speed drives.... It has been around for a very long time.. From the man page (yes it is linux based EDIT: though apparently its multiplatform - I've only used it in Linux and maybe some of the BSD's - dont remember): More Info: http://www.xiph.org/paranoia/ I use GRIP to tie these both together and do all the CDDB fancy stuff - ends up being really easy. I found it was much harder trying to sort out the shareware and stuff in windows..

Depending on the player you can get a crossfade plugin. This fades the previous tracks last few seconds and the next tracks few seconds together and creates a much nicer transition than the usual harsh stop/start. Not sure about car based mp3 head units, but certainly winamp (used to use it when i ran windows) and xmms (using this at the moment) have the plugins availability. I'm not sure about xbox media player, but I'm sure its been done and thats what ill be running...

Replies already! Ice Performance is probably who i will go with - seen them around the forums a fair bit. They are also in Cheltenham and given the condition of the clutch at the moment, the less travel the better!! Hopefully they arent too busy, I'll have to give them a call.
-
i might hijack this thread I am in exactly the same situation.. just got r33 gts-t series 2 and i need a new clutch to be installed in the next week.. Any recommendations - I have had a huge variety of quotes - especially just for the heavy duty clutch kit itself.. Anyone want to help me out?
