  1. Thanks for that. I think I will go and get me one of those ones and of course i will leave the snorkle/catch can on. So tuning would be a waste? why is that?
  2. Yeah - i just dont want the exaust to vibrate so much like in my old car. I did a simple 2 and a half inch from headers to cat back and the thing was so so freaking loud that my dash was shaking itself to pieces i SWEAR! also not to mention the neighbours being pissed off with me and the unwanted police attention. I think it might have been the people who did it though "pipe werx" at upper mount gravatt. I need to emphasise when i get my exaust done that i need the quietest least vibrating sound without sacraficing any relevant flow relating to acceleration/response. I hope thats something that can be arranged.
  3. Thanks for that - so do you think its not worth paying someone to do the entire system from enclosed pod filter with air box connected to catch can, headers, pipe, to the cat back? I imagine this will cost me like $2000 versus $1200 just for the exaust. Either way I intend to get the thing tuned and chipped as Im good friends with the owner of Chip Torque at the coast.
  4. O really? why do you say that? If thats true i might just wait till i can afford a propper job. Please explain.
  5. Hey guys - im looking for a air filter that can fit my stock air box without any modifications that will incrase airflow. Looked on K&N's website but was unable to find anything for a RB2.5l for a 1998 R34 GT N/A Skyline. I assume they do not make them. Is anyone aware of where i can get one from? This is a stop gap measure and a bit of a test until i pay off my giant insurance debt remaining and can get a professional intake and exaust done with air box etc. from these guys in logan or springwood i forget their name. Also will get Chiptorque to tune the car after the intake, exaust and nissan 50,000km service have been done. So yes.. stock fitting after market high flow airfilters - do you has it?
  6. I was heading down the coast yesterday (sunday feb24) in the afternoon along the highway from brisbane and some girl and her boyfriend i guess (the cute girl driving) over took me pretty fast in a maroon/red R33 GTR skyline i think or at least with a taerbo. Didnt want them to think i was rude for not racing them so if they are here hey hey guys! very fast car you got there hope you had fun down at the spit - we saw you as we were leaving and would have turned back to say hi but didnt want it to be all weird. but yes... your car is fast and i was most impressed.
  7. I should mention just for peoples information i just got insurance with just car - comprehensive $1861 for 12 months ( They wouldnt let me pay by the month for the first year) and then a $2000 excess due to my vehicle and age (no previous claims) im 20 with an R34 (they place me as a rating 6 as i have had my license under a year)
  8. MR2s are mid engine hence the acronym Midengine Rear wheel drive Difference to remember is basically the lack of rear seats in an MR2, Honda NSX or british MG type cars (also better handling). Rear engine cars like the porshe and VW beetle tend to have more snap oversteer crashes and rear seats. Also i seem to understand these rear engine cars gain an advantage of traction for dragraces having all that weight over the driving wheels kind of like an Front engine Front wheel drive car but in reverse - i do understand that especially with the turbo porshes from the 1980s turbo boost would come on suddenly and fling the rear around to such an extent that legal action was attempted to be taken against porshe as their cars where dangerous because of the boost and rear engine factors kind of worked like a pendulum. Mid engine cars do still have snap over steer - i can attest to this however apparantly its no where near as bad as on rear engine cars or so Top gear would have us believe.
  9. Hey guys, i recently purchased a 1998/9 made R34 N/A with 44,000 on the clock tis a good little car but i feel that it could use some more power especially at the lower revs. I rev it in trip tronic it has little power then all of a sudden around 4,000RPM it has alot of power but then i need to shift before it hits 7000 so i have a very small band of useable power - the rev limit is hard and will not drift into the red zone meaning 7 - 9 thousand RPM are completly useless but something tells me I wouldnt want the car to be running that hard... Im looking at my options as the car is completly stock but i am trying to achieve a power increase with a minimal reduction on engine life (i want 3-5 years out of the girl) and minimal increase in fuel consumption as this already owns me coming from a 4cyl background a minimal simple power band swap ie. loosing more power at the lower revs but gaining more at the higher engines (im thinking of chipping in this regarding. Also not wanting to increase the noise produced by any greate degree as the sports muffler on the H22A prelude pissed of the neighbours, attracted cops and damaged the interior leaving me with a permanant rattling sound somewhere under the dash that wasnt there prior to installing the exaust system. Options for the grand or 1 or 2 grand im willing to spend include as far as i know. Chipping at my friends place "chip talk" at the gold coast to hopefully gain more effort from the engine and tune it to use its power more efficiently Exaust system again! but hopefully with a quieter exaust this time or just doing the headers or something more conservative cold air intake professionally done so as to not have sticky tape in my engine bay of my shinny newish car (am considering this) plenum/throttle bodies etc. to increase fuel consumption at a increase in fuel consumption (not crazy about this option) port and polish (am considering this) and any sort of weight reduction such as space saver tyre, skinnier girlfriend etc. (am forced to obtain new girlfriend due to circumstances beyond my control - next girlfriend shall be lighter or at least have a carbon fibre skirt I should mention i am very wary of simply chipping the car or adding a cold air intake as i hear horror stories from my dad who used to race cars and motorbikes saying that they take away torque from one power band and add power somewhere else, you dont get something for nothing in most cases, you greatly decrease your engine life and most importantly of all Nissan engineered my car with millions and millions of dollars spent on making it the best - the best for the majority of conditions - but still to be the best for what it is. I am very wary of any exaust company in mount gravatt (pipewerx im thinking of you) could possibly produce beter over all results then nissan however im the one trying to obtain the increase here and i admit it wont happen without modifying my car so i guess i have to make some consessions regarding engine life and fuel consumption etc. Can anyone suggest the best modifications/upgrades that are tried and tested and worth installing on my pride and joy? Thanks guys (oh i should mention its a 2.5 litre N/A engine i believe its called an RB25 with NEO low emissions classification)
  10. Thanks mate, i have only recently figured out how to get the best out of it using trip/tiptronic gear things - i only hope im not destroying the auto tranny by driving with it all the time, eccept for parking lots and traffic. Of course I engine brake with it too - its just so much better then auto auto but i figure its there/made to be used. I have kicked the back out on a few occasions in the rain - scared the shit out of me as i had the aircon on and i really didnt mean to do it. It was also in the city and if there was someone in the lane next to me i would have clipped them. I need to goto a carpark or something to figure out countersteer and when to do it etc. But it turns out its illegal : ( Sucks because thats how my dad learned how to defencivly drive in canada. -Snow covered empty carpark -over steer -??? -Profit
  11. Wow thanks alot for that! I didnt expect such a well laid out answer - i guess this has been asked before. Regarding the price however I realise it was a bit much - but hey it is only 44,000kms and my license (p player) wont let me have a turbo so this was the best I could find in my area - actually i was also looking at the new MR2 Spyder for the same value but it was just too impractical. Thanks again ill do this change over when i have an entire day to spend on it. Btw do you happen to know if that S14 Cover/bay will fit?
  12. Hey guys, My name is Richard and i recently traded in my 1992 Vtec H22A Honda Prelude for a 1999 imported Neo 6 Naturally aspirated Skyline GT which is very stock and very nice with 44,000 kms on the dial (paid 21,grand). Just wanted to say hi and see if i could perhaps get help on my interior? i have what looks like a japanese kenwood double bay audio cd, cassette and radio head unit that was either installed new in japan or came with the car - im not sure. At any rate it doesnt play mp3 cds or usb thumb drives like my head unit i salvaged from my honda does (single bay kenwood MP4036U). I have the new 1bay mp3 player head unit and have bought a old S14 cover for the soon to be unused bay on my dash now i have to do the change over!... great... Basically i cannot find any screws running along the gear knob/dash to remove the cover and im not sure at all how to go about this... Furthermore im not sure if the Silvia 14 bay will fit or if the new kenwood MP3 Player will fit in but my first obsticle is getting the old one out. Im fine for wiring/soldering as i have the respective JDM and austrlalian skyline/kenwood electronics manuals respectivly and a friend who will help me with that. Can anyone help me? i have tried to upload pictures to illustrate my problem but im not sure if it will work Anyway - hope to see you guys on the road!
